“History offers no evidence for the proposition that the assignment of women in military combat jobs is the way to win wars, improve combat readiness, or promote national security” (Phyllis Schlafly). The country is divided on this issue because some feel everyone should be in the military. Everyone is pushing for equal rights among all people, but the nation still debates on women being allowed to fight in wars. Most women aren’t typically compatible for the military unless they are trained well. Women are taught to be weak links; thus showing us why women shouldn’t be in war zones. Women have the potential of compromising men's lives because their bodies may be a distract men. The appearance of a woman is a distraction to most of opposing sex. Men are easily distracted by a woman and her possessions. Women in the military could very easily cause lives to be in danger due to the fact that men won’t focus as well. When women walk into a room men stare, what would keep them from doing the same in war? Any down time the soldiers have at war could potentially be dangerous if they are distracted by the women soldiers. Men are like dogs when it comes to their attention spans. They can focus on serious tasks but often get distracted when they see something else, like a woman. Researchers have found that male brains tend to be attracted to things that are analytical (sports scores) and visual (Heidi Klum), while female brains focus more on nonverbal and verbal communication (a stimulating conversation) …show more content…

Michele Antoinette Paludi said, “Women's voices have been trivialized and discounted in settings, with the result that women don’t receive the same or appropriate authority that men do” (355). Men are more assertive and aggressive according to Gordana Dobrijević. Since men are more assertive they tend to have more people listen to them. Being listened to and taken serious by women is hard in regular work environments, but it is easier for men anywhere. Emotions and feelings easily take over a women in normal situations, imagine how they would react in war. You wouldn’t want to fight next to a woman who cried over spilt milk. Mens emotions are more intact where they control how they feel and don’t wear their heart on their sleeves. For a man and a woman to do the same labor job, the woman would have to work twice as hard just to keep up with the man. Men who are mentally stronger than women have a lower chance of coming home with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). If a woman has had a child before entering the military she could suffer from postpartum depression. The postpartum depression could interfere with the task she is faced with. Men are better for war because they don’t suffer from postpartum depression, making it a little easier to leave their family to fight for our nation. Since men are stronger in general, it is harder for them to break if they are captured and held
