Specific purpose: To inform my audience the history of women in the military

Thesis statement: For many years, women have not been allowed in the military as they were expected to remain at home.

Introduction

Attention: It is pretty easy to think or even believe that prior to the allowing of women into the military that women just remained at home while their husbands, brothers or fathers went into war. One such instance would be the War of 1812 where though women were involved in the war through their vital roles which have remained overlooked up until today. It is known that any effective military must be founded on cohesion with each and every member greatly respecting and trusting the other completely. However, this is not the case by allowing women since most men will not trust women as able to achieve combat’s physical demands
Despite all odds, the role of women in the military is highly valued especially considering that more than 40,000 women participated in the US war against Iraq. This saw a turning point in the fact that women are not to be offered positions in the frontlines. Later on, women began achieving positions in the military like that of military and army nurses with only limited responsibilities and duties in the twentieth century. However, the war in Korea paved the way for the recruitment of women soldiers as a way of maintaining a large enough military. Today, women are privilege like their male counterparts to participate in the military against all odds
In the early days, women took no part in war as a result of being thought of as those who can’t make it and would rather be left to house chores. However, like their male counterpart’s women have passions to engage in military as occupational specialties and not just for equality or recruitment quotas. This can be evidenced in their participation during the war in Iraq
In the case where women are not up to the combat, better reinforce them rather than using their weak points to rule them out of the military or worse still criticize their role and position in the
