Women play an important role in health care, and are coming to play a significant role in the previously- male-driven area of health care information technology. Women have made several innovative contributions to health care IT, such as creating way issues are approached, implementing a more diverse field of information technology and displaying are hard work to accomplish taking higher positions within the field. After doing research on this particular topic it was an eye opener to see the major things women have accomplished ranging from studying medicine to becoming managers at hospitals to running them. Women haven't had it easy in many fields that are male driven one being information technology. Women are creating new approaches …show more content…
Why should a man and women have the same position, but different pays I do think it is unfortunate. When women are taught to stand their ground,it will show they are not easily persuaded and may be a quality they look for when being someone on to the team. So these influential women show that the fight isn't over and as much as health care is growing women are also growing within the healthcare information technology field. I do hope to say that I wish it were more women that could account for awards and higher positions within this field. Currently, its a total of 76 females in health IT leaders who appear on a list with three different categories one being healthcare IT executives working at a healthcare provider organization, two being the healthcare IT thought leaders and Last being healthcare IT vendor executives. I am glad we do have women that get recognized for their hard work a dedication towards this field, but I can say I wish to see much more in the near future. Some of the women that have made an impact on healthcare are Deirdre Ruttle she is a vice president, which she deals with healthcare payments network,Melinda Gates she is still a powerful force for gender equity and attempting to get more women into technology and Meredith Phillips she took the core of security at Henry ford health system located in Detroit. That was only women of about 23 that was honored for …show more content…
Many times younger kids hear about communications and even a nurse. With educating girls about interesting field as such health informatics they will see that it is not a limit to what you can do in the world. It is also important to educate our younger girls about the impression they can have and who they can even influence them younger than them. Showing them women, have a say so and can do whatever it is they dream to do. We are limitless individuals that can achieve anything and once they see actually see women in the positions of achieving important things such as the women I mentioned earlier. They will want to strive to be as great or even better. As a child growing up,my mother taught me to be independent also that a man should add to the qualities that I have within myself. All of that to say we do have a voice and it can be heard if we all stand together to accomplish unity and beat the odds that are against
The upper middle-class parents believe in teaching their daughters to be competitive, so they can build their leadership skills. As young girls they want to teach their daughters to look at the bigger picture, not just wanting them to look pretty and get there way around with basic job skills; they want them to go climb the ladder and exceed to higher levels. They do not want their daughter to be defined as “girly girls.” I Personally agree with Sheryl Sandberg because she experienced teaching her own daughter, “unprecedented set of educational and professional opportunities.”

...e considered “man’s job” but women are capable of working in both of these professional fields. It may take a long time for this to happen in the world but it is beginning to take effect as more and more women are getting in the professional fields in jobs that they may not normally work. Women are also being appreciated more by the men and they are being considered equal by receiving the same pay as a man. In the next five to ten year, I think that we will see this change in both men and women being the dominant race.
Its 1:30 am and you are have just experienced a major car wreck. You are in the ambulance where the paramedics are telling you it will be ok just hold still big. You arrive at the emergency room and everything is a blurred. You don’t care if the nurse is a female or a male. You don’t stop the male nurse from caring for you. But what happens when you go to the doctor for a follow up visit and see a male nurse? Do you still see a powerful male that saved your life or a powerless manweak feminine failure ? When providing care for a patient, a male nurse faces challenges such as gender bias and judgement .
There are many women who had huge influences in the advancement of heath and medicine. Many people don’t realize how much women do and how much they have contributed to the medical world and its advancements. From Lillian D. Wald, who worked with the less fortunate and children in schools, to Virginia Apgar, who worked with mothers and their newborns and also came up with the “Apgar Score,” and Eku Esu-Williams who is an immunologist and an AIDS Educator. Even though women did so much, many people were sexist and didn’t want to acknowledge what they did or give them the chance to do things, such as become doctors. I want to inform people on how much these women have contributed to the world of healthcare and medicine so that people won’t be so sexist towards women.
... market conditions for women for professional jobs can be extravagant due to many work related factors. Financial markets can become extremely volatile in certain times and women who have problem solving abilities can work just as efficient as men.
On the other hand, studies show that the number of women working has dramatically changed since 1970. These studies show that back then, the workforce was made up with 37.97 percent of women. Comparing this percentage to the studies made from 2006 to 2010, the presence of women in the workplace has increased at least 10 percent. In the 1970’s, it was really rare to see a woman working as an accountant; today, 60 percent of those accountants are women. Also, they have kept their own “careers for women” because more than 90 percent of dental assistants, secretaries and other work fields are composed by

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is reshaping the health care system in the United States at an accelerating rate. In earlier times US Healthcare system was more focused on intervention of diseases, but now it is moving more towards preventive approach and I see Health IT as the most important tool that can lead this change. I strongly believe that my professional goals, range and depth of my experience and knowledge is an asset and my enthusiasm for the field makes me an ideal candidate for the Master of Professional Studies in Technology Management (Health Information Technology) program at Georgetown University.
With technology rapidly changing as fast as we blink our eyes, it is important for people to learn as much as possible about the computer world if they want to maintain a decent lifestyle because the world we live in revolving around those technologies. As McKee points out, “most jobs now require intelligence and technical skill” (1). Each year, there is something either added or modified to computers, which forces people to learn computer literacy at a steady pace. While some love computers, others despise them. When comparing people’s attitudes towards computers, statistics show a gender gap that proves most females’ attitudes are drastically different from the attitudes of males. Several studies prove that women not only lack an interest in technology, but they also chose not to enroll in computer classes. Since computers and technology play an enormous role in the world today, more technology professionals are needed. It is extremely important for more women to become knowledgeable in these areas. Swain and Harvey argue, “This technology gender gap is affecting half our population and causing it to be unprepared to contribute to the demands of a high-tech twenty-first century” (17). While this may not seem like a serious issue to some, it is an issue that will ultimately lead to a bigger problem if not handled immediately. So why are there so few women in the technology field? To answer that question, I must first find out why are there so few women in the technology and computer classes, considering that this atmosphere is the most common place where the interest for computers is born.

A women's role has changed tremendously and is making its greatest impact in our society today. Many years ago, women's contribution to society was limited and controlled by men. Women are standing tall and are playing a major role in many important areas. Women's role has changed at an accelerating rate and have part in areas such as Politics, Professional Training Jobs, Medicine,Business and Law. Formerly they were not part of any political matter, but they have advanced in many aspects. For example, women have attained power and have been growing in political office.
Women’s Rights has been a controversial topic and debated for many centuries. Despite the many strides to enforce a law to protect women in the workforce, little change has occurred. Gender discrimination in the workforce has continued to be debated. Do women get paid less than men? Are employers more likely to pick men over women in a promotion? Gender discrimination is described differences in “working conditions, salaries, hiring, promotion or bonus criteria for women and men”. Sexual harassment and pregnancy discrimination are also a huge topic when discussing gender discrimination. Women should have a voice in deciding what happens in their workplace. It’s prominent that changes occur and help change the status for women in the workforce.
