Their contributions, however, have been overshadowed by systemic oppression and societal biases. This is strikingly evident in the African American context, where black women had to fight both racial and gender injustice. Black women have been at the forefront of resistance and resilience, challenging stereotypes and redefining their roles in society. Through literature, they have advocated for their rights, challenged societal norms, and asserted their place in history.
