“She made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible. She walked with the Universe on her shoulders and made it look like a pair of wings”(Ariana Dancu). Women have come along way since the beginning of time. They have been repressed and degraded by men, but as time has progressed, rallies and protests earned women the rights to independence and the opportunity to develop and advance independently if they choose to. With the freedom women have gained, they seized any opportunity to defy false beliefs portrayed in society. Females are capable of doing anything men can. Women have proven to be vastly more intelligent, strong, and emotionally connected than men. To begin, females have proven to be superior in the area of intelligence. …show more content…
Women prove to be more emotionally connected to the universe, people, and themselves. They provide for their families, love more than any person could ever give, and sacrifice for others before themselves. They take control and are not afraid to express and give themselves over to a greater good. Emotional intelligence consists of a couple categories that the genders have tested in and the results show women remain dominant. “There are many tests of emotional intelligence, and most seem to show that women tend to have an edge over men when it comes to these basic skills for a happy and successful life”(Dan Goleman). Females minds move rapidly causing them to think and react quickly to find the best solutions due to having high expectations society places on them. Even though women may overpass men in emotional intelligence, it is not because it is not there, but because men express emotional intelligence differently. “Men score more highly on self regard and independence than women and also do better on dealing with events that are immediately stressful”(Buckholdt). Emotional intelligence has many areas that define it, so that leaves each gender available to claim it as their specialized region. In the future, both men and women will do what they can to keep
Women and all of mankind need to live a life together, not of solitude, working towards the greater good for all. Sadly, this key concept is often discovered aftermath of mass destructions, devastations, ill treatment, in-equality, and so forth. Feminism and women’s movements were not created for women to be “bigger and better” than men, but for women to work their way up to what men have. Many misunderstood this then, and continue to do so
Since the beginning of time, women have been treated as inferiors by men. Due the supposedly weak anatomy their body, they have always been seen as weak and fragile, a description that can’t be farther from the true. Women have been proven to withstand a large amount of pain and have a stronger emotional stability. Just like racism, gender deferment has been less with the progression of time but it’s still a factor that is present in the everyday life of modern society. We can see this in the fields of work like science where it is rare to find a women scientist and how the technological world is mostly ruled by powerful male figures. Women have been oppressed since the beginning of time and have fought for their rights bravely and consistently, women went from not even being able to speak their own thoughts unless their husbands said so and being an incubator for male heirs to being inspirations to many people and fighting for what it’s right. We, as a society, have progressed in that way through the ages, even though, some women are still being oppressed daily on various parts of the world, it is something that we must overcome and we will, because this world is a better place with more smart, educated and outgoing
There is a continuing debate worldwide regarding the topic of women’s rights and equality. Some have stronger opinions than others but in the long run it is shown that women have come a long way since the Seneca Falls convention in 1848 as well as the Civil Rights Movement in the 1920’s. Since the civil rights movement, women have struggled with religious freedom, equality, schooling, voting, stating their voice in government, and family life. Over the past generations dramatic social and legal changes have been pursued to pave the way for women’s acceptance today; changes such as affirmative action, reproductive rights, abortion, and the pursuit of higher education. Generations of women have come together to help build stronger ground to address women’s rights by participating in civil rights meetings, petition drives, lobbying, public speaking and non-violent resistance acts. Women have also overcome hardships such as rejection, isolation, discrimination, and unfair treatment in the workforce. In today’s society women now have more opportunities then ever before such as invol...
In a quest for equal rights with their male counterparts the feminist movement has opened new opportunities for women in many societies around the world. (Golombisky 90). Feminist’s are pioneering the way for women’s rights, challenging long standing cultural beliefs, creating greater access to education and the political arenas, and initiating change for new ideals. (Golmbisky 90) Many of the once male dominated fields of the workforce now include women based upon the efforts of individuals and a plethora women’s groups and organizations. (Golombskiy 93).
Woman have been the basis of the earth from the beginning. We have given birth to children, broke our bones for one life form. We have argued for out woman rights and survived discrimination. Patiently, we have waited for this amendment: "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any other State on account of sex."(Social Reform in the Progressive Era, 2015) Woman have sought long and hard to finally be given the right that the seventeenth amendment has given them. The right to equality should be upheld, even in the role of combat. Woman have fought and have been waiting for chance to show what they can to in this modern society, thought their dedication and strength,
Clare Booth Luce, a woman who broke the gender barrier herself as the first abroad female ambassador, once said “Because I am a woman, I must make unusual efforts to succeed. If I fail, no one will say, "She doesn 't have what it takes." They will say, "Women don 't have what it takes"”. As a country, the United States of America has come leaps and bounds from where it began with women’s rights. Women were not allowed to vote, and now we have women running for president. But, women are still not always treated as equally as men. Women still cannot hold certain positions in the military, or even wear what they want without being told it is too risqué. Gender inequality is still astronomically prevalent in today 's society and can be seen throughout mass media, career opportunities, and in
Even with the great strides being made toward gender equality, women have a long way to go before true equality is reached. Stereotypes and misconceptions regarding the abilities and roles of women must continue to positively evolve for our society to improve both in the workforce and at home.
Since the beginning of time, women have strived to achieve an equal status in society. The vast majority of women have rebelled against the norm for equal status. As if washing the dirt off one’s hands, women are forgotten for all of their achievements. The identity of women in the Western world has evolved from domesticity and servility, and moved toward their valuation as individuals of intellect, talent, and independence. The culture about women’s empowerment has been reflected in literature and history throughout many ages.
In just a few decades The Women’s Liberation Movement has changed typical gender roles that once were never challenged or questioned. As women, those of us who identified as feminist have rebelled against the status quo and redefined what it means to be a strong and powerful woman. But at...
From the beginning of time, females have played a powerful role in the shaping of this world. They have stood by idly and watched as this country moved on without them, and yet they have demanded equal rights as the nation rolls along. Through the years the common belief has been that women could not perform as well as men in anything, but over the years that belief has been proven wrong time and time again. So as time marches on, women have clawed and fought their way up the ladder to gain much needed equal respect from the opposite sex. However, after many years of pain and suffering, the battle for equal rights has not yet been won. Since women have fought for a long time and proven their importance in society, they deserve the same rights as men.
Women have come a long way from being ¡°House-Wives.¡± In many countries, women have little or no power, or role. Furthermore, that is why this country, America, gives freedom to women to carry their own individual dreams out. They paid for their current freedom, suffrage, and liberty by peaceful, yet passionate and touching demonstrating. They have paved the way for the future to evolve and develop.
Dating back all the way to Queen Victoria and the industrial revolution, the role of women in the family, the workforce, and society have dramatically evolved into the independent woman of today. The industrial revolution provided new opportunities for women in the workforce, and today many women hold positions that previously would be male dominated. Positions were usually male dominated in the Victorian era, because women and men belonged to separate spheres. Many times in today’s culture, the roles of men and women are reversed. Today, education is not only available, but also required of everyone. There has been major progress for women in education, and often they are the people who continue education to the highest level. Men can be found doing domestic household duties, and women may be a primary provider of income. Voting rights for women were obtained through the suffrage movement. Today, women are even allowed to run for public offices. In fact, there is a woman candidate for the presidency of the United States. Without the events that occurred during the Victorian era, women would not have overcome all the obstacles that they have
Throughout history, there have been constant power struggles between men and women, placing the male population at a higher position than the female. Therefore, in this patriarchal system women have always been discriminated against simply due to the fact that they are women. Their rights to vote, to be educated and essentially being treated equally with men was taken away from them and they were viewed as weak members of society whose successes depend on men. However, this has not prevented them from fighting for what they believe in and the rights they are entitled to. On the contrary, it has motivated them to try even harder and gain these basic societal rights through determination and unity.
In the United States, women now have the rights that men have. They are no longer considered property. Friedans writes, “Changeless woman, childish woman, a woman’s place is in the home, they were told. But man was changing; his place was in the world and his world was widening. Woman was being left behind” (Friedans, 532). Women do not have to experience being forced to stay at home while the men go into the workforce and support their family. Women now hold power in the workforce and they continue to grow among that. Recently, a woman ran for President of the United States. In today’s world, women are just as equal as men and will continue to be equal for a long
The role women play in today’s society is a drastic change from the previous role. Women used to be confined to the superiority of the man. Physically, mentally, and emotionally abused, belittled, embarrassed, and silenced. These are just a few examples of the emotion from the isolated treatment of the past. A woman’s role in today’s society is more valued than ever before.
