Woman Poem Analysis

The three poets convey the feelings of seriousness, happiness, and failure. In the poem “Simile”, Scott Momaday explains how people and the actions we do are similar to animals in which the comparison was towards deer. In “Moon Rondeau” by Carl Sandburg he illustrates that working together in a relationship, you may be able to accomplish a task and generate a strong bond. In the final poem “Woman” by Nikki Giovanni she displays how one may want to grow and be someone special to your significant other but they may not care of what their other may want. The three poets are illustrating the theme of humans being similar to animals in which case they either work together or they just ignore each other within the literary similarities and differences of the three poems.

The three

poets display imagery being used a lot to be able to convey what they might want to get through the reader. In “Simile” it gives a conversation happening between two and one person telling the other of what people might be similar two and his comparison was to deer and how the actions we do are the same.”With hooves always placed on firm ground”. The reader can have the sense of being able to see a deer having its hooves placed in the ground similar as people have their legs placed on the ground usually. In “Moon Rondeau” it displays a couple talking to each other under the moonlight. “Looked long at the moon... called it silver button, copper coin…’. This illustrates to the reader that the moon was shining very bright and to interpret further it can show that the bond or relationship between that couple is very strong. In “Woman” a woman does everything she can to get attention from a guy but he ignores everything she does so she grows up while he continues being a kid.”A robin singing through the leaves”. This displays to the reader that she is the robin singing through leaves hoping to get the attention from the guy but it only results in a failure.As a result, the reader can see what the poets wanted to get through to them so they may understand the poems better.
Now the reader, with knowledge of the imagery displayed, it can lead them into the interpretation of the mood.In “Simlie” the conversation between the two people sounds as though it is a very serious topic. “What did we say to each other that now we are as the deer”. The overall serious tone of how it is written that people are like animals or deer. In “Moon Rondeau” the discussion between the couple of love and the description of the silvery shining moon as they stare at it to express the happiness of the scene. “Love is a door we shall open together” and “people like us,us two, we own the moon”. This represents the happiness that is felt between the two as they are under moon. In “Woman” the general happening is the woman wanting to be someone special to the guy by trying to do many things to grab his attention, but he never once showed a sign of paying attention and acknowledging what the woman was doing. “She tried to be a book but he wouldn’t read”. This states that failure by the woman has been occurring because of the use “but” and she continues to fail to grab the attention of the guy. As a result, the reader can see that throughout all three poems the expression of happiness,seriousness, and failure continues to be carried out through the lines.
The poets wanted us to realize that what humans do can be similar to what an animal may do which is work together or to not pay attention to what is happening and be by themselves.

Because “woman” and “moon rondeau” helps to understand that they deal with relationships, “woman” and “simile” use imagery a lot to be able to show the expression of how people are, and “simile” and “moon rondeau” shows that if people work together things can be accomplished.The point I'm trying to prove is that I want the reader to be able get a better understanding of the poems as they[poems] are read. Because in “woman” it deals with relationships but it shows a the failure in it and it may also use imagery but it continues to be using different types of it, in “moon rondeau” it deals with relationships but shows the good in it by working together and having a strong bond, in “simile” the imagery used is only between people and deer and it expresses that as deer you can work together or not do anything. My final thought on my poem analysis is that I agree with all that the three poems have to convey in their writing and that it helps to better understand the poet's thoughts and feelings put into their

poems.
