Romeo and Juliet was written at the mid-1590s in London and even today it is considered to be one of the greatest plays ever written. It is a play based on a long dispute between two families, the Montague’s and the Capulet’s, and takes place in the cities of Verona and Mantua, Italy, over the course of four short days. From constant quarrels to deaths and a banishment, Romeo and Juliet go on loving each other until the end. Between Disney’s The Lion King and William Shakespeare’s Hamlet exists a great deal of similarity but also some differences. The two stories have very similar story lines. In each of the stories the king is killed by his brother. The brother takes over the throne from the deceased king, and it is up to the king’s son to take revenge on his father’s murder and retake the throne. However, each story has its own unique differences.
One of Shakespeare's most famous plays is Romeo and Juliet. I first read this play in my ninth grade English class. At the time, I remember how difficult it was for me to read it. The language was very different from what I was accustomed to reading it was as if it was a foreign language. At first we depended on my teacher to help interpret the play to us. After a little reading and adjusting to the language, I could read it on my own and understand it. This is when I actually began to like reading Shakespeare. I have also read Julius Caesar and Macbeth. Of the three plays that I have read, I like Romeo and Juliet the best.

The Lion King, a film of sorrow and revenge, focuses on the prince of the Pridelands, Simba. Simba, the son of Mufasa(King of the Pridelands), is a mischievous lion cub that gets caught in a stampede incident; which, results in the death of his father. He believes he is to blame for his father’s death, but he is not. Mufasa’s death is the work of Simba’s vile uncle, Scar. Since the making of this film, many people have compared this movie to the shakespearean tragedy, Hamlet. Though the two works share surface-level similarities in plot and characterization, when comparing themes and structure, The Lion King and Hamlet are fundamentally different.
In Hamlet, the old Hamlet is murdered by being poisoned in the ear by his brother but in The Lion King, Mufasa is killed by falling off the hill after being pushed by Scar, who is also his brother. Later in the stories, the villiains are killed by the quietly similar ways such as Claudius is killed from the blade’s poison which is supposed to be prepared for Hamlet and Scar is dead after falling off the hill. Moreover, their two love stories are totally unalike to each other as well. Hamlet and Ophelia have a sad love story in general as they are not allowed to be together since the beginning of the play. Polonius would say anything to make Ophelia stay away from Hamlet and later in the story, unfortunately, Ophelia was also found commited suicide after being insane. However, Simba has a happy ending with his lover known as Nala although it is originally a prearranged marriage. They are friends since their childhood but the feelings develop through time and they later build a strong relationship
Characters from The Lion King (1994) can be matched to characters found in Hamlet (2008); with Simba being Prince Hamlet--the main protagonist, Mufasa as King Hamlet--the slain king, and Scar as Claudius--the greedy uncle. The most obvious similarity between The Lion King (1994) and Hamlet (2008) is both works feature the murder of the king by the hands of his greedy brother. However, the difference is the methods used to execute the monarch. Claudius was able to take the throne after poisoning his brother and Scar was responsible for Mufasa’s death because he pushed Mufasa off the ledge of a cliff he was hanging on to.
Then he sees his father’s ghost and drops Ophelia, like he never loved her. Finally, all the characters start to die, which leads to Hamlets death. Whether Hamlet realized it or not, he was the reason all the characters in the end died. The exception being his father and Horatio. All in all, it is shown throughout this whole play, Hamlet’s internal and external conflicts.

In the play Hamlet there are alot of things that happen that has many people thinking about life. For example Hamlet father dies and right after he dies his wife goes and marries his uncle. His uncle Claudius is his father brother. Hamlet wants to know who killed his father and why did they kill him his father is a loving person. With Hamlet trying to figure out who killed his father causes and shows the climax of the story.
During my reading of hamlet it be came apparent that if you observe the characters and environment, threw a psychoanalytical point of view. That the story of hamlet is actual a representation of hamlets mind, and how he viewed these events as he reviewed them in the afterlife. Each of the characters in hamlet are an aspect of hamlet. Whether It is Ophelia being a symbol of his guilt, or Claudius being a representation of his indecisiveness. The events did happen, but not in the way it is shown in the play. The whole play is hamlets perception and afterthoughts on the matter. And as he goes threw the events the actions of the others represent his thoughts on how it turned out. The death of characters is symbolic of when he was no longer able
