T. S. Eliot once said, “We can say of Shakespeare, that never has a man turned so little knowledge into such a great account. (“No Sweat Shakespeare”). This quote refers to the fact that William Shakespeare had very little education, but still was able to produce such great works like “Romeo and Juliet” and “Hamlet.” However, many people, known as “Anti-Stratfordians” believe that Shakespeare is not the author of these great pieces of literature. For years those who believe he is the author and those who don't have been going at it over the legendary authorship question. However, Shakespeare is just a name masking the true identity of this unknown legend. Often times, his name was wrote “Shake-Speare”, which happens to be an allusion to Athena, goddess of theater who was often called a “spear shaker”, she was also given a gilded helmet which gave her invisibility. When translated, gilded helmet means William (“Last Will”). Shakespeare is thought to be a playwright, so obviously a theater is associated with him just as a theater is associated with Athena. Whoever was using William Shakespeare as a pseudonym was clever about it, knowing the gilded helmet was for invisibility and it translated to William, almost as if they were trying to expose their true identity. They needed to use this pretend name to stay invisible and keep writing without being caught, since it was not right for noblemen to write fiction under their own name (“Last Will”). It would be like knowing somebody was stopping crime in your city, but not knowing it was batman. Alas, not one person knew Shakespeare. Not one person came to this mans funeral,the man who is credited with changing the ways of the english language, but nobody came. This “soul of the age” was a nobody. Not one word of Shakespeare was mentioned until years later when Ben Jonson made the folio of all of his plays.
