William Shakespeare was a popular English playwright, poet, and actor. He lived from the years of 1564-1616. He wrote 38 plays, 2 major narrative poems, a sequence of sonnets, and several short poems. He was a very successful writer, but he was not just born with this talent, he went through much trial and error to get where he was now.
Shakespeare’s parents were considered “middle class”. Shakespeare’s father was named John Shakespeare, he worked as a leatherworker. His mother was Mary Arden, she did not have a job, so they did not make much money. Shakespeare had was the third oldest of eight children. At 18 years old, he married a 26 year old woman that was already 3 months pregnant, her name was Anne Hathaway.

Together, they had 3 children. Their first child was named Susanna, born May 1583. Their second and third children were twins, Judith and Hamlet, born early 1585. Nobody really knows what Shakespeare did between the years of 1585-1592, as if he just vanished! At a very young age, Shakespeare helped his father in the leather shop, but then later, moved to English playwriting.
He attended Stratford Elementary school at the age of seven, where he studied latin grammar, logic, rhetoric, composition, oration, versification, and Roman literature. This was one of the main components that helped Shakespeare’s career start. One of his first plays was Henry VI, Part Two, and Henry VI, Part III (1592). By the year 1594, he became fully engaged in his career. Shakespeare became principal writer for Lord Chamberlain’s Men, which was a very successful group. After his death in 1623, Shakespeare's first folio was published, by his friends, which included 154 sonnets, 37 plays, and 2 long poems. Finally, Shakespeare changed and invented words. If Shakespeare did not attend school and not study hard, he probably would not be an English writer and poet. Another impact on Shakespeare was his family and friends because his family and his life gave him inspiration and support to keep writing and having fun while doing it. One of the impacts that he made on us is or English language. His way of writing influenced our English we use today. Some words are exposure, dawn, bump, lonely, tranquil, and much more. The final impact that Shakespeare made on us was that he inspired assassination. On November 25, 1864, Shakespeare created an impactful performance at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, DC, as a real-life Brutus, assassinating the leader of a
nation. As well as being a popular writer, he was a very important and respected man in the town of Stratford. He was elected Bailiff which meant mayor in the local government back then. He had to balance out being mayor of his town as well as writing, casting, and publishing all of his plays. He managed to keep this up until he stopped being mayor so that he could focus more on his writing. In the year 1616, William Shakespeare died of natural causes leaving his wife and children behind. Sadly, all of his kids died childless, leaving Shakespeare with no descendants. Shakespeare lived until the age of 52 with lots riches, fame, and talent. To this day, Shakespeare is worldwide known for his plays, poetry, and language that he has left behind for us to learn from.
