William Randolph was an American newspaper publisher who built the nation's largest newspaper company, and his methods that influenced American journalism. William Randolph Hearst was born in San Francisco, California on April 29, 1863. Hearst went to Harvard college. Hearst entered the publishing business in 1887 after taking control of The San Francisco Examiner from his father. Moving to New York City, he got the New York Journal, and engaged in a bitter circulation war with Joseph Pulitzer's New York World that led to the creation of yellow journalism sensationalized stories of dubious veracity. Hearst also liked politics and was elected to the U.S House of representatives. Just after that he was doing newspapers for all over the world. But it turned out that he was not great newspaper maker. In 1903 he In 1887 Hearst father gave him full control of the San Francisco examiner. Later on married Millicent willson, They had five sons. In 1905 through 1906 William ran for Mayor for New York and he lost. William Made a lot of money. spent some of his money on one of the biggest castles in the world which he spent 37 million dollars on the castle
Hearst was a rich guy that lived in a huge castle. He was also a famous person for writing newspapers. Hearst also died in Beverly Hills on August 14, 1951. All of his kids followed behind her dad, by working with the media company.

Patty Hearst was kidnapped from the University of California at Berkeley by the SLA (Symbionese Liberation Army) when she was 19 years old. When she got kidnapped the SLA told her she had to join them or she gets hurt. She recorded an audiotape that could be heard around the world, saying that she is now part of the SLA. When she joined them, she participated in a criminal activity with the SLA in California. When she did the crime, they said that it was robbery and extortion. She took two million dollars from her father for the SLA so they could take over the world and the people.

William Bowers Bourn II was born on May 31, 1857 in San Francisco, California. His father, William Bowers Bourn I was a successful Massachusetts merchant who brought his wife, Sarah Esther Bourn, west to San Francisco in search of wealth. It was not long after their arrival in 1850 until he established himself in the financial world of San Francisco. His investments included a commercial banking business, mining stock and the San Francisco Gas Company. William developed a special interest in mining, and took full control and ownership of the Empire Mine in Grass Valley, California. In 1874, William suffered a tragic accident with a pistol, shooting himself in the stomach to his death. His legacy and empire was left to his son, William II, for a future of greatness.
Andrew Carnegie was born into a middle class family, he was born November 25, 1835 in Scotland, and died August 11,1919. When Andrew Carnegie was just a child his country was going through economic problems. The economic problems caused many people to find jobs, and which affected his father. They had to make a decision to move to the united states,he was 12 years when he start to work in a cotton factory as a bobbin boy. When Andrew Carnegie was 14 he became a messenger for the telegraph, he was a such a good messenger that he became Thomas Scott personal secretary, and telegraph in 1855. Later he returned back to the US and decided to run for the Republican nomination for the 1880 election but was defeated by James Garfield. After that he invested most of his money in the bank firm Grant and Ward, that his son and partner owned but Grant did not know that Ward was involved in a fraud which caused all of the firm's money to be lost. After the fraud he lost all of his money and was now broke, so in order to make some money he started writing newspaper articles about what he went through during the civil war. He soon found out that he liked writing and decided to start writing his story, the company to which he was working for offered to publish it but he declined the offer and instead took the offer his friend Mark Twain had given him. While he was writing his book he discovered that he had severe throat cancer from all the years he had spent smoking. He soon lost his voice and only continued to write his story, just days before he died he finished it and it was a such success that his family did not have to worry about anything financially. Born in Virginia in 1856, Thomas Woodrow Wilson was the son of two middle-class parents, his father being a Presbyterian minister. Throughout his early years, Wilson found his niche in learning and made it his dream to attend college; he achieved that goal when he was accepted and attended Davidson College in 1873 (Brands 8). After attending Davidson, Wilson branched out and not only went to the college of New Jersey, but also began to study law at the University of Virginia. George Hearst, William’s father was born in 1820 on a frontier plantation in Franklin, Missouri. George’s father died when he was 26. George was a very hard worker and loved his family very much. He worked odd jobs and in mines to pay off his fathers debt and to take care of his mother, sister and little brother. Mining fascinated young George and even though he could barely read he dwelled into geology books to learn more.
Then, started doing numerous jobs after that; he lost his main job by stamping goods that were suppose to be examined but weren’t. His first wife died after less then a year of marriage, and he was separated from his second wife after three years. Throughout this time he found himself going thru scandals. He landed a job in Philadelphia as a journalist making a name for himself first for a spokesman against slavery and then as the anonymous author of Common Sense.
