Have you ever thought that a rule shouldn’t be in place at your school? Well that’s what this is about. The current rule is that you can't threaten or pick fights over social media. I feel as if the rule is ridiculous because it controls your personal life. I think the rule should not be in place at all. I think they should focus on bullying and problems in school, instead of social media cause things can get confused and it’s not a big worry or problem that needs to be fixed.
The rule monitors what you do over social media and can get you in trouble at school. The flaw of that rule is that you need to be able to settle arguments and deal with problems on your own. If you don't learn how to do it yourself than you’ll never know how to do it when you grow up and when you're a man and have a family, you need to know how to settle arguments. Restricting what you can say over social media is gonna make the argument between the two worse. There gonna confront each other and that can start a fight and reduce the safety everyone around them has. It causes multiple problems at school and it makes the learning environment more dangerous.

They should change the rule in almost every way.
The only part about it they shouldn't change is if there is a death threat or a shooting at the school threat, because that is very serious. They should focus on actual problems not fight words or name calling. Those aren't serious problems so instead of focusing on petty little problems they should worry about actual problems. This rule is very appropriate and can benefit and ensure more safety on everybody at the school. This should be the rule because the school should focus about what goes on in school instead of the students personal outside of school life because it has no affect at all on the
school. The new rule should be, there is no restriction from the school that happens on social media unless there's death threats or threats on school that could harm the learning environment. As i’ve said in previous statement it should change because who cares about the little petty stuff. We need to work on being one of the best schools. We should work on the important things that actually matter in the school and some outside not what people do over social media on there own time. Social media should not be monitored by school. We have parents for a reason and if there is a problem they can deal with it. There are plenty of problems at school to deal with. Focus on those problems. Don’t monitor off school drama and monitor bad behavior at school rather than on websites about people's lives and drama. Sincerely, Jeremy Linton, 8th grade student
Schools have become more interested in limiting students rights because cyber bullying is becoming a huge problem these days .School officials and administrators are responsible to protect their student body and maintain a safe environment. They want to make sure their students are safe and happy at school and off -grounds.They want to limit online speech so they can protect students and teachers who get cyber bullied online.
School fights shouldn't be allowed to be posted online because it encourages more fights and the person to
This involves physical contact or violence against another student. “School bullying can consist of physical violence against a student but more often involves ridicule and attempts to humiliate the targeted student in front of others” (“Bullying”1). Videos of students being hit or even verbal abused are posted online regularly. The problem is, everyone says they stand up for bullying, but this is still allowed. Why is this still happening if bullying is trying to be prevented? This ties in with the idea that fights should not be posted because this only makes bullying (cyberbullying) worse! The internet has a HUGE impact on society today, whether it is in the form of social media, videos of fights, or any other type of communication via cell
Background- Well limiting a person’s speech online certainly isn’t a thought that just came out of the blue. It started as people, particularly young students, and their use of technology to freely share their thoughts on social media sites. And what became of it was more of bullying one’s peers online than just sharing one’s innocent opinion. But schools are meant to be a safe learning
Lawmakers and school officials have been wearisome in the efforts of finding a policy that works to make our schools a safer place for students and administrators. Schools, both public and private, are an environment for learning and pleasant experiences that a child or adolescent will remember for the rest of their lives. Although, experiences like the Columbine High school massacres are not what an individual would want to remember and is one of the most significant enforcer when it comes to all austere policies. Zero tolerance was first introduced by President Ronald Reagan’s
Cyberbullying has become more of a problem over the past years. With technology being in such high demand and there being endless options. Students can use and abuse technology in a negative light. Since technology isn’t going anywhere cyberbullying will only worsen. The First Amendment rights along with the school’s handbook, student handbook and states policies and procedure are meant to protect students from such harm. A students’ rights and privacy must be protected with such things implemented and actions are taken cyberbullying can become
The problem is that cyberbullying is an act that must be stopped, but putting limits on students' online speech is unnecessary. If you are not familiar with the word cyberbullying, it is a is when an individual is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another individual using the Internet, interactive and digital technologies. But yet again I bring the point that schools should not limit the amount of students online speech. Schools must protect students’ First Amendment rights, but also maintain the learning environment and safety at school. Three main reasons why schools should not limit students online speech are there is not a large percentage affected, it does not cause a significant disruption, and it is a violation of constitutional rights.
Students’ rights in schools are limited or just taken away. Kids are forced to do whatever the officials at their school, either the principal or the teachers, tell the students to do. One of the main right that gets taken away or limited is students’ first amendment rights, which is the freedom of expression. Students can gets suspended by just doing things the staff at the school does not like, including saying things that they don 't like or supporting a religion that the school does not support. Also, if something is said about the school or the people attending the school is said on social media that student can also get in a lot of trouble. Students should be able to have more first amendment
Social media is revolutionizing the way we communicate and interact with one another. For better or worse we are connecting in ways that simply did not exist a decade ago, and those connections are presenting schools with increasing number of challenges. School districts shoulder the responsibility for the well-being of today’s students and with the advent of social media, districts are at the center of legal issues concerning student’s freedom of speech and a school’s responsibility to provide an appropriate learning environment.
The schools had also brought in school officers to have on school grounding during school hours. They feel that they need these type of secured to have their children protected. Parents feel a little say knowing that there is a police in school patrolling. In several school they have started to do searches to make sure no one is bring anything dangerous that could harm a person. This is super important to makes sure no weapons are on school grounds. Schools have also put on their policy that if any weapon is found on the person’s possession there could be serious
One school rule that I think should be changed is the dress code. Some things on our dress code should be changed. Such as fingertip length shorts, shoulders not being able to be shown (tank tops). Some schools are even beginning to banned leggings and yoga pants. Since I think these should be changed, I will be explaining all of my reasons for each dress code mistake.
Cyber bullying and online crime must be put at a stop. Parents and teachers should play a great role in regulating what their kids are doing on social media. Parents give their children smart phones, tablets, and computers but they fail to convey the proper way of using those tools. They should teach them the rules of being on social media by telling them from right to wrong. Parents don’t give their children a car to use without telling them the proper rules of how to drive the car. If they don’t teach them how to drive the car then that child wouldn’t know what to do about his or her car and may lead to an accident. This is the same way of how parents should also teach their kids of how to regulate on social media. There are many privacy settings on these social network sites which some kids are not aware off or simply do not care about. We should put an aware of these settings to them and teach them from right to wrong. Parents and teachers should also encourage their kids to come talk to them if they are facing any type of
Social media can cause some great trouble for some people. Some people can become bullies over the internet, while others are the innocent victims for these emotionless
Facebook and other social media platforms have brought communication across the world to a whole new level. The rise of social media has created a place for children to communicate with others in both a positive and negative manner. Although it has made a positive impact on American youth, it has also contributed and exacerbated bullying in our schools. This new form of bullying, often referred to as cyberbullying, has created an around-the-clock atmosphere where bullying can occur even when school is not in session. Many professionals have sought to address the negative aspects of social media and have worked to develop a solution to bring cyberbullying to an end.
First of all, schools should keep students focused during classes. By giving students access to social media for anything in the class, that starts leading to these issues. “All universities have been struggling to balance freedom of speech and the right to express an opinion, with reasonable
