I see cellphones in the hallways in school every day, and I see them as a distraction. Some teachers allow cellphones in classrooms for some reason. I view cellphones as a distraction in class and a cheating device. I’ve seen many kids cheat with cellphones on tests and it’s unfair to kids that take the test fairly. Kids also don’t get a proper education because they are texting instead of taking notes. One reason why I think phones shouldn’t be allowed in school is because they are devices used for cheating. According to usnews.com, 1 third of high schoolers use or have used phones to cheat on tests in high school. This makes it unfair for kids who complete assignments and test the correct way by taking their time and studying. I have seen cell phones out during tests and it really makes my skin crawl because I know they’re cheating and they’ll get away with it. This is only one reason why I …show more content…
Not only can they be a distraction, but they can also keep students from taking notes. According to Huffingtonpost.com, a school in London saw great improvement in test scores after banning phones in their school. This is obviously happening because the phone were a distraction and kept kids from taking notes and paying attention in class. There are some classes in my school where phones are allowed and kids do take advantage of the rule in the class. Finally, some may make the argument that cellphones are a learning device. They say that phones can be used to take notes, look at flashcards, or do assignments online. However, I know that kids won’t use them as learning devices much like our school macbooks. Kids will use their cell phone privilege to text and cheat, not take notes and work on school work. People that make the claim that cellphones should be allowed for school work obviously don’t know that high schoolers will try to cheat every opportunity they
Cell phones are really good they can be used in many good ways like using it for an emergency, or having a easier way to do work. They can be used in a bad way such as sending emails during class or like I said using social media during class. Cells phones are a good way to contact your parent if you forgot something that you needed for PE or LA. Cell Phones are totally appropriate in schools. There are so many good ways phones can be used everybody always is focusing on the bad ways.
Cell phones are harming education and causing grades to be lower than what they could be. The other day I got out of class early in the business building, as I usually do. I was walking down the hallway, back to my dorm, as I walked across a classroom that I happened to look inside. As the professor was in the front of the classroom giving his lesson for that day, I noticed that about fifteen of twenty students had their phones out not paying one little ounce of attention to the professor. I do not know about you, but I can not read a status on Facebook and retain the information that my professor is giving me, but that is just me.
One reason that cell phones should be banned from classrooms is because students who use them fall into a daze of distracted learning. Classes are taught by teachers, whose goal is to give the student an educational experience, learning things they will need to apply to their later life. However, students on their cellphones are distracted from their learning and never use the lessons taught. Over 2,000 cellphone disturbances were reported in New York City in the past school year (Backstory). This means that over 2,000 people had issues with cellphones interrupting classroom discussi...
Picture this, there has been a school lockdown, the suspect cut the landlines so no one could call the police for a rescue. However, the suspect was captured by the police much faster than he imagined. The last scene wouldn’t have happened if it was one decade ago, because cell phones were not popular in schools then. When it comes to cell phones, some people think they should not be permitted in schools, and other people think they should be permitted in schools. I agree with the latter opinion for the following reasons: Cell phones are an efficient way to communicate when emergencies occur in school; cell phones can be a great tool for learning during school hours; and the current prohibitive rules on cell phones are merely fruitless efforts. Cell phones should be permitted in schools, because they could be very beneficial and practical in schools.
People who support cell phone use in schools are usually teenagers. People who disagree with cell phone use in schools are usually teachers or parents, who think cell phones are a distraction. A lot of students see cell phones as a useful device, but many see them as a distraction during class. Throughout this essay, you'll read about the pros and cons regarding cell phone usage. Overall, this essay will attempt to argue that students should be allowed full use of their cell phones during school hours.
Many people have mixed ideas on cell phone use in schools. Some say that they are distraction and disrupt class. While some of these claim are true, it is only because of the occasional misuse by some students. In reality cell phones have a wide range of beneficial use in the school setting. Phones can be used to communicate with parents, teachers can use cell phones in assignments for access to the internet, plus phones can be used during down time to occupy students.
Ever since incidents such as 9/11 and Columbine, high schools have started implementing new rules regarding cellphones. Cellphones regard the attention of building managers, teachers, parents, and students. Although teachers see them as a distraction and a way to cheat, they can be quite helpful to students. School districts should permit students to use cellular devices in school for purposes of improving their education and providing themselves a sense of security.
One reason to allow cell phones in school is that cell phones can help students use it for educational resources. It first allows kids to use it for checking certain facts and explaining and deliberating on details. It helps students take photos to illustrate their work and presentations. Here are some ways it helps students for educational purposes, Andrea Leyden from the article,
Dear Principal Warren, I think that cell phones should be banned from schools because during an emergency phones can make the crisis even bigger, because it’s a distraction, and because kids can cheat off their phones. If you ever given a kid a phone you know that everything else in the world is nothing. So when you want to lift the cell phone ban, you might want to think twice. One reason cell phones should be banned from school is because it can make an emergency even bigger. For example say there’s a fire.
Cell phones should not be allowed in school because children focus more on the phone than schoolwork, it creates more drama, and it promotes cheating. Cell phones should not be allowed in schools because kids are always wondering what their friends are doing and what is happening outside of school. If they have access to their phones all day, then they will be glued to them. Phones are more entertaining than a teacher lecturing at the front of the class. Most students will start to zone out, or fall asleep, when a teacher starts a lesson.
Cell phones have only been in the picture for a short amount of time compared to how long people have been going to school but cell phones are everywhere now and make it difficult for schools to come up with what to do. As many believe they are a distraction and can be used for cheating and other negative stuff. There are also people that are highly in favor of having cellphones as they can be helpful with all the tools they provide and people who are not and it 's all about who makes a better argument. Cell phones used to just have communication abilities but that is far gone now you have the abilities to use apps and different functions that fit nicely into a school environment. Cell phones should be allowed in the classroom as cell phones provide positive benefits and are a helpful tool in learning.
Today’s cell phone is the front line technology at our fingertips. Keeping this in mind the use of cell phones have become an affair when it comes to allowing teens to use them in educational environments, such as schools. One part of society supports the use of cell phones while the other part of society disapproves the use of cell phones. I personally believe that cell phones should not only be allowed in school, but cell phones should be mandatory just like a textbook. Cell phones do not only allow students to stay united with friends and family, but cell phones are also a magnificent learning system, and they boost the liable use of technology.
Just the thought of a a message or text on your phone screen can make you have the urge to look at it or take your time and reply back even if you were still in class causing damage and harm to the teaching environment. This issue of letting students have cellphones in class is a very big argument on both sides leading to many schools starting to give up and trying out new methods with cell phones. One after another schools are falling to the hands of cellphones. Although cell phones may give parents access to contact their child, schools should still ban cell phones in school because they cause major distractions to students that are using them, ruin the teaching environments the teachers has set up, and it may even distract other students.
