Why We Should Not Have School Uniforms Who the heck, even likes school uniforms, are you crazy? Uniforms are what most private schools or rich schools wear, another downside is you have to wear the same cloth every day and that is a bit gross. A few other points are they can be uncomfortable because they are buttoned up shirts and dress coats and dress clothes are not the most comfortable thing on the planet, a. Also, people who are lesbian gay etc or people that like to express their religion like to express themselves with the clothes or things they wear and wearing school uniforms every day they could not do that. Besides, why would you want school uniforms anyways it's not like we are in Hogwarts its school we go there to learn and not to be fancy. Also, people like having their own style and don't like being told what to wear so why do we have to dress like we are in the 1900s in England or something like that. Overall school uniforms are bad because they will stink, be uncomfortable, and not let students have freedom of speech. …show more content…
Why will the stink?
I think the school uniforms stink and the reason is they will stink is. They will stink because people will either be too lazy to wash them or they could be busy as in sports or other things and just forget to wash them and also people might not even change out of them and wear them and not wash them thinking it's fine after 4 days of wearing. I know it will stink because I go to school and people don't bring gym strip home and people wear the same cloth every day and they stink no offense to them it will stink and overall a stink to the school which would
suck. How are school uniforms uncomfortable? Being uncomfortable in school might bring a lack of focus on the students and they might miss some key points while being distracted on their uncomfortable uniforms. Also, they are extremely uncomfortable because wearing button up shirts and dress pants all day isn't all that comfortable. I have worn a suit very similar to a school uniform and they are super uncomfortable and wearing that every day would be annoying and there is no comfort while doing school work which would not be good. No freedom of expression will upset people and not allow them to express themselves. For example people that are gay or lesbian etc or religious or any other thing like to express their ideas or beliefs and things they support and wearing school uniforms will take away from there freedom of expression, So say if someone who were gay or lesbian or supported it couldn't dress up to support it because they are permitted to wear school uniforms or if some religious person wanted to wear a symbol of their religion they could not as because they need to wear uniforms. Overall I believe this could upset some people and this is another reason to not have school uniforms. Overall school uniforms will upset, discomfort, and annoy people and that is why schools should not have them for example uniforms will stink, uniforms are uncomfortable, uniforms don't let students have freedom of speech. You might argue with me but this is what I believe is wrong about school uniforms and the downsides to having them and to see how they are pretty much useless
Some high school students usually wear kind of clothes that are not really inappropriate at schools. Some girls dress really sexy with short skirts or crop tops that they can show their bodies. Also, boys sometimes wear shirts with bad words, slogans or pictures that relate to violence or bad things that may affect to other students. Therefore, if all students wear the same uniforms, teachers do not need to waste time on criticizing these students who dress inappropriately any more. Also, uniforms have school logo, so they remind students that they are studying at school and students more likely proud of their schools when they wear them. Furthermore, wearing uniforms makes the classes more formal and more
Most people think that school uniforms are good ideas but there are people that think otherwise. School uniforms aren’t near as good as what some people think, and you're going to see why it isn’t always good to have school uniforms.
Kids use clothes to express the way they feel and making them wear a uniform is taking that away. School uniforms have been around for a long time. Most schools try to enforce the need of uniforms thinking it will help keep their students safer and better educated. Students shouldn’t have to wear uniforms for these three main reasons: some kids use clothes to express themselves and the uniform would take that away from them, uniforms cost a lot of money and some parents can’t afford it for their kids, doesn't really help with education.
One of the greatest controversies that is spreading throughout high schools in the United States is parents and their children against the enforcement of their school’s uniform policy. More schools have been adopting uniform policies within the past decade. Rules contained in the policy that are implemented range from wearing certain types of tops (shirts) in specified colors to students being required to tuck in their shirts. In the past, uniforms were exclusively for students who attended private schools because they were “well-off”, but now uniforms are being seen more frequently in public schools on students of all economic levels. Having gone through a school system that considered adopting a uniform policy, I would have to press against the issue of mandated uniforms, because it is simply un-American and unjust.
Would anybody want their freedom taken from them? Nobody would willingly give their freedom up. What’s the next thing thats going to happen, will schools having edible food. Hard to see, right? So are uniforms. Schools should not have uniforms for these three reasons: It takes the students freedom of expression away, it’s a bandaid reason to cover up violence, and some parents might not be able to afford the uniforms.
School uniforms also reduce ones ability to choose clothing that fits individual comfort needs. Above all, school uniforms even go against the 1st Amendment of the Constitution of the United States, which is about the establishment of religion and free speech. School uniforms are affecting the amount of money spent on clothing in a negative way. Many people think parents/guardians are saving money, but really, they are just spending more money. If one were to think about it, school uniforms can’t be worn outside of school.
Children tend to break off into “cliques” and uniforms could possibly help unite students. Finding creative ways to express their individuality through other outlets other than fashion can help children forge friendships based on their common interests. In conclusion, I feel that school uniforms are something all schools should really consider implementing in their policy. All of these points show that they can be budget-friendly, help children focus and lower the barriers children can build up because of merely what they are wearing.
School uniforms in public schools are becoming increasingly popular across the nation. The public school system would benefit greatly if this policy were to be adopted. Opposition is always a factor when trying to make changes. Taking all things into consideration, the positive effects would be far greater than the negative effects. School uniforms should be required in public schools because their use would lead to higher education, less violence, and lower cost to parents.
School Uniforms School uniforms are increasingly popular across the nation. In fact, it is a huge controversial argument of communities rejecting these mandated school uniforms in their schools. However, school uniforms are not meant to be a negative thing; in fact, they can be positive in many ways by: eliminating cliques, saving money for parents, and taking away the bullying from students less fortunate. Meanwhile, on the other side of the argument, people believe that school uniforms will violate students’ freedom of expression, create a financial burden on families, and uniforms will not alleviate problems. However, with a solution that would benefit both parties, the public school systems in Oklahoma City district would benefit greatly if this policy were adopted in all the schools; since, the district only has 74 public schools in uniforms, while 17 schools are not.
The most common argument against school uniforms is that they take away the students right to self-expression. Yes, school uniforms limit what the students have to wear, but students can still have their own ways of self-expression. Students can still express their style of choice with their hair and what accessories they wear. Their shoe choice is also a form of self-expression. Students can make the uniforms their own style without breaking the dress code. School is a place to learn. Outside of school, self- expression is limitless. Some parents also believe that it could interfere with students' natural behavior to experiment with different identities. Having uniforms in schools helps erase the defined line of the social classes. Typically, popular kids in the higher social classes wear the trendiest clothing...
If compared to previous generations, the students living in the 21st century should have a bright future ahead of them. To create that future one must first go to school. Is the main purpose of school having to deal with oppression and injustice or is it to give children a proper education and an opportunity to learn? Mandatory school uniforms are a very controversial issue. Clothing impacts a student’s daily life. The clothes they choose to wear, makes them who they are. A student may choose to express who they are or who they want to become through the clothing they wear. It gives them a taste of freedom and choice; a feeling that every individual living in a democratic society should have. Uniforms in school oppose that feeling. Many private schools and some public schools require students to wear a uniform but the majority of schools do not. The school boards need to understand all the bad things uniforms have to offer. School uniforms are useless because they do not help fix any major problems, are very expensive for the less fortunate families, and oppose the rights every Canadian is entitled to; therefore, must not be mandatory to wear in school.
School Uniforms are in a way very unique and different, but what is really the reason that students should have to wear them? The United States is supposed to be a country of freedom and individuality. Each and every person in the world is different, and by making people dress the same they cannot express themselves fairly the way that they would like to. It is sensible for schools to be able to make dress codes, but telling students they have to all dress the same is absolutely ridiculous. Having school uniforms is not necessary, and there are many reasons to prove why schools should not make their students wear uniforms.
I don’t think children or teens should have to wear school uniforms. It deprives them of their freedom of speech. They should have the right to wear what they want when they want. The uniforms are degrading and appalling. Everything would be dull and boring if everyone looked the same and wore the same stuff! Whatever happened to our U.S. Constitution? Some kids become stressed out and could get depressed because they cannot choose what they can wear, In Our own country? The land of the free and the home of the brave and we can’t even choose what we wear? The effect would be: students becoming angry and violent, and worst case scenario, suicide.
Uniforms. Yay! What? Or a nay - ay? There is an unending discussion in schools across the country about school uniforms and whether or not they make for a better experience in school for the students or just the teachers.
‘For’ School Uniforms Interclass Debate Roles: Introduction - Britney Saw Point 1 - Brian Wong Point 2 - Justine Chan Point 3 - Ray Kwek Conclusion - Joyce Zhu Introduction: The motion brought before the House today is “All schools should enforce the wearing of school uniforms from primary 1 to secondary 4.” This is a topic that is hot on the lips of educators, students and parents. School uniforms are a specific set or group of school-standard clothing. If we look at America, only private and non-government run schools that institute the wearing of school uniforms. In Hong Kong, most schools require their students to wear school uniforms.
