Wherever you look in the modern world, many issues affect many people everywhere. Poverty, homelessness, etc. But, there is one topic that stands out, the abuse of drugs, such as PEDs and recreational drugs, which can be found everywhere throughout the world. In schools, in places of work, and everywhere in the community. These harmful substances can also be found in places where we least expect them. One of those places is the fitness/athletic world/industry. Harmful substances are vastly spread throughout the world of athletics. While some may think that taking these substances may help them in certain things, like enhancing their physique and moving them up in the world of fitness, in the end, athletes who take PEDs and recreational drugs ultimately receive no good out of it, for it can lead to health …show more content…

Many athletes influence kids today and inspire others to be their best selves and to train to be like them. Athletes inspire so many people everywhere throughout the world but many of their reputations are ruined. According to Juliet Marcur, editor for the New York Times, "Some people may even say that PEDs and drugs are good for the fitness environment, but there is evidence to prove otherwise, that ultimately, PEDs and drugs should not be abused by athletes and they should not be provoked to do these substances by others". Many athletes and coaches lie about whether or not they take the drugs, which makes it hard for us to determine how big of an issue this is. Drugs in the fitness industry always have and will always have a negative effect and can, for the most part, only cause damage. The drugs, while they help enhance the athletes' physique, ultimately only have serious consequences that can ruin and change lives. While some people might agree with taking drugs to advance and get ahead, it is ultimately a poor choice and a choice that all athletes should not
