There's always arguments on if we should have sports or not. In my opinion I think that we should have school sports because it teaches us a lot of stuff such as, teamwork, learning how to maintain our grades, and a positive attitude. Students should be able to play sports even if the sports are at the school. I personally think that sports are great to have at school because one, you have to work together. Two, you have to keep up your grades, and three, sports can get you scholarships and lead you into have a higher salary. Most people say “you miss out on a class and leaning when you have away games,” but before we leave to a game we check in the class and get our homework. Sports are very good
After reading " The Case Against High School Sports" by Amanda Ripley started to make me think. There were many strong points about how the priorities of the sports are beginning to be more important to students than their education. Another great point was that the financing and budgeting is unfairly distributed throughout school districts and is spent more on athletics and clubs and not enough on classes. And I Believe that schools should put certain restrictions on the spending and promoting or in school sports and clubs because of the major drop in national and world comparisons.
When discussing why sports matter and the influence it has had over the course of history, many controversial issues have been whether or not sports have taught us to cultivate discipline. Sheed explains that sports can play an important role in the lives of people by helping them discover who they are and where they want to be. The lesson of sports goes deeper than just practicing or playing a game, they help build characteristics that will prepare you for many obstacles in life. Sheed mentions that sports were created and put into schools to teach discipline, patience, and honesty to male students. He continues to point out that sports are very competitive and that sportsmanship and discipline does not matter anymore, but instead the very need to win. In “Why Sports Matter,” Wilfrid Sheed, contends that “sports did not only outlaw cheating but drilled its participants to detect and despise it in each other”. This was a crucial lesson taught to a nation based on transactions.
Sports are a crucial part of an individual 's character. Counter arguments made against having sports at schools are getting more and more public. The arguments make people, think again about having students play sports. Sports are useful because they give players skills they can use on and off the field: strength, leadership, and confidence.
I believe schools should not force students to participate in organized sports. Medical conditions, such as asthma, prevent students from being able to participate. Family situations may leave the student with no ride to or from practice. Students may not have time to be able to

They help build character and leadership qualities within the future of our nation. They also lead to higher successes in students. High school sports allow kids to show off skills they hold as well as show that no matter skill level you are instilling the skill to be able to work with others. They both allow you to sometimes accept defeat and still have support from others around you. It also gives you time to show who you are and what kind of friends you want to have in your life and they give you the ability to figure out who you want to be.
Overall sports will always allow players to experience something that not everyone chooses to experience and that is competition. But above all sports does several things that not many activities do and that is build self confidence, create a strong work ethic, teach sportsmanship, it helps maintain student athlete grades, and overall healthy activity. It also does a great job of keeping gets in urban cities that may not have all the options as kids in other areas to stay off the street and out of trouble.
Partaking in school sports can have benefits and drawbacks. A student could be gaining confidence or wearing out their body. Sports is like betting, you win big or lose big. Many would disagree with me and say that high school sports actually have more benefits than negativities for a student. For example a student in sports would be more active which would make them fitter and healthier. A student that in a team sport would make more friends which would improve their social skills and increase their
Student have a lot of activities that they participate in which need time to focus and do whatever is needed in the activities or hobbies. If sports are made mandatory, students will have to focus on sports instead of activities that they chose and enjoy doing. Sports can take time away from activities and hobbies that are important to the student, which can lead to lower grades and less time to enjoy activities and other things they enjoy
Many students play sports in high school. I used to play a couple of sports in my high school where I had fun with my friends and grew athletically. Nowadays, some schools have started canceling sports to improve student grades. According to the article "Texas District", "That 's exactly what 's happening in this small ranching community where the school district is taking desperate measures to prevent a state-mandated closure due to poor academics." Essentially, it is useless because students still don 't study in spite of the sports being cancelled. There are many players who did not study too much and went on to become great athletes in the world. For instance, Sachin Tendulkar, who failed tenth grade, became world 's number one player in cricket. If his school had stopped him from playing cricket, India would not have a cricketer such as him who set many records. There are many students who play sports and get good grades. Thus, schools may restrict the development of students by canceling sports. According to Jay and Daniel, "Research has found that schools that offer more sports and field more successful teams produce higher test scores and graduation rates. So, there is no reason to believe that schools that emphasize sports do so at the expense of other educational goals." Schools always take decisions, which they believe are helpful to the students, such as restricting sports. However, sometimes schools might be wrong because sports also help students refresh their minds, be healthy, have fun, etc. If students don 't play sports in schools, they may not enjoy their school lives and their studies as all work and no play make life dull and grey. Similarly, they need some refreshment from the study which they could get from ...
