The other side to this is that countries without guns find other ways to kill people. For example Yemen doesn’t use guns, but their death rate are caused by knives. McMahan, 3) So, McMahan’s main premises come into play, either everyone has guns, including criminals, or nobody has guns. “Gun advocates prefer for both rather than neither to have them” McMahan remarks, but ultimately that will just leave the country open to more violence and tragedies. “As more private individuals acquire guns, the power of the police declines, personal security becomes a matter of self help, and the unarmed have an incentive to get guns.” (McMahan, 2) Now everyone is armed, and everyone has the ability to kill anyone in an instant, making everyone less secure. Just as all the states would be safer if nobody were to possess the nuclear weapons, our country would be safer if guns were banned from private individuals and criminals.
Imagine... you are driving down the street to see your loving family. You stop at a gas station and a guy comes in. He has a bandana and bad intentions. All of a sudden, he loads a pistol and aims it towards you. What are your options? Try to visualize, a guy going to see his wife and kids, but when out of nowhere a person pulls you aside and then points a pistol at you. Over the course of years, ninety-three United States citizens are killed with guns. Due to these reasons, it seems it is necessary to get rid of guns because of the 21,175 suicides, 505 deaths due to accidental/ negligent discharge of a firearm. Guns should be banned for civilian use, due to too many deaths from unregistered users, misuse, and increased crime rate.
First of all, banning guns will not stop criminals from having them, and there are so many ways that these people can obtain guns. It is pretty plain and simple; if you ban guns from everyone crimes will still be committed. Gun control “…ignores the reality that even if guns disappear, bad people will find ways to do bad things” (Wil...
Murder will still occur even though guns are not present. The murder rate will stay the same only thing that will change is the type of weapon that is used. And these so called “gun free zones become places of the most horrific mass killings because law-abiding citizens follow the law. Gun control laws only affect law-abiding citizens leaving them defenseless. A criminal will not comply with gun control laws. Gun banning l will not reduce the murder rate, won’t stop criminals from committing these crimes, it will only leave law-abiding citizens at the will of the criminals. Also gun banning would take away from our Conustional guaranteed right to bear arms according to the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights. If lawmakers take away our right to bear arms what makes you think that will stop. They will start taking away all of our rights. That is why I am against gun
In the United States, there is a famous saying to justify gun ownership “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” It is true that the person with the gun is the one who is doing the killing but the gun makes it easier to have a massacre. However guns are useful for police, security, and military so they could protect themselves and everyone around them. Americans are not obsessed with guns; the American people are tired that their 2nd amendment rights are being violated. Police violate the citizen right to bare arm and will detain them. The sell of guns are being banned in some states, which makes it harder for citizen to own a gun. When someone chooses to carry a knife for protection the law will try to violate his or her right.
As many people will have seen and heard, America yet again has seen another mass shooting, causing disruption and uproar about gun laws. Should gun laws be put in place? Will it actually change anything?
Several people postulate that handguns should be banned because they believe that the weapon is the genuine cause of any harm done. These people also argue that banning handguns has lowered the crime rate in a multitude of countries, therefore it would benefit the united states. Due to the fact that minorities are less likely to own a handgun, there if the belief that banning handguns may also stop the death of minorities in America. However, handguns should be available with certain precursors because the blame shouldn’t be put onto the weapon, and owning a gun is a second amendment right in the constitution.
The problem with guns is fairly obvious: they decrease the difficulty of killing or injuring a person. In Jeffrey A. Roth's Firearms and Violence (NIJ Research in Brief, February 1994), he points out the obvious dangers. About 60 percent of all murder victims in the United States in 1989 (about 12,000 people) were killed with firearms. Firearm attacks injured another 70,000 victims, some of whom were left permanently disabled. In 1985, the cost of shootings was an estimated $14 billion nationwide for medical care, long-term disability, and premature death. In robberies and assaults, victims are far more likely to die when the perpetrator is armed with a gun than when he or she has another weapon or is unarmed.
Some people believe that taking away guns will reduce or even wipe out the number of attacks or killings. The truth though is that nothing will stop the worlds problems. Even if we take away the guns in the world people are still going to be filled with hate and murder. In fact, if we bans guns in the U.S., how will people defend themselves against a robbery or some other heinous act. The answer is that it wont help. Even if guns are banned what's to that people won't but the guns illegally. In this world people will always find a way to get what they want even if that way is illegal.
As you can see if guns were eliminated from our society we would be at a serious loss. Our freedoms would be in jeopardy, our individual safety would be questionable and a significant industry in our country would be at a deficit. The quote that "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" is even more pertinent today. .
People who prefer to own guns say that guns are not killing people but the users. However, studies have showed that most of the killer said that they did not plan to kill the victims. In addition to that, more 70% of all killing come from family dispute or arguments between friends. (Federal Bureau of Investigation). If there were no guns, the issues would have been ended by shouting match, or maybe fights. Besides that, research has showed that if murderers attack people with guns, they have more chances to kill victims than with other weapons like knives.(Abner J Mikva).
Guns have a long history in the United States. Guns are used for self-defense, but they are also used for hunting. Since guns are a part of the American culture, it is almost impossible to get rid of all the guns in the country. However, by training people how to use the guns properly, giving people the right mental care, and limiting the number of people who can have guns, could stop school shootings in America. Anything in the world could be dangerous if people do not know how to use them.
Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles” said Jeff Cooper from the book Art of rifle. Banning guns would only take them out of the hands of honest citizens that own guns. This could also give criminals more advantage over the unarmed citizens. Banning guns would do no good because criminals don’t care if they break the law simplely because they are criminal.
