The first reason why tennis is the toughest non-contact sport is because of the skills that are required by the one. A statement by Paul Fein it says that “tennis players must have exceptional cardiovascular fitness or face severe consequences when competing against opponents who do” (48). Putting into account two fields that have to be analyzed about the skills that argues the tennis in the top of the toughest non-contact sports, the physical aspect and the mental one, in the former have to be considered that tennis is an individual sport which gives more pressure to the player, the tennis player faces a set of situations which adds more pressure to them as the fact of the expectancy of the people around him, the score and a list of items that has to execute through the match, this player has to manage this set of emotions without neglect any aspect and continuing with the tactic strategy , being the player …show more content…

In the first category it is certain to state that tennis is a complex sport who requires a vast knowledge of different shots such as forehand, backhand, and service, where each one has a set of variations, the first one, have developed through the year changes and styles as the flat/lifted, the basic topspin, the modern and the sliced one, all of this from a basic movement called forehand, in the middle, there is the backhand which has also acquired, adapted versions as the double-handed, the single-handed, the flat/lifted, then sliced and the topspin one, the latter item, it is the service, one of the toughest shots, which has variations such as flat, sliced, topspin and kick service(Woods 119-206). These are the principal shots with their respective variations, but are not the only one shot that a tennis player has to manage; there are other specific shots accompanied by their corresponding variations, for example, the return of serve, volleys, lob, smash and the drop
