As a child, I always questioned my parents about the medications they took. I was curious and, at the same time amazed by the effects tiny amounts of chemicals could have in the human body. This curiosity, among other factors, inspired me to study Pharmacy in order to use my knowledge to help improve the lives of others. I am deeply interested in the synthesis of pharmaceutical drugs and the ways they work in the human body.
As far as I am concerned, the pharmacist is also very much concerned with people’s welfare, and is committed to improve people’s lives through the knowledge of medicine and patient care. I cherish the thought of being able to make a difference in the real world. I enjoy helping people, and I am looking forward to play a responsible and beneficial role in the community.

Pharmacists are highly educated in the form, uses, and interactions of certain medicines and also in how those medicines affect normal body functions. They keep thorough patient medication records, which contain important health information. Pharmacy technicians give advice to patients on the proper use of medications, and they also are important sources of information to physicians and other health care providers.
I pleased to apply to the PharmD program as the program is one area that corresponds to my career dreams. Being part of this program gives one the opportunity to gain an excellent experience in working and collaborating with various health care providers in the ward. But more importantly, it facilitates a practical environment in dealing more closely with patients. Hence, it helps to provide the ultimate health care services to patients. Also, it permits me to carry on gaining different knowledge, skills, and values in addition to those I have already developed during my undergraduate studies. My interest in being a clinical pharmacist was first aroused during my SPEP rotation in the hospital setting where I was really impressed with the role of clinical pharmacists who provide a consistent process of patient care with healthcare teams to maintain the appropriateness, effectiveness and safety of the medication use. Unlike a pharmacist, a clinical pharmacist has a more diversified responsibilities and closeness to direct patient care. Moreover, provides
Since my early schooling days, science and mathematics have always fascinated me given that all components of the world are explained on the basis of these disciplines. In this regard, Pharmacy which is based on Chemistry and Mathematics has interested me a great deal as it has direct impacts on our daily lives. The more I have become familiar with the chemistry and mathematics knowledge involved in pharmacy, the more I have appreciated its significance in improving the lives of people in the community. Out of the many careers that one would opt to pursue, Pharmacy has stood out as the career that will enable me serve the society more directly and have a real impact in the quality of peoples’ lives by touching their health. In addition, I love a career that is challenging and one that I will be involved in even in old age. In this case, Pharmacy offers me this opportunity. My interest in Pharmacy has also developed from my personal health experiences and becoming aware of its expansiveness. Every time I have had to take medicine to cure an illness, I have become more interested to know how drugs are made and how the drug components work in the human body to alleviate pain and restore health. I desire to pursue a career in Pharmacy so as to gain practical experience in these aspects of research.

Pharmacy is an ever-advancing field, with many trends. Some trends fade away and become obsolete. Yet some trends, such as using computers in the pharmacy, stay and make the job easier. With the advancement in technology, there are bound to be new trends that can lead to the future and make pharmacy life easier.
During the tenure of five years of undergraduate program I studied variety of different courses including Biochemistry, Anatomy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pathology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmacognosy, etc. but always found myself more inclined towards pharmacology, physiology and pharmacotherapy of all the different courses I studied and with passing time my interest just grew stronger. In the commencement of undergraduate program, studying different drugs and their mechanisms, diseases and modes of their therapy was merely an interest but by the time my undergraduate degree program ended it became more of a passion. It was for this passion that I decided to pursue a post graduation degree in the respective field. Before I could go any further in academics I wanted to have some practical exposure and consequently, I decided to join a hospital rather than a pharmaceutical industry. Hence, after fighting off a tough competition from all over the country I was recruited among the twenty pharmacy graduates in a year lengthy “On-the-Job Hospital Pharmacist Trainee Program” in July 2013 and currently, I am working as a trainee pharmacist in the most preeminent hospital of the country, Aga Khan Ho...
In approximately one and a half years, pharmacy school is going to consume my life; therefore, it is a good idea to beginning planning what specific goals I am working toward. From the Pathways exercises, I realized what I hope for from my future career. I began to contemplate my values and my preferences. As a mother of two young children, I have been fascinated by the effect of proper use of drugs on my children. I have tried to understand the composition of drugs, their chemical and physical properties and uses, as well as how these drugs works within the body and their side effects. Although my husband who is currently a professor in the pharmacy department helped me to understand, I also have a desire to help others and the opportunity to pursue advanced research to extend my knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry. Being a pharmacist requires lots of responsibilities not only because they monitor and deliever medications to patients but also because they should be care giver and communicator by providing appropriate advice to patients and general public on wide range of drugs and increasingly growing new drugs information.
The Pharmaceutical field is very versatile and has expanded in many aspects, which has lead to my fascination with pharmacy. The countless opportunities and the potential in this field are qualities that make a career in pharmacy especially invigorating and meaningful to me. My interest has flourished from various seeds, rooting from the experiences I had, shaping me into who I am today. I am a first generation American with Japanese- Korean heritage. I treasure my multi-cultural background that pervades every aspect of my life.
My father worked as a Chemist in the Pharmaceutical Industry, and I have always found hearing about his work fascinating. Learning about the anatomy of the human body, with its level of detail and precision both at home, as well as at school, was something I’ve always enjoyed. However, my interest for Biomedical Sciences in particular, has only recently been discovered. I find the results of the body’s reactions to certain chemicals and toxins truly fascinating, and the complexity of all living organisms astounding. I soon decided from here that a career in science was for me, and in order to achieve this, I continued to study Biology and Chemistry at AS-level.
Pharmacists have very important roles in healthcare from all angles. Physicians and licensed practitioners that write a written prescription, the pharmacist reviews patient history, health conditions, and interactions with the new medication prescribed. As a pharmacy technician (for six years) I had a somewhat of an overview on what they accomplished in a shift but did not know everything on what I know now from this research. Pharmacy students that are in the process to obtain their doctor of pharmacy (D.Pharm.) go through a series of training, education and internship to become a well-rounded pharmacist.
To play an effective role on the infinite horizon of science, one should specialize in a specific field. Regarding this point, and my strong desire to learn more, I am determined to pursue my education in pharmaceutical studies. For me, as a new immigrant in the US, an undergraduate program was a chance to gain the requirements for this end. Since my early childhood, I have learned to appreciate originality and to value knowledge. Curiosity has been my driving force, as I have always been more than greedy to learn every single new subject.
