Soccer is an integral part of my life. Every Monday and Wednesday, my friends and I play after school. Besides learning footwork from our coach, we also inculcate the importance of good ‘work ethic’, in every game we play, from him.
Today, we are a team to reckon with because we put in game-time intensity in every match. Weekends are ‘Soccer Days’; time to watch my favorite team, Manchester United, play in the Barclays Premier League. On Sunday evenings from 5pm to 7pm, my friends and I organize soccer matches in a small rented pitch; play the game we love. (100 words)

Besides summer undergraduate research programs, I will have access to countless cutting-edge research facilities; immerse in hours of riveting inquiry. Of the former, RISE especially appeals to me for it holds the promise to take my investigation in the fields of my choice to the next level and beyond, as I benefit from my interactions with its learned faculty; undertake projects whose fructification will affect our todays and tomorrows. Further, UROP will be my training ground as a first-time researcher, which will serve me well as a SURF and SROP participant. Soccer, is more than a sport and more than a hobby, soccer is life! Soccer is the king of sports all over the world. It's my childhood hobby, I have been playing soccer since I was 3 years old. My mother says that I've always like kicking the ball into the net. Since then soccer has always been my hobby and my lifestyle.
There were several factors that played into why I chose to attend Truett-McConnell. I have played soccer since I was five years old and ever since I started I had a dream to play college soccer. My dream was to play soccer at Samford University in Birmingham, AL. My aunts, uncles, both grandparents, mom, dad, and now older brother have all attended Samford. Going there would have been fantastic but God had other plans for me.
The impact that soccer has had on the United States has drastically changed the American society and it will continue to mold the culture for years to come. Soccer, in one or more ways, has had some part in the lives every American citizen, whether it be the money spent by the government on stadiums and professional teams, or the time spent watching and playing the game. Although the sport did not have a strong early presence in American lives it has substantially grown in recent years, thus effectively popularizing soccer in every corner of the globe. According to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), 90% of all registered players were male, with younger soccer players comprising the greatest proportion (54.7%) of all registered male players (Daneshjoo et al., 2013). Due to the increasing popularity of soccer, as well as the increasing amount of financial interest in the game, soccer is one of the most extensively researched intermittent team sports (Ali, 2011). Soccer performance depends upon a number of factors such as technical/biomechanical, tactical, mental and physiological areas.

By having registered so many players, it’s not surprising that this sport has more fans than any other sport worldwide. Every team looks for a player that moves the ball, and that creates plays to score. This means a person that pass the ball through the entire game. To pass the ball in a proper way is one of the main skills a player needs to play soccer. Passing the ball, keeps the game going. Without being able to pass the ball accurately to your teammates, more than likely your team won’t be able to score a goal. The key for passing is to keep things simple. This means passing the ball to your nearest teammate that is not marked by an opponent.
October 20, 2013, began as a normal Sunday. However, did I know that my life would be changed in a matter of seconds. I was so excited about practicing soccer with my travel team, in Oxford, that day. I could not wait to get to Oxford to see my teammates and coach since I had not seen them in a few weeks, due to not having practiced in the past weeks. When I got to the fields, I quickly jumped out of the car and hurried over to the field so I could meet up with my team to begin practice.

The pounding sound of cleats on the hard grass covered turf. Feeling the air whistling past as numbers and colors rush by. Bodies racing for one thing, the ball. Soccer is an activity that brings me so much joy and pleasure while still pushing my body to it’s limit.
After spending two hours running, kicking the ball, defending the goal etcetera, infused with the extra supply of serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine, when I reach school, equations of chemistry and mathematics, laws of physics, theorems and formulae, as well as computer languages and coding, all become easy. Returning home from school at four PM, a quick shower, a change of clothes and a healthy meal later, I join my teammates for our daily three-hour soccer sessions in the neighborhood field, where we train under the watchful eye of our coach. With only twenty-four hours to the day, on reaching home after practice, I study till one thir-ty AM, when I retire to get ready for another day. Each new day takes me one step closer to my goal and what I want to do in life, play soccer. In other words, playing soccer has not only honed my soccer skills, but also ensured that I maintain my grades.
For me soccer,or also football mostly known in Europe is my all-time favorite sport! Why you may ask? Well let me give a few examples,and maybe you may fall in love with just like me. First of all it’s the most watched international sport played with around 2,000 club teams including the English,Spanish, and German league, and many more!
American Football is not merely a sport, its a culture. In the south football is in some ways a lifestyle. From the rivalries to the championships its truly one of the most exciting sports to have ever been created. This is why I love it so much, it is much more than just a game it has a much deeper meaning to it. From the outside looking in, many people do not fully realize the impact it has on each and every player throughout its history. Football has made me who I am today.
