Many people today believe that women should go into combat and everything will be fine. Well, that is not true. If a woman goes into hand-to-hand combat, she will create many problems for her team, which results to her team losing the battle. If you think women should not go into hand-to-hand combat, read on and find out why.
Women should not go into hand-to-hand combat because of all that heavy protective gear weighing their bodies down. The protective gear is extremely heavy and is not the kind of gear a woman should wear. The protective gear is made for men who have upper body strength and is able to carry it on their backs across the battlefield. If a woman tried to sprint across the battlefield with all of that extremely heavy gear latched onto her back, she wouldn’t make it. Women also have a lower aerobic capacity than men. Just imagine if women had to run with heavy gear on and was extremely exhausted from running. Only one or two women can do that, but most women cannot. Men on the other hand have a much higher aerobic capacity than women. Men can run without getting exhausted easily and they have enough strength to carry all of the heavy gear on their backs. The better the soldiers are, the higher chance the team has of winning.
The military only has training created for men and men only. If women wanted to

join the military, they would have to push themselves harder to pass the training. Women would most likely not pass the test even if they tried their hardest to pass it. More men will pass than women because the training test was made for men, and not women. If a woman works hard enough, then they will pass. There are also some men who would actually risk their own lives to save the women on their team, which could result in less and less men during a battle and if more men keep on doing this, the military would have more women than men. Women are much less reliable than men.
In today’s society, people choose men over women for hand-to-hand combat. If a woman is wounded, a man would most likely help her out instead of fight. Women can be a distraction during battles. Men would most likely save the woman than themselves because men have the urge to help out a weaker teammate. If the teammate was another man, the man would just go on with his business than help out his wounded teammate. See, if a man saw his dead teammate, he would ignore him. If a man saw a dead woman on the battlefield, he would rush over and try to help her out instead of helping out his other teammates
battle. Others say that women should go into hand-to-hand combat because women can do anything men can and women are no different than men, but that is not true. Women can be a huge distraction during a battle and could slow the team down. Men could lose their own lives just because a woman is wounded or injured and we need more men than women in our society because men are much stronger and can last longer in a battle than a woman. Women are nothing like men. Women do not have the same strength as men. Women do not have the same mind as men and they would definitely not pass a test to become a soldier to fight for their country because women do not have enough potential to become a soldier. A woman slows her team down and lets down her team. This is why women should not go into hand-to-hand combat.
The military is trying to find new ways to recognize the fact that women now fight in the country’s wars. In 2011 the Military Leadership Diversity Commission recommended that the Department of Defense remove all combat restrictions on women. Although many jobs have been opened for women in the military, there is still 7.3 percent of jobs that are closed to them. On February 9, 2012, George Little announced that the Department of Defense would continue to reduce the restrictions that were put on women’s roles. The argument that “women are not physically fit for combat” is the most common and well-researched justification for their exclusion from fighting units. It has been proven if women go through proper training and necessary adaptations, they can complete the same physical tasks as any man. Though there seem to be many reasons from the exclusion of women in the military, the main ones have appeared to be that they do not have the strength to go through combat, would be a distraction to the men, and that they would interrupt male bonding and group
In the Upfront Magazine Article “Women Warriors”, author Rebecca Zissou told the story of two women who recently graduated the Army’s Ranger School, but whether they would be able to serve alongside their fellow male graduates was unknown. Zissou also delved into the issue of whether or not women should be allowed to serve in combat positions. However, I believe that women should be allowed to serve in combat positions in the U.S. armed forces.
With society’s past and present it is apparent that women are still not equal even if they have the title. Men are observably stronger and have a different mentality in situations than women. This is not to say that women should not be in the military but they should have the choice that way they can accept the responsibility and train themselves mentally and physically to achieve the responsibility and respect needed to fight for our country.
Women during wartime situations were so determined to participate in the defense of their country and their homes, they went from performing the traditional duties of cooking, sewing, fixing the weapons for the soldiers to serving as soldiers themselves along side the men. They hid fugitives and even became spies. During World War II and the Vietnam War, women were only allowed to serve as nurses because military leaders did not want to expose women other than nurses to the horrors of combat. Women were not given any form of training and were not permitted to carry weapons which would able them to defend themselves against the enemy. Decisions permitting the deployment of women especially enlisted women, to the combat area was the military habit of over-protection, based on the notion that the women would not be able to cope with the slightest inconvenience without loss of morale and efficiency. It was just this kind of thinking that was continually interjected into the decision-making process when it came to enlisted women, which were often treated as though they were not much brighter than a young child. “The male soldiers, sailors, airmen and hostile wives back home labeled these
Many women around the world have big responsibilities in the military, and although some people may disagree, I believe they can handle anything a man can handle when it comes to being on the battlefield. Some people think that women should not be able to fight in the military, where as other people think they should be able to fight in the military. Each supporter and non-supporter has their own reasons. Some of the reasons for the non-supporters are because of their gender. They think that because they are women, they cannot handle the challenges that being on the battlefield brings. Women are willing to fight, and they know what can happen, they know exactly what can happen. They are willing to fight for their country, and I believe they should be able to. The men that fight for our country are against women fighting in combat. They believe that women are not capable of doing what they do to defend and fight for our country. The men feel that they cannot trust women to help back them up at war simply because of the fact that they are women.
...ffering Post Traumatic Stress Disorder at a substantially higher rate and of a more serious nature than men, despite the fact that they are exposed to substantially less combat danger. Thus, women may be less likely than men to kill and more likely to pay a heavy psychological cost for it when they do."
Statistics from a poll that was took from USA Today/CNN/Gallup Poll in 2005, 27 percent of citizens think women should be able to serve anywhere in Iraq, 32 percent think that they should serve as support for ground combat units, and 44 percent think women should not be assigned to infantry units (“Attitudes Toward Women in Combat” #10). Many people are concerned that the women will be used as a prisoner of war, lack physical strength that will disable them in a mission, or wouldn't be equipped to handle stress situations. Women have proven themselves otherwise. Data from the 2011 class at West Point shows that 50 percent of female Cadets, a select group, passes the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) using the male standards. A percentage of women are just as efficient as men. New research suggests that women can enhance combat performances of the military without disrupting...
The gender integration in the military has always faced questions of social acceptance, weather society can accept how women will be qualified and respected in the military as today. As of today, the decision has been made and allowed women to fill about 220,000 jobs that are now limited to men which includes infantry, armor, reconnaissance and some special operations units. The recruitment numbers of women have been increasing since than which reflects the importance of severing as role model for future women to join infantry and other ground combat jobs which they have been prohibited from. Women have extensively served in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan, but discrimination still continues till today. The military requirements are physical tests and standards such as long deployments aboard ships, exceptions for infantry which male units perform better than women. Women’s acknowledgement has not really changed which stated by Carter “ He said there are “physical differences on average” between men and women and that “thus far, we’ve only seen small numbers of women qualify to meet our high physical standards” for some units “ (Bradner, p. 3).There are not many exceptions for women fulfilling the needs to open opportunity jobs in the military but with little hope which men inhale the endurance and strength that are not viewed towards
The problem of women fighting in combat along with their male counterparts is not a one-sided problem. Elizabeth Hoisington has earned the rank of Brigadier General in the U.S. Army, leads the Women’s Army Corps and believes that women should not serve in combat because they are not as physically, mentally, or emotionally qualified as a male is and that ...
Woman have been the basis of the earth from the beginning. We have given birth to children, broke our bones for one life form. We have argued for out woman rights and survived discrimination. Patiently, we have waited for this amendment: "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any other State on account of sex."(Social Reform in the Progressive Era, 2015) Woman have sought long and hard to finally be given the right that the seventeenth amendment has given them. The right to equality should be upheld, even in the role of combat. Woman have fought and have been waiting for chance to show what they can to in this modern society, thought their dedication and strength,
Many agree, that in certain military occupations, women can function at the same level as men. The controversy about having women fighting with men in wars is the fact that they have a different physical structure, deal with stress and emotions differently , are more susceptible to injury and just don't have the killer instinct necessary to get the job done. Although the last statement might appear to be a stereotype, most women would not be capable of supporting the demanding rigors of war-like situations. It would be a great mistake to allow women in these stressful and dangerous situations.
Across the history, women Suffer from luck of their right. Culture and civilization was not respect women and put them in the lower layer in their social pyramid. Kill them were they alive, while other give them a life with a lot of misery and obstacle, which is the same thing or killing them better than these life . At the few previous centuries, the world growth and become more opening. people understanding that they are needing women in a lot of job outside their home as men. Sadly, when we came to combat sector, we stop thinking logically. It is men major one hundred percent . If we look to the book (1001 things everyone should know about women's history) which written by Constance Jones (2000) we can find that only 88013 women among history had the ability to take part in military by give a variety of services. Some country actually these day try to make it happen. For instance the first country was allowed women in military was Norway around 1985. Then, it followed by thirteen other countries. It still small percentage compared with the world. It is the right of women to join army and take part in combat, because they are capable as men in adapting with situation. Also, they have equally amount in cerebration and they have the right to decide their own destiny.
Women may still not be seen as equal to me, but as time passed (closer to the renaissance period), they were seen as comparable to men: As many were wounded and not a few killed, the women caught up the weapons of the fallen and fought beside their men, since the acuteness of the danger and the fierceness of the action forced them to be brave beyond their nature. Some of them, clad in armour, sheltered behind the same shields as their husbands, while others rushed in without armour, grasped the opposing shields, and hindered their use by the enemy. 6 Finally, fighting women and all, they were overborne by numbers and cut down, winning a glorious death in preference to basely saving their lives at any cost.
If women are interested in combat positions, then they should be expected to perform at the same level physically ...
In an advertisement published in Vogue Paris in February 2009, Steven Klein photographs fashion model Lara Stone in a manner that brought much controversy to the world about women and violence. In the photograph, a fashionably clad woman in lingerie is forcibly held down by a naked man, while a police officer poses suggestively on her legs and points a gun in her face. This advertisement seems excessively violent for a fashion magazine that young girls and the majority of the mainstream world idolize. By condoning and making the type of violence that is popular in fashion magazines ‘cool’, people begin to recreate the scenes in these photographs in real life because they are constantly exposed to it. Furthermore, this constant exposure to violence
