Many people argue that starting schools later will let students get more sleep and align with the students sleep cycles. But they do not factor in that students will just stay up later at night because they know that they do not have to get up as early in the morning. This will just leave students with less sleep than before. Also students will be up later finishing homework and socializing on their phones with friends. Although schools will now have been adjusted to fit with students sleep cycles, that does not mean that the students will actually
Allowing students to sleep more by starting school later would benefit them in a multitude of ways and keep them from feeling enervated. One drawback to later start times is the fact that school would end later. Since schools that start later still have the same number of hours in a day, they would in turn end later in the afternoon. This can cause problems for after school activities, and also homework after school. Some students families depend on the money earned from working after school jobs. If the school they were attending got out later, they would have less time after school to work these jobs, so they would be unable to make the money they need to support their families (“Eight Major Obstacles to Delaying School Start Times”). While driving at night it is imperative that teenagers and adults be more cautious. At night on back roads deer are more active and jump out to run across roads more frequently. Although experienced drivers are used to driving at both day and night accidents can still happen no matter how experienced the driver is. During the winter if there is ice on the road it is harder to see at night, which can cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. With practice and time driving at night will become much easier and you will become more comfortable with it.

Throughout The United States of America this is becoming a rising concern with today's youth. In my personal opinion I believe that school should start at a later time in the day because it would greatly benefit students. My first reason for later starting times is that it would allow students to get enough sleep , and not have to rush around in the morning to catch the bus. Doing this would allow teens to sleep in their own sleep cycles. This would allow their bodies

Don't you hate waking up early for school in the morning? Most high school students wake up before the sun rises just to become ready for school. Teenage brains do not begin to function that early considering many are tired from staying up late the previous night. The National Sleep Foundation reported that most teens do not retain enough shuteye, one study found that only 15% reported sleeping eight 1/2 hours on school nights. That fact was extremely true for me when I attended high school. I barely was able to wake up, get dressed, and be in school on time since I was so tired. In my opinion school days should start later, precisely in between 9- 10 o'clock. If the school day started later attendance would improve, students will be more prepared, and student's attitudes and grades may improve.
Schools should start later because teens will not be tired in class and their behavior will not be hindered, and teens will now get the sleep they need to live a healthy life. Schools should start later. It’s natural for a teen to go to bed late and sleep in. The AASM said this, “As children approach and go through puberty, their brains begin producing the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin on a delayed schedule, making it difficult for them to feel tired before 11 pm.” Schools should start at around 8:30, so that teens can get enough rest for their body to function.
Many parents and teachers want their kids to ameliorate their academic performance. There is a really simple solution, start school later. Studies show that the brain starts to work the best at 10:00 a.m. However, the average start time for schools across the United States is 8:03 a.m. Students do not listen and learn as good as they would if schools started later.
According to Baltimore Post-Examiner the 3 highest ranked high schools in the U.S for college readiness and algebra and english proficiency all begin at seven twenty five in the morning. Starting at this time would first give kids more time for after school activities, sports teams could practice earlier in the day this would especially be good for outdoor teams that need the sunlight for practice and for safety purposes when walking home a night or to their cars. It would also give athletes and regular students more time for family and to do homework, if extra help is needed it also gives time for tutoring sessions for teens that are struggling because of the homework load and busy schedules. Kids also complain about not having any time for a job, on a normal school day school ends at around three thirty and most students have other obligations such as sports or other hobbies. By the time they get done with these things they have homework and still have to manage to get their full 8 hours of sleep.
