Did you know that sleeping might help battle cancer (Source H) ? I didn't know until now. Many parents and students are aware that they (the students) are not getting enough sleep and that it affects their health. Some schools are pushing their school hours farther in order to help solve the sleep deprivation conflict. I qualify this solution up to the point if schools start no later than 8:30 am in the morning. I encourage this idea because sleep deprivation may affect your mood and this idea still gives time for activities outside of school and more time for students to sleep.

This belief may have some merit on the surface. However, I think the solution of beginning school no later than 8:30am is the best key because it gives benefits to both sides of the argument. In other words , it leaves more time for students to sleep before school and leaves some time after school for activities such as a job or a club or responsibilities that needs to get done such as homework or chores. Also, if students really want or need to get more sleep, then they should be determined to go to bed on a good time such as 8:30 pm. In summary, I believe the best solution to sleep deprivation case is to start school no longer than 8:30 am. This is the best solution because sleep deprivation may affect educators' mood and the solution still gives time for activities outside of school and offers more time for educators to rest. Furthermore, sleep deprivation may put you on a bad mood for the day which is not the best method to learn important information in classes. Also, beginning school around 8:30 am only takes 15-30min off of your free time after school. In addition, students will be able to sleep more which is handy in bumping your grades up. I encourage students to take action and inspire school districts to push hours no later than 8:30 am and clarify why this is the best solution. Waking up early at 6:00 A.M in the morning isn’t the funniest thing to do. The times on when school starts should be changed to a later time. If school started later, kids wouldn’t be so tired in the morning. School starting later is very beneficial because kids wouldn’t sleep so much in class. Students need a total of 8-10 hours of sleep on school days to be awake in the morning. 33% of teens report falling asleep in class every day. 73% of high school students get fewer than 8 hours of sleep on school nights, with 46% of middle school students getting barely 7 hours of sleep.

We already are forced to wake up at six in the morning to go to school, I don’t think it is necessary to add another hour and a half of learning. As of now, fifty-nine percent of students go to sleep during class time. The other forty-one percent of students still go to sleep, but not because of sleepiness but because of boredom. We get drowsy after hearing teachers talk for an hour a half and all they do is talk about the same thing they talked about the day before. For teenagers it is most likely possible that when we get home we take naps and we rest due to our rough day at school.
