Recommended: Fall of rome-the military help me
There are so many powerful countries and governments today, but have you ever wondered what were the most powerful ancient empires and what happened to them over the years. The Roman Empire was at once a very flourishing and thriving place to live, but then all of a sudden it began to fall and decline until it was a weak and vulnerable empire. Historians debate the issue of why it declined and eventually fell. They ask themselves the question, what are the main reasons for the fall of Rome? The main reasons for the fall of Rome were their military struggles, political problems, and the disasters they encountered during that time period. One of the main reasons for the fall of the Roman Empire was the military struggles they encountered. The footsoldiers in the army were lazy and refused to do drills, which then led to their armour seeming to be too heavy to wear so that was abandoned as well (Doc B). Because they didn't use their armour anymore, they fought without protection and many soldiers died and this eventually led to a decrease in the size of Rome's military (Docs B and C)....
The Roman empire was a very large and successful empire, although like many things it had to come to an end. The three primary reasons that had most contributed to Rome's fall is foreign invasions, military weakness , and weak leadership.
As shown in document 2 written by the Roman historian, Vegtius, it declares, “But when, because of negligence and laziness, parade ground drills were abandoned, the customary armor began to seem heavy since the soldiers rarely ever wore it.” this proves that the Roman soldiers became lazy and weren’t able to fight. The document also says, “So our soldiers fought the Goths without any protection for chest and head and were often beaten by archers.” which caused them to lose many battles and the soldiers thought about running instead of fighting the opposing team. The military also became less willing to follow orders given to them and they also became unreliable to their government.
In the glory days of Rome, the empire was safe. People got along very well, large scale public works including bathhouses and aqueducts were built. A single emperor had control of one of the largest empires in history. Great games and festivities rang throughout the land. But, all glory eventually comes to an end. With the largest empire at the time, Rome had an equal fall from grace. Rome fell because of the political corruption, inflation and the decline in morals of its citizens.
Another reason for the fall of Rome was political issues. Citizens no longer displayed patriotism, they were indifferent. Only the rich ran for office. Only the rich could run for office. It had become too expensive to hold office. The officers were forced to pay for public engagements themselves. The wealthy men destroyed Greco-Roman civilization. The loss of Greco-Roman civilization led to the decline of classical civilization. The general pattern of the classical civilization was based upon slavery being at the root of society. The army had proven itself to produce many leaders. The army needed to be maintained. Again, taxes were forced mainly on the poor or made more people impoverished.
The seemingly unstoppable Roman Empire was bound to fall after the many aspects that made Rome such a dominant empire started to fade away. Rome was the center of the world and the thought that such a worldwide power could decline was unheard of. It was not built in a day; therefore it couldn't be destroyed in one day. The marvelous city declined for many reasons yet there are only a few major reasons that led to its diminish. Political, economic, religious, and outside forces were the major factors that led to the fall of the giant empire. Most of the problems came from within the city and were not caused by a major military defeat. Every decision that Rome made had a vast affect on city itself and the rest of the world. Many foolish decisions my terrible emperors weakened the city and eventually cause the many aspects of life to crumble.
Rome was an ancient empire, and a powerful one, at that. It grew from a small village started by two brothers, Romulus and Remus, to a republic. Eventually, it became a huge empire controlled by emperors that lead Rome to being more impressive. But, questions still remain: Why did Rome fall? What event or series of events contributed to the decline of Rome?
One of the reasons the Roman Empire fell was because political instability. When Julius Caesar was in control of Rome, he turned the republic into an empire. This decision angered the senate so they killed Julius. Now that the emperor is dead and there is no clear leader of Rome, the empire is left in a weak and vulnerable state. Another cause of instability was the lack of a smooth power transition. During the days of the Roman Empire,
Reason three: Natural Disasters. One very important reason of why rome fell was all the Natural Disasters that happened in rome. In document F it says that rome was violently shaken by a very destructive earthquake. Also, The shores of the Mediterranean was left dry. But then, soon fooled rome and other areas near rome. This prom]ble helps tell us why rome fell because of all the damage that happened in rome as in an earthquake then fooled and damage lots of homes. And also killed people.
One of the most common causes of the decline of an empire results from having weak military power and martial spirit. In order for an empire to be successful, that empire must present a strong will to fight or sacrifice property and life in order to defend its state. If an empire does not possess this characteristic, it often will quickly diminish. For example, the Roman Empire became successful because of the willingness of the males to defend the state. Shortly after, the males lost their willingness to defend and the empire had to recruit unreliable mercenaries to fight in war. Unlike the successful army of the past, these mercenaries did not have true loyalty to Rome. Because of constant warfare, the Romans had heavy military spending. The Roman Empire had become too large to control effortlessly. Families and soldiers in parts of the Roman Empire adopted local customs. The Roman Empire was made up not only of natives from the Italian peninsula, but it was also made up of barbarians from the conquered lands. The barbarians were very knowledgeable when it came to Roman warfare and military tactics. Corruption became widespread throughout the Em...
Rome has fallen and cannot get up. Rome may have begun as a tiny settlement in 750 BCE; however, by 200 BCE, the war machine known as Rome, had taken out all of their major rivals. As Julius Caesar came to power, the well working Republic had shifted to an empire. Then, things took a turn for the worse. Critics may argue that foreign invasions was the main contributor to Rome’s decline, but the true contributors to the fall of Rome were the empire’s military mistakes and moral decline in society. Military mistakes was a big problem for the Romans. The Roman military was as good as a rock at fighting. Also, the people of Rome had a only-do-what’s-expected-of-me attitude. That is not going to cut it for a first-class and massive empire.
I think that made Rome fall was because the Roman empire grew too large. The first reason why I think this is true because it went out of hand and Rome fell apart because it was too late to fix anything. This could happen to anyone because when things rush right away it could cause a problem and it could turn out in the end bad and it can't be fixed anymore just like what happened with the roman empire when it got out of hand. Another reason why I think the problem that caused Roman to fall was because some of the people couldn’t afford to pay taxes, so less money went into Rome. When this was happening the emperors raised the taxes. That didn’t even work either. This also happens today like when people don't have enough money to pay their
Rome was an outstanding empire that evolved. It is very devastating knowing that such a great and powerful empire had fell since us today have and obtained many ideas and systems from the Romans. Rome had three main reasons of it’s fall. They include of foreign invasions, a weak military and political problems.
Rome was great and powerful. It had a strong and large army, had great leaders. Although rome was a heat empire it still fell for many reasons. Why did rome fall when they were so good? What caused them to go so far down in their government, and social rankings? Rome fell for so many reasons, but I believe the three main reasons was their military fell, they had a weak government, and their was many natural disasters.
Historians believe that there are multiple reasons for the fall of Rome. Many Historians also believe that the fall of Rome was caused by a culmination of events. Rome falling was inevitable, from the corrupt leaders, public health concerns, and even the arrival of Christianity all lead to the fall of Rome
One reason the Roman Empire fell was the lack of determination and loyalty in the army. This was due to the fact that the soldiers were loyal to their commanders, and were not willing to sacrifice for their empire. This also caused a type of feudal system to ensue, owing to the fact that the commanders used their followers as tools to conquer the land of the empire. Since the empire couldn't defend against the hostile soldiers and commanders, they had to hire mercenaries, which further depleted the already exhausted reserve. This combined with the massive invasions by the Huns, vandals and Visigoths weakened the empire massively. In the book, written by latin writer Publius
