Many people around the world have no ideas why stranger leave their own homelands to settle in different countries, or what is the advantage and the disadvantage of being foreigner. Recently immigration has become a big issue with the Western societies, especially, in the United States and many people have different opinions on the topic. To those who might have many questions in their mind that need to be answered about settlers I would say that the people become immigrants because one or more of their basic human rights have been violated or threatened. Many reasons have contributed to this situation such as a global inequality, people fleeing from violence, race, religion, famine, nationality, political opinion, and wars. All these problems
have caused a flood of immigrants from different countries. More people are moving across the world today traveling to new places and being exposed to new cultures, which encourages people to think about settlers. Immigration is a serious issue facing the world today but it is an essential factor in the growth of all countries as long as it occurs legally. In the United States, immigration has provided a multicultural example of economic, social, and political growth.
The United States of America always had a reputation of being the land of newcomers and immigrants. Principally, in the 16th and 17th century Puritans arrived in the New World (modern day eastern USA) to be able to practice their religion; Moreover , throughout the 19th century Irish and German immigrants left their homeland to seek job opportunities and resources in the United States. Furthermore, throughout the 20th century, immigrants arrived from other parts of the world such as Eastern Europe , Mexico, and etc. Logically, there's a pattern in the sociology of the United States. Why would foreigners come to the United States and leave their homeland?

Immigration has been going on for a while now. When talking about it, it can have its ups and downs. In my opinion the main reason why people come to the United States is to have a better opportunity. A lot of countries now in days have a lot of issues including poverty, little job opportunities, and education. When talking about immigration it has a lot of push and pull factors. Push factors are circumstances that generally push people out of their native country. Pull factors are reasons or actions that attract people to another location.
Migration for “a better life” or to be with one’s family shaped the history of the United States since the beginning. In the US today there are 40 million immigrants and the U.S. Census Bureau estimates that there is around 11 million illegal aliens already living right here and are not authorized to live and work in the United States. It makes it hard to protect their right because they are in this country illegal. Immigrant are living in the US are in constant fear of being deported so they live in quiet hiding so that they go undetected by US officials. They are so fearful of deportation that they don’t report crimes against them or employers that take advantage of them or do not pay them for work.

This article highlighted everything I find wrong with the “immigrants are taking our job” argument. Many Americans like to say that they can’t find a job and that unemployment rates are rising because of the number of undocumented immigrants working in the United States. However, when it comes down to the facts, the jobs undocumented immigrants take are not appealing to Americans in the slightest. They’re the hardest, more demanding jobs that require people to work in very dangerous, life threatening positions. I’ve met many people that are looking for work but have never considered – and would never consider – taking a job in a factory or working in a field.
