Trying to get someone to register to vote is almost funny. The excuses people come up with to not vote are quite comical in some ways. “I don’t want to, because not like it matters about my one vote.” “Voting is stupid. It’s not like my vote counts towards this crap.” “I could care less about who the president is, because they all suck, and are going to drag the country down further.” Those are a few of the reasons that I was told as why they do not and would not want to vote or care to vote. The reasons are understandable in a way, but a tad bit ridiculous. People really do not understand voting. When I was asking around for someone to register, I asked four different a friend, my mom, my sister, and my dad. This says people do not see our indirect democracy as a reliable way to voice their opinion. From what I heard from the individuals that I asked to register just shows what they truly feel about our democracy. The person who registered was my dad. He registered more to get involved in the local government elections. He feels that we have much more of a say in our local elections. I would agree as well. I never have, because it has never occurred to me how much of an impact voting can have, especially; if you then voice your opinion to others, and try to bring them on board with a view of a better outlook for you and that particular person. One vote can matter in an election, maybe not a national election, but local and state for sure. That one vote in local and state elections it can be huge it could be an influence thing or push the tally over for a single side of the election. That one vote’s and voter’s influence could then shape an election to show other people what they may have not have seen in a particular
