Children watching Michael Jordan on television made wanna be like him. The attributes Michael obtain just working hard throughout his life is what made him the player he was. In high school Michael tried out for his high school team. When trying out for the basketball team it came down to Michael Jordan and one of his friends in a contest to get the last varsity spot on the team. The coach had a hard decision and his final decision would change the game over basketball more than he would ever realize. Coach Fred Lynch decided to cut Michael Jordan his sophomore year from the Varsity team. When he told Michael he didn’t know what to think. He went home that night thinking what he could do. What the coach didn’t understand that with Michael competitive attitude this just drove him to be the best. Doing that lead him to college basketball and then to the Nation Basketball Association. With all this said Michael Jordan was the greatest basketball player because of his work ethic, mentality, and physical attributes. The first attribute that Michael Jordan has is his work ethic. In the Chicago Tribune it stated that “Jordan was named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player five times.” That’s one of the many accomplishments that Michael had achieved. It was a difficult task for him but he always put everything into every game. Allowing him to win five Most Valuable Player award took him to where he wanted to go in his basketball career. Winning six NBA Title the first to ever put a three-peat in basketball history and then going on to later win three more championships. In 2009 Michael Jordan was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (Chicago Tribune). This is probably the biggest accomplishment that Michael had ever wanted. Michael Jordan perseverance is outstanding he’s never going to let something stand in his way when Michael has his eyes set on it. His perseverance stated by Chicago Tribune “ He cemented reputation as one of the most -well known athletes worldwide.” This showed that against all odds and struggles Michael fighting through everything made him to be well known but that’s not it. Stated in Michael Jordan Basketball Player by Mike McGovern. In 1997 game five of the NBA Finals Michael Jordan got the flu that morning but that wasn’t going to keep him from competing in the game. Michael went know to have thirty-eight points and get the victory for the Bulls (McGovern). Michael perseverance is without a doubt the toughest in National Basketball Association history. It’s just not within the game of basketball that Michael has strived. Michael has done some work outside of the game by supporting many organizations and charities said on www.looktothestars.org. Michael has found many charities like Special Olympics, Jackie Robinson Foundation, Make-A-Wish, and CharitaBulls. Michael is always willing to meet children for Make-A-Wish (LooktotheStars). As you can tell there Michael work ethic is just on the court it’s also off the court. That’s why Michael Jordan has one the most impressive work ethics that you you would ever see and that’s why it makes him great.Along with Michael’s work ethic there’s something else that makes he who he is and that’s his mentality. As stated before Michael Jordan not making the Varsity basketball team probably was super embarrassing for him. That said Michael then proceeded to push himself to the limits and make it to North Carolina basketball team. Taking them to the NCAA National Championship game and hitting the game winning shot to win the championship (McGovern). That one embarrassing thing in his eyes turnout to helping him be a complete star later on in life. Michael Jordan was drafted 3rd overall in the NBA draft according to ESPN. That then pushed him to be better than the two over guys that beat him in the draft and allowing Michael to becoming the NBA Rookie of the Year (McGovern). That also showed his complete determination to be the best and never anything less than that. “Michael always strived to put on one of the greatest show of all time.” (McGovern) That’s just any other way that Michael’s mentality isn’t like any others. Even with that sheer determination Michael had a humble side. “ He set example for teammates-and was a role model to children- with his tireless work ethic, his diligence at practice, and his refusal to let his success go to his head.” (Michael Jordan- The Greatest) Michael is humble to children and not only the children but the organization that allowed him to achieve the things he did. With that they proceeded to put a statue of Michael in front of the United Center in Chicago (Michael Jordan- The Greatest). Michael felt very honored to have a statue of himself at the arena that he slept most of his basketball career. He was humble for the experience that he had when he retired the first time and he thanked all of the fan and the organization for allowing him to do what he did in his career and life. As stated in the book Driven from Within by Michael Jordan “A part all those people helped me along the way can be found in everything I have done and continue to do. I had some great teacher and I listened to what they had to say” That’s why not only Michael Jordan’s work ethic makes him who he is but his mentality is a main part of that makes him who he is in the game of basketball and in life. That’s another attribute that help make Michael Jordan one of the best player ever to play the game of basketball. The final attribute that allows Michael Jordan to be one of the greatest basketball players is his physical attributes.

Michael had other plans. As another attribute that allows Michael’s physical appearance to be dominant on the court is his weight. Michael weigh two hundred and sixteen pounds according ESPN. Michael’s height and weight allowed him to be able dominate at his position on the court. In the novel Michael Jordan Basketball Player by Mike McGovern Larry Bird said to reporters “ I think he’s a God designed as Michael Jordan.” Which helped fans from this generation see why everyone back the were impressed with Michael Jordan’s performances in the games he played in against legends. To connect with that Michael had another attribute that allowed him to be very successful in the game of basketball and that was his athleticism. Michael’s athleticism was very impressive to many of the fan and players in the National Basketball Association. His strong drives and dunks got him national attention (Mick McGovern) this lead to him than competing in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Where he won his first slam dunk contest trophy and …show more content…
then lead him to complete the following year and win that slam dunk contest too. With Michael Jordan’s height, weight, and athleticism it allowed him to put on some of the greatest shows of all time. Every year coming back better and stronger (Michael Jordan-The Greatest Ever). Allowing him to the strive for greatness and lead him to many scoring and defensive titles in his amazing career. Michael physical attributes along with his work ethic and mentality allowed him to not be considered one of the greats but the greatest basketball player that had ever step foot on the court and laced up shoes. That’s the final reason why Michael Jordan was the great basketball player of all time. With all the information that has been given it’s very reasonably to say that Michael Jordan was the greatest basketball player because of his work ethic, mentality, and physical attributes.
These qualities allowed him to put his name in the ballet for being the best and that’s all Michael wanted but never letting it go to his head. In the book Michael Jordan Basketball Player by Mike McGovern the quotes “Kids wanna be like Mike” became very popular towards the end of his career. Unfortunately, the comparison is being made seemingly every day, and the article by Mr. Mathis is full of fallacious material. His extreme uses of exaggeration and card stacking, along with many harsh examples of hasty generalizations, makes a claim that Michael Jordan is and always will be the greatest player to play basketball. An opinion is simply an opinion and anyone is entitled to their opinion, but using fallacies to formulate his response to the issue makes it too finite and too biased in favor of Michael Jordan. There are so many clear and dramatic exaggerations throughout the article. Michael Jordan is described as being “the most unstoppable assassin of all-time, the smartest marketer of all-time” and then sarcastically mentioned as “the savviest shoe salesman of all-time” (Mathis, par. 2).
Then baseball came along in his life, and he signed a contract with the Chicago White Sox. Michael had the great base running ability and defense, but couldn’t hit a lick of the ball. Then on April 2, 1995, he decided he couldn’t stay away from basketball. He came back in the middle of the season and the bulls were unable to achieve what they have done in recent years. During the off-season, Michael was approached by Warner Bros. for a movie with their characters the looney tunes. It would later become known as the movie Space Jam released in November 1996. This year the Bulls came back better than ever, setting an astounding 72-10 record. The day the Bulls clinched their 4th championship with Michael it was Father’s Day. This is the first time the Bulls would celebrate without James Jordan is there. Michael would have another astounding accomplishment by setting the first-ever triple double in the NBA all-star game. The Bulls had once again ended up making it to the Finals. The Bulls would split the first four games with the Utah Jazz. Then comes the fifth game of the Finals, which Michael is most famous for the flu game. There are many stories for why Michael looked sluggish on the court, but it was stated as flu like symptoms or the actual flu. Although Jordan was for sure weakened on the court, he rose to the occasion. The Bulls would go on

Michael Jordan, portrayed by Jim Naughton in the biography Taking To The Air: The Rise of Michael Jordan, is well regarded as not only the greatest basketball player of all time but also the face of a generation. Michael Jordan returned basketball to its past popularity in the United States and revolutionized the way the world viewed the game of basketball.
