Many students in the country have dropped out, and some are just choosing not to do their homework . Some people say kids are dropping out because the amount of homework teachers give to the kids to do at home, is too much homework. The least average of students who have dropped out of high school, are about 30.8 percent According to Pbs.org. I think the problem with them dropping out or just do not want to do their homework is because the amount of homework given to the kids is exhausting and it wastes most of the kids personal time. Most kids don’t have the time to do their homework or probably think, that the homework that are given to them is to much. And some just don’t like doing homework, or just
parents may not have an education or language skills to help their child with their homework
How does dropping out of high school affects students’ lives in the future? Students’ dropping out has become a crisis, President Obama said, “It’s time for all of us to come together parents and students, principals, and teachers, business leaders and elected officials to end America’s dropout crisis” (“ President Obama”). There are 7 thousand students’ that drop out of high school that adds up to about 1.2 million each year, wouldn’t it be nice to drop that number and help kids stay in school instead of dropping out of high school(“ President Obama”). Students’ shouldn’t drop out of high school because they couldn’t go to college, couldn’t hold down a job, and would struggle making minimum wage for the rest of their life.
Zora Neale Hurston's essay "How It Feels to Be Colored Me" is renowned for the potent metaphor she uses to describe her racial identity. She describes herself as "a brown bag of miscellany propped against a wall." This striking image encapsulates Hurston's rejection of simplistic racial categorizations imposed by society. It showcases her ability to articulate a complex, varied sense of self that transcends being defined solely by her race. Her call for embracing individuality anticipates the ideals of the Black Lives Matter movement, which amplifies diverse personal narratives to humanize people of color and resist stereotyping and dehumanization.
Homework is for suckers. Homework causes stress for students as well as for parents. Homework is extremely demanding and many students are spending far too many hours after school to complete their homework assignments. Although, some students may be able to whiz right through their homework, other students crawl along struggling at a snail’s pace. Consequently, family time is put on the back burner due to the time constraints of homework. Additionally, any extracurricular activities are also put on hold. Homework is nothing more than a scapegoat for teachers so that they can pawn off their due responsibilities on parents and students. Homework should be banned for students Kindergarten through 8th grade because the negative effects do not out weight the benefits that come from homework.
As high school students, most of us were taught the dream of going to college from the importance that it has. The real life examples from our friends teach us the importance of going to college. If you drop out of college you may lose yourself, your family, and your friends. One of my friends dropped out of college because he had a bad friendship. So, they convinced him not to go to the school, but when he grew up he realized that the college was the most important thing in his life. Even though we know that “college is the best thing”, why we drop out of college? That fact is that we drop out from the college for many reasons.
Seven percent of high school students drop out of high school every year. More than half of these high school dropouts are unemployed. One of the causes of dropping out could include experimenting with addictive drugs. Being engaged in drugs can lead to a downfall in health as well as emotional aspects. Students may drop out because of their emotional problems brought about by drinking excessively. Becoming pregnant at an early age
Homework, it’s a waste of time, money, paper and trees. Some people don’t even do the homework or they just copy it off of others the day it’s due so, they didn’t really learn much at all. In addition, if we didn’t do the homework, we may have had a doctor’s appointment or something important we had to do.
Students were bored with school (47%); had missed school to many days and could not catch up (43%); spent time with people who were not interested in school (42%); had too much freedom and not enough rules in their lives (38%); and were failing (35%). (p. 91).
Because of his successful life, Steve Jobs was invited to give the commencement speech at Stanford University in 2005. However, Jobs did not graduate higher education. In addition, he quite Reed Collage because the college did not suitable for his perspective of his life, and he also lacked tuition expenses for study (news.rapgenius.com.) Jobs is just an example of people who did not graduate from college. In the real world, people have many reasons why they drop out from school. Students may not even do the homework and its less improvement for them. Homework can help bring your grade up, for example if you get a 75% on a test a 100 on a homework can help. Statistics have shown that students do not need graded homework to maintain good grades homework is just a practice of what you learned. out of 125 people surveyed by me over 80% said that homework should not be graded for various reasons. Homework can improve a students grade but also destroy it. Its true homework can help your grade but getting a bad grade on a test and getting a 100 on a homework is going to change nothing because test are worth much much more than
98% of students are bored in school, so there must be a way to prevent this and a way to show schools that homework does not Improve with learning. It seems like teachers are eager to give kids homework. Kids go to school to learn, and when teachers do not do their job and make kids do work in their off time. It is unacceptable. Kids sign up for school to learn in school not to have to go home and take time away from their extracurricular activities or from time with their friends, so when kids get homework that means that teacher are not doing their jobs. They 're being lazy, they just make kids learn the subject themselves. Homework should be optional because, homework takes time away from your extracurricular activities, homework does not
Homework is frustrating kids these days. They are getting homework that they already know so it is taking up their time. Kohn says “homework is all pain and no gain”. In my own thoughts I think that is true because most of the time homework is just a bunch of papers that don't help, other than maybe a couple of papers that can be challenging but also not to hard at the same time. which leads me into my next
Another major reason that students responded is that they had too much freedom and not enough rules. In other words, they feel that they were able to do whatever they wanted. Therefore, they missed class whenever they pleased because they taught it was not important and that nobody would care. Teachers and school administrators need to be strict regarding to attendance. Students need to see that it is really important to attend school everyday so that they attend in a regular basis. The last major reason that students drop out school is that they fail in school and they give up. According to the report, students said that no one would help them when they were having trouble with something. They did not get any support from most of their teachers so they give up and drop out of school. I think that students who are failing a class are the ones that need more support since they tend to frustrate when they do not understand something. Tutoring sessions and help from the teacher it is very important to help students who are struggling with the material. In this way, students will find the material a little bit
