Why was Whitney Houston inspirational
Imagine being known as an inspirational role model for thousands of women across the globe. Well, this is one of the reasons to why Whitney Houston is very inspirational to me. Not only did she have musical talent, but she also changed the music industry. Firstly, Whitney Houston had such a powerful voice. Her voice inspired many other great and famous singers, such as Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera and many other performers. Her talented voice had won her over 400 awards, making her the most awarded woman in music history. Also, she was the first woman to have four number one singles from an album. Secondly, even though she had struggled through tough times with her personal life, she
managed to recover. As many know, Whitney had a drug addiction which threatened her entire career, and although it took a while for her to recover, she succeeded. Which showed perseverance and determination. It showed her fans that she still does care about them, which I find inspiring. Even after her tragic death, she's still one of the most beloved legends up till today. Finally, she stood up for what she believed in. Even when people did not believe that her race should not be successful in the pop industry, she ignored them. “I know what my colour is, I was raised in a black community with black people, so that has never been a thing with me. Yet I’ve gotten flack about being a pop success but that doesn’t mean I’m white .... pop music has never been all white”. Her words and bravery have kept her fans inspired, and motivated. Not only did she achieve her accomplishments, she was the first African-American model to appear on the cover of the Seventeen Magazine. This proved that she can accomplish something so many have been strongly against. For all these reasons, I believe Whitney Houston is very inspirational. Edited by: Marko

courageous and passionate drive led her to become recognized as one of the most influential
Her influence is simply not a question; it is a salutation to a musical icon that has embedded her legacy into musical history. When I think of the word artist, I think of someone who is innovative, original and someone who has style and a sound all their own. One artist that comes to mind is Janet Jackson. They simply don’t make artists like Janet anymore. Unfortunately, she was the last of her kind.
...ng to this day, she is one of few who could compete with the men of hip-hop, but she never pretended to be anything but a woman. She not only sang about female empowerment, but she wrote about being a woman from the insecurities that we as women sometimes feel to the nirvana of being in love. Sensuality and femininity were always as important to her which was her strength, and message to get out to women especially those of color.

“You'll never do a whole lot unless you're brave enough to try”-Dolly Parton. Most people only know her because of her music, which is very inspirational, however she has done so much more. She is always looking for ways to give back because she knows what it like to not have much. She loves to help kids in need. ...er she would sing you could just hear all the pain that she had in her voice. She had every reason to feel pain. She went through a lot of hard times. She struggled throughout most of her life, not only with drugs, but with other things as well. One really important thing that Etta did was change the way people looked at blacks. Her songs were so powerful that people didn’t care what the color of her skin was because she spoke truth, and didn’t care what people thought. When Etta became managed by Johnny Otis “The Godfather of Rhythm and Blues” her motivation to bring segregation to an end began. Etta was such a powerful singer that her music influenced the creation of the Rhythm and Blues Foundation.
According to Ruth Feldstein “Nina Simone recast black activism in the 1960’s.” Feldstein goes on to say that “Simone was known to have supported the struggle for black freedom in the United States much earlier, and in a more outspoken manner around the world than many other African American entertainers.” Her family ties to the south, her unique talent, her ability to travel and make money are similar to the Blues women movement that preceded her. It can be said that Nina Simone goes a step further the by directly attacking inequities pertaining to race and gender in her music. However, what distinguishes her is her unique musicianship and that is what ultimately garners her massive exposure and experiences over those of her past contemporaries.
Aretha Franklin is a well known pop, R&B, and gospel singer. She has been nicknamed “The Queen of Soul” and is an internationally known artist and a symbol of pride in the African American community. Her popularity soared in 1967 when she released an album containing songs “I Never Loved a Man”, “Respect”, and “Baby I Love You.” Throughout her career she has achieved fifteen Grammy Awards, Lifetime Achievement Award, National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Legend Awards, and many Grammy Hall of Fame Awards. In 1987 she became the first woman inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Time magazine chose her as one of the most influential artists and entertainers of the 20th century. She sang at Dr. Martin Luther King’s funeral and at former President Bill Clinton’s inaugural party. Although she has all these accomplishments and awards there are other reasons that have driven Franklin to fame and landed her on the front cover of Time magazine on June 28, 1968. The reasons I believe allowed Aretha Franklin to become so successful are the following: Her family’s involvement with religion, the inspiring people that surrounded her, and the pain she suffered.
Without a doubt there is one major performer that certainly stands out within our pop culture world. The name of this very famous American icon is, Dolly Parton. Two, the story of development is the story of how to handle anti-social impulses in socially acceptable ways. The environment that Whitney was exposed to at a very young age on a regular basis helped Whitney identify with what she wanted to do with her life. Whitney enjoyed accompanying her mother to shows and singing back-up which also helped influence her decision to be in the music industry. Whitney’s musical intelligence and her daily observation of how her mother Cissy, Dionne and Aretha worked their way through their musical careers also played a major role in her career excelling because she was paying very close attention to everything. I also believe that Cissy’s Houston guidance and Whitney’s passion for music and determination helped Whitney’s career excel at an early age making her a dynamic singer and
Whitney Houston is considered one of the greatest singers of our generation. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, she holds the record of being the most rewarded female artist of all time. I chose her as my topic, because she represents resiliency and tenacity, despite her troubled experiences with drugs and her personal life. Whitney Houston comes from a family with an amazing, musical pedigree; her mother, Cissy Houston, was a successful back-up singer for Aretha Franklin and Elvis Presley. Dionne Warwick is her first cousin, and Aretha Franklin is her godmother.
Women of the blues brought the black culture to a new chapter of recognition. They made blues as a popular music, and gave an opportunity to black culture to be accepted and also gave the people a chance to do something (a job) beyond the scope of plantation. They brought the blues to a performance stage and make it more universal so they can fit in not just to black listeners but also the white. Although on their first performance their blues were not considered as the real blues, because blues was considered to be man culture and in order to be able to sing the blues, a man should experience a journey mostly a bitter journey. Actually the women also experienced a journey and it was not a merely sweet and easy journey. Women had to sing from one club to another, from one city to another, they were live on the road. Living such life was not easy at all; women also had to deal with the dark side of an entertainment world.
