What determines right and wrong? Is it ever acceptable to steal? I'm sure most people can recall a childhood moment when they have accidentally taken an item without it being payed for and either felt guilty or didn't realize it was wrong at all. There are several types of theft and reasons for stealing. Like stealing from a hotel room would not seem as wrong as stealing someone's identity. There is also stealing for luxuries or for necessities. The main reasons people steal are because of greed, hatred, ignorance, or necessity. Like taking a pack of gum from a store does not seem as bad as grand theft auto; so it must be okay. Also most thieves like to excuse their actions by blaming their economic issue instead of admitting their psychological problem. Stealing from a corporation may have a bigger punishment than taking from an individual but both types of theft should be considered wrong. Some feel less guilty to steal from a major store than from an individual because they think a big company won't notice a few items gone. Also stealing from an individual would constantly remind them of what they did when in contact again. The types of thefts are: larceny; robbery; fraud; and identity theft. These types of thefts cover the simplest to the major kind of thefts done, which means that even the smallest item that is stolen cannot go unpunished. However, society has made it seem okay to steal for the "right" reasons or if you are not caught in the act. I agree if it is for a serious need, but not if stealing involves violence to get what you need; that is considered robbery and it would be a larger penalty. I also do not agree with identity theft because that ruins a persons financial
