Shakespeare William Shakespeare should be taught in the 9th grade because Shakespeare’s work is still relevant till this day. In this essay I will prove that Shakespeare is still relevant by using multiple arguments. I will be proving that Shakespeare tells the truth in his plays, that his audience can relate to his plays, and I will prove he is still relevant. I will be using multiple resources to backup my claim. William Shakespeare should be taught in the in the 9th grade because his plays tell the truth. In the article On the Bard’s birthday, is Shakespeare still relevant it says “His plays tell the truth, boiled down to their essences”. What this quote means is that his plays do not change to make the theme family friendly his plays tell are relatable story that doesn’t need a specific change. This ties to the theme because he does not have to sugarcoat anything. In the same article it says “These are not plays we read and see together as a generation or country”. They’re works we enjoy as a species”. This quote is saying that Shakespeare’s plays do not show a happy ending but show how the world is. Shakespeare is a very old and classic type of literature which is great if you like that kind of writing. Although these reads can be very interesting and stimulate the brain I do not think that students should have to or be forced to read these pieces. The first reason is that most students have trouble reading these pieces because of the language they use throughout the writing which leads to not understanding the work. Another reason that students shouldn’t have to read Shakespeare is that these writings can be very inappropriate at times which is sometimes not suitable for a school environment. The final reason students should not have to read Shakespeare pieces is the fact that most students aren’t going to be excited about reading these pieces of literature.
We may now ask why the works of Shakespeare enjoy an undiminishing acceptance in most countries of the world and an aura of immortality. It is perhaps because we see in Shakespeare the mirror of the human condition with which we may all identify and gain a sense that in some strange way his plays belong to us.
Do you think Shakespeare should be taught in schools? If you say no, then let me tell you why you are wrong; most people believe that Shakespeare shouldn't be taught because it’s hard to comprehend or that doesn't relate to us, the readers. But in reality, it gives us a new perspective on how people must have lived back then or on how they responded to situations that we might never have to go through in our lives. For example, in Romeo and Juliet, we are introduced to two young adults that are enemies but they fall in love to show that love is blind and that is true love might exist ( even though they moved on from their previous crushes, Rosaline and Paris ) , this gives me the first situation I want to talk about, which is the problems teenagers or people in general have to deal with and those are love and relationships or commitment . People who say that it doesn't relate to us, please let me explain why it wrong; first, everyone, who has been in a relationship will know that relationship aren't always perfect because you will have problem, arguments, and obstacles.

Good morning organisers of the “Barden Me- Revisiting Shakespeare” conference. Thank you for inviting me to discuss my perspective on the relevance of William Shakespeare's works in contemporary society. In my academic opinion, I believe that Shakespeare’s literary works are in fact still both significant and important in modern society. Particularly, one of his most famous plays “Macbeth” undeniably demonstrates how Shakespeare’s plays are still relevant to today’s youth.
Shakespeare is Important William Shakespeare’s plays are being made into box office film hits at an incredible rate. Films such as Much Ado About Nothing with Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson, Hamlet with Mel Gibson and Glenn Close, Othello with Laurence Fishbourne and Henry V with Kenneth Branagh have been seen by a surprising number of teenagers. Often they have not understood it all, or even half of it, but they have been affected by the powerful characters and by the Shakespearean magic which has affected audiences around the world for centuries. They want to know more, they want to understand, and what better motivation can any teacher ask for than that students WANT? That alone is sufficient reason for any English teacher to start a course in Shakespeare.
As seen through Shakespeare’s exploration of universal themes, relatable, insightful, and knowledgeable characterization, and it’s intellectually stimulating entertainment value, Hamlet, demonstrates that it is still appropriate for students to study it today. In an era where nothing is simple and nothing is easy to understand, Shakespeare has managed to capture – 400 years earlier- the issues and people of our society today, all the while engaging us at the same time.

Macbeth is a tragedy play written by William Shakespeare. The play is about a power hungry who got pulled into the world of power and crime, eventually drove him to insanity, madness, and later death. Although this play is written in 1700s, it still attracts many audiences due to the themes and its relevance to today’s society. The main theme presence in Macbeth is thirst for power. There are many sub-themes such as dictatorial, corruption and sexism. Many of these concepts are still regularly used and are still controversial today. In today’s world the quality of the art form called writing is said to be somewhat diminishing, it is important for English literature to keep some studies of classic literature, such as Shakespeare. I think well rounded education must have a strong foundation in both modern and classical literature, for the foundation in classical literature, an in-depth study of Shakespeare’s works would be more than sufficient. Not only was Shakespeare so skilled in his writing that he has become a significant point in the history of literature, but a majority of his works were written on such basic human themes that they will last for all time and must not be forgotten.
Shakespeare’s plays were written in the 14th and 15th century in England, yet until this day it still has a huge influence on American English class. Why? Well because Shakespeare has a universal appeal with a rich language, complex characters with a theme that is timeless.
