Marksmanship and JROTC
Marksmanship is a very valued asset in the lives of American citizens. American citizens are very involved with conceal and carry and hunting, one can understand that the basis of safety is heavily involved with both. School systems in North Carolina require that in order for one to be on the Marksmanship Team, one must also be a student in the Reserve Officers Training Corps ( ROTC ) class. Many people believe that one does not need to be in ROTC to be on the Marksmanship Team. Students in the school can skillfully aim at a target and hit it. The Marksmanship Team should be public around McMichael High School and not just affiliated with ROTC. The ROTC department should allow students to join The Marksmanship Team

In seeking to determine whether the American Legion should open its doors to non-wartime veterans, we must begin with a look at the organization itself:
We make choices every day, from waking to sleeping our day is composed of choices and the results of these choices. These choices help to shape us to who we are and want to be. But, these results may not be foreseen and may be adverse or favorable depending on the situation. Topics and events in our history ranging from the literacy of common man to unnecessary gun violence were a result of un-foreseen consequences. Our world’s history has been shaped by these consequences forming the world to where we are today.
In this article Emmett Tyrell informs us about gun violence in schools and what the NRA has proposed to stop the gun violence, and mass shootings across America. While the gun control debate rages, many schools have become war zones, and all school zones are vulnerable. The National Rifle Association's has come up with a 225-page report contains dozens of recommendations to improve safety in our nation’s schools. The NRA’s National School Shield program will train and enable school personnel to carry firearms to protect our nation’s children.

It is a sad time in American history when one can easily recount recent school shootings in their own area. This ease stems from a sharp increase in the number of firearms brought into elementary and middle schools across the country, with an intense focus on the issue beginning after the shooting of 20 children from Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut. Most school shooters are male, white, and often upper middle class. They are also more, often than not, under some type of mental stress that is causing them to create this type of violence in our communities. In fact, many school shooters are never suspected of doing any harm to their peers and teachers until it is much too late.
... a Board of Directors and an Executive Committee. The Disabled American Veterans plans to provide health care, transportation, unique rehabilitation, and get the veterans a voice on Capital Hill. School shootings have altered American history greatly over the past two decades. From 1997 to 2007, there have been more than 40 school shootings, resulting in over 70 deaths and many more injuries. School shoot-outs have been increasing in number dramatically in the past 20 years. There are no boundaries as to how old the child would be, or how many people they may kill or injure. At Mount Morris Township, Michigan, on February 29th, 2000, there was a 6 year old boy who shot and killed another 6 year old girl at the Buell Elementary School with a .32 caliber pistol. And although many shootings have occurred at High Schools or Middle Schools, having more guns on those campuses would not be a good environment for children to grow up in. However, on a college campus, the pupils attending are not children anymore; the age range is from 17 to mid 20’s. Therefore they understand the consequences associated to the use of weapons and have gained more maturity. In April 16th, 2007, at Blacksburg, Virginia, there was a shooting rampage enacted by Sung-Hui Cho (23 years, from Centreville, VA) who fired over 170 rounds, killing 32 victims, before taking his own life at the Virginia Tech campus. Colleges and Universities would be a much safer place, for student and teacher, if guns were permitted on campus for self-defense purposes.
...sites of care. To be eligible for VA health care you must have served in the active military and discharged or released on conditions other that dishonorable. As a reservist or National Guard member you would have to be called to active duty other than training. After 1980 the veteran would have had to serve 24 continuous months, this might not apply to you for hardship, early out or a service connected disability. There are four categories of veterans that are not required to enroll but are urged to so they can better plan their health resources. Those are; veterans with a service connected disability of 50 percent or more, veterans seeking care for a disability the military determined was service connected not yet rated by the VA, veterans seeking care for service-connected disability only, and veterans seeking registry examinations for thing such as agent orange.
Although most security measures passively make schools safer, it is not nearly enough to prevent an individual who intends on creating mass violence from completing his or her task. State representatives, national organizations, school staff, and parents need to come together to figure out the most reliable ways to prevent an active shooter situation from occurring in their schools. One solution that has been active is many schools have partnered with local law enforcement agencies to provide a police officers to patrol school grounds....
The NRA commenced promoting shooting sports to American youth by establishing rifle clubs at major colleges, universities, and military academies. Shooting clubs continue on college and university...
Allowing guns to be carried at all times around college campuses may cause a student, teacher or other official to assume that a person could be a threat and therefore firing at an unarmed person causing that individual to not only be losing their education but to be put on trial for a murder they didn’t mean to commit. Those individuals who shoot first without understanding of the situation could cause more harm to the college and their surrounds than necessary. This could possibly lead to a loss of students and
We as a society can at least even the playing field. I am for giving students the right to carry firearms on campuses in an effort to even the odds, help students feel safer, and train them for emergency situations. The news is constantly filled with headlines about college campuses turned into war zones, but
Gun safety is a subject that has been a main topic in the past few years among many, especially within politics. It is something that has become a substantial topic in the past few years due to many shootings and accidents that have occurred with today’s youth. It is a topic that needs to be addressed.
