Values Vases Society America, a great patriotic, valued country. Values are the regard that something is held to deserve, the importance, worth, or usefulness of something. Values build up a strong society in the American culture, it gives a sense of following. Different values suite certain people. Values are gifts we Americans need to cherish and place deeply in consideration, for it represents who we are as Americans. Citizens of America deserve the best values. Americans work hard to support themselves, their families, their country, and their dignity. As part of a society to this great country we wouldn't be able to support these treasures without the important values of “respect” and “family”. Late in the novel the last scene in fact, Ralph talks about how much of a smart friend Piggy was, “The tears began to flow and sobs shook him. He gave himself up to them now for the first time on the island; great, shuddering spasms of grief that seemed to wrench his whole body...Ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of man’s heart, and the fall through the air of the true, wise friend called Piggy.” (p202) Ralph talks about all the darkness he and Piggy went through while being stuck on this Island for six plus months, and how without the value of his wise friendship with Piggy, there was a chance he wouldn’t be alive.
