Someone in aviation who has been an inspiration to me is John Glenn. No one in my family has any background in aviation and I had not meet any pilots prior to starting my private pilot training. For a large amount of my childhood, the first person to come to my mind when I thought of a pilot was John Glenn. I always was, and still am, a big fan of the movie “The Right Stuff.” The reason I enjoy this movie isn’t just because of the cool planes they show and all of the space missions. The reason I still like this movie is because it showed how the people flying theses missions were no different than anyone else. John Glenn didn’t wake up one day and know everything there was to know about aviation. He put in more work than the pilots next to him and was chosen to fly each of his missions because he was the best man for the job. …show more content…
Another reason that John Glenn is inspiring to me is the fact that he was well accomplished before orbiting the earth. Glenn was the first American to orbit the earth, however it is his other achievements leading up to that event that make him great. Glenn served as a fighter pilot in World War II and Korea. Personally, I have always had an incredible amount of respect for the pilots of World War II because of how new aviation was at the time and how little was known. In addition to his service in the military, Glenn also flew the first supersonic transcontinental flight across America. This flight is a major moment in the history of aviation. If someone were to read the background of John Glenn as a story, they would probably say it’s too much and not realistic for one person to do. The fact that Glenn was already a highly respected American before doing what no other American had ever done is truly
Lindbergh also inspired many people to create works based on him. For example, a documentary created 2 years ago showed Lindbergh’s famous flight to Paris, postage stamps were created to honor Lindbergh, Mickey Mouse imitates Lindbergh in a short film last year, a song called the Lindbergh was released after the flight, and a lot more. Charles Lindbergh has revolutionized the world to us today, opening up the possibility of air travel for average citizens, like us. As of now, Charles Augustus Lindbergh is Time’s youngest Person of the Decade. Thank you, Charles, and we will always be in your debt.
John Glenn was an all-American Marine pilot. Glenn was a religious family man who was ready to do anything he could for his country. He became the poster boy for America's Mercury Project.
Our nation had many great people who have changed our nation’s fate throughout the history. These people may not be remembered but have changed our nation’s direction. People like John F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln, John Adams, George Washington, and etc. were remembered. But a person like John Hancock, about 1/300 of the population of Unites States of America knows about him. Even though he is not remembered, John Hancock is one of the most extraordinary people who have change the fate of our nation.
Amelia Earhart and Louis Armstrong are one of the two most influential heros from the nineteen-twenties. In the nineteen-twenties, during the great depression, where basically all hope was lost about a basic daily life was gone, but these two individuals in specific, made hope come back and revive the people who suffered through the depression. This allowed everyone to see them as an “influential god” that lifted everyone’s spirits. As you can see, Earhart and Armstrong were two very great people who allowed the mind to think creatively through motivation to do the impossible.
There were many things people didn’t know about Charles Lindbergh and he was a big influence in the 1930’s and gained popularity with his son being kidnapped and his famous flight.
Charles Lindbergh was an American aviator who made the first nonstop flight across the Atlantic ocean.
...oung American men had to endure from the time that they had joined back in their boot camp days, and the brutality of war that showed them no mercy. To me the importance of the movie was to show what truly went on over in Vietnam through the eyes of a soldiers eyes of what happened, as the film created a very disturbing yet a real picture of The Vietnam War.
This is why John Glenn was famous.Always remember him as the man who orbit earth 3 times in one day. Never forget he was one of the brave one’s to do something for our country and this is why John Glenn is my idol.
Some famous and notable Eagle Scout are, Neil Armstrong, first man on the moon, General Ford the 38th president, and Mick Rowe from Dirty Jobs on the Discovery Channel. I personally look up to all three of them, but I specifically look up to Mike Rowe, because of his promotion to the working class. But you don’t have to be famous to be looked up to. Many other scouts looked up to me for advice when doing their projects. I am greatly honored by this.
My major influence and inspiration is from my father. He came to America from Syria and persevered to become an anesthesiologist, which is a very stressful job. When he first arrived to the states, he would constantly back and forth between New York and Texas to finish his research and residency. He shared a claustral apartment with four roommates and could only afford minimal food. Daily he struggled so that he could provide for his family and offer them a safe and stable life. All of his persistence and determination continually inspires me to work hard and achieve my goals. He is
First, I saw an air show and that inspired me to become one of the first successful female pilots. Then, I was asked to fly across the Ocean I accepted it and then I found going to be a passenger on the plane. Then finally Neta Snook led to my big achievements. She was my first flying teacher. That’s how I became famous and who helped with that.
Wilbur and Orville Wright were pioneers, skilled craftsman, and engineers not only in aviation but in many other trades as well. “They loved to tinker and experiment with mechanical things and it characterized the Wrights through out their lives. Each of the brothers had a deeply ingrained inquisitive streak that was nurtured in a home that was encouraged.” (Moolman, 1980, p. 107) They had a good family upbringing, but moved frequently. The Wright brothers paved the way for aviation to take off with their thoughts, ideas, and inventions.
In conclusion, Christopher Columbus and Charles Lindbergh were both very skilled and known explorers that went through tragestic difficult times to get to where they are now. They both worked hard and made us proud to call them both one of our famous explorers. Christopher Columbus and Charles Lindbergh were very heroic and special for all of
Wernher Von Braun worked at NASA, and on the V2. He created a lot of complex technology that had a large impact on the world. Furthermore, he was a great leader, and wasn’t afraid to do what was right. Wernher Von Braun is a hero for what he is like, how he impacted the world, and his ability as a leader and engineer.
Every piece of me has seemed to come from an inspirational woman who has somehow graced my life. Whether for a second or for a decade, they have made imprints on my soul. To limit myself to describe the one person who has given me the most inspiration would be virtually unfeasible. I am a collage of influence and choice made by those with whom I have interacted.
