In the Twenty-First century individuals rely on technology more heavely then ever especially in the past twenty years. Deos this mean that it should be encorraged to endoubtidly rely on technology in and ways to make life easier in school?
Handwritten cursive notes are an important study tool to individuals who either; take school and study's more seriously then others, or simply find it an important tool to use. Cursive is an important tool that connect both the left and right side of the brain as well as "downloading" short term memory into long term memory much like the way sleeping does.
Although cursive should be taught and encorraged by schools it however should not be required in order to give individuals a choice or not to take a
What would the world be like if cursive wasn’t invented? Cursive should not be taught in schools. It is sometimes difficult to learn cursive. Depending on how the teachers teach and the age of the student it could be a very long process to learn cursive.
Module 1 assignment was to write our current vision of the future of education and learning covering each of the STEEP areas. STEEP includes Social, Technological, Environmental, Economic and Political. In the assignment, technology was said to be an area that a lot of educators are turning to. However, the question has always come up, is this a good idea? At times, it feels like a disadvantage to students who cannot afford the technology. Also, technology can handicap students, but since there is no way to turn from it now, why not try to do it correctly?
With the swarm of technology, handwriting, a vital skill, may be on the brink of extinction, despite that it is able to create a “model citizen, assimilate immigrants, and even reform juvenile delinquents” (Korper). Believe it or not: handwriting is important. However, the debate about handwriting is still questionable. Handwriting allows for effective memory retention and is an significant and unique action to develop certain regions of your brain (Grossberg). However, handwriting is also outdated and lacks the agility of the keyboard (Korper). Nonetheless, some of these positive aspects of handwriting are largely due to the ‘drill’ factor emphasized in the Palmer Method of handwriting used present day (Korper).
Cursive should not be taught in schools! Schools don’t need cursive. There are other things that kids could be doing in class. Read my next paragraph to find out what and why.
In conclusion, Cursive writing is very well out dated. We use technology now more than ever. Maybe a new common core standard should be computer skills. As cursive writing holds no benefits to students. The truth comes out, cursive writing has essentially disapeared. So why ever bring it
Thesis: Cursive writing should be taught in school because children today only know how to hashtag and text. Very few actually know how to write in cursive. Learning cursive will enhance students’ spelling ability and reading skills. It will also help students with learning disabilities.
Sadly in todayś society, technology isn´t always being used to educate ourselves and it isn't being used to an advantage. According to Bauerlin, he states
With technology on the rise students will be spending more time typing, and less time actually writing. Rafael Guerrero states in his article “Are We Seeing the Death of Cursive?” that “[I]n the minds of some, the need for teachers to spend more time getting students to meet state standards and master computer technology has made cursive less relevant.” A large concern for teachers today is to get students to the point of being able to satisfy state standards rather than teaching them material which will benefit them in the future. Teaching third graders how to write in cursive has been one of the main lessons taught for years. Just because the technology is on the rise it should not mean that children do not get the same education generations before have received. Depriving children of this knowledge would be unfair. Students need this writing skill in order to read historical documents from the past. Students will also need to know it when they take the PSAT and SAT in high school for the written statement. Teaching young children how to write in a whole new form of writing is a daunting task, but it is a necessity for them to be able to develop properly and succeed in
In my honest opinon, I think that cursive should still be taught in schools. In the first passage of "Cursive Is a Brain Tool", they ask if cursive is not important anymore. They give very good reasons on why we should still teach it. In the first passage of "Cursive Is a Twenty-First Centry Dinosaur", they also ask why we should even value cursive. Well, in my next paragraph I am going to tell you why we should still value cursive more than we should vaule typing.
Wow look at this, writing in cursive is 50% literacy and there is not enough old-fashioned being taught in schools, whether it’s cursive, manuscript, or typed. In my opinion I strongly believe that cursive should still be taught in schools today. Because you need to be able to read cursive. You also need to learn how to write your signature, and even learn a valuable skill. So, that’s why I think we should learn cursive in schools today.
Finally I am able to describe my opinion in the situation, if whether or not society is becoming too dependent on technology. I believe that most of the times technology is helpful in carrying on everyday life, but at times technology isn’t really needed. Technology is used a lot to communicate, but some families don’t even spend time together and later just fall apart. To me medical technology is a very important factor to account for in this situation. Because it can either kill someone or save them. Education has also been brought up into this argument for helping students and affecting students. Family separation, medical advances, and education play a major rule in my decision toward this topic. Technology is a helpful tool for many people while to others it is just a distraction. Technology will never stop being developed but some of the thing being created and how they are used are really not the nessessary
Over the past few years technology has taken on a whole new meaning. We have moved from the days of chalkboards, to whiteboards, to interactive whiteboards. Our students seem to be more computer savvy than their teachers. Home telephones are starting to become a thing of the past, and cell phones have turned into mini-computers. Technological geniuses have even tried to eliminate books by creating electronic books, for example the Kindle and Nook. It has become pretty evident that being technologically smart is a necessity in today's world.
Technology affects every aspect of our lives. From romance to business, it has shown its presence everywhere. But technology has had a huge impact on education that cannot be denied, and has done nothing but improve the quality and quantity of education.
In conclusion, since technology is exceeding our humanity, humans have relied on technology for everyday use. Technology is also affecting our future generations with providing the ease of doing school assignments without using their knowledge. Also, toddlers today are professional in using electronic devices before they even pronounce a word. On the other hand, children also rely on the use of technology their entire life like a bad habit. In the end, technology lessens a person’s intelligence and thinking skills, because he/she depended on technology rather than figuring it out on their own.
Technology is making our life easier than before, but are we getting too much dependent on it? Technology is getting improved by past decades. It has become a part and parcel in everyday life. Without it, people would have a lot of trouble to keep pace with the whole world. At the same time, todays new generations incredibly dependent on it. They do not want to use their brain as there are lots of search engines they can easily access and can find out what they want. Technology creates problems about pollution and global warming and at the same time people are using technology to reduce these problems. Overdependence on technology is harmful for humans’ existence because it creates addiction that makes people inactive, decrease job opportunities and causes physical or mental disorders that is a great threat for mans’ life.
