Why is immigration hurting America? Immigration has affected us in so many ways. For example, each year Mexican drug cartels collect billions of dollars in the illegal smuggling of drugs to the U.S. and these problems have gotten to a point where the President of the United States wants to build a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico. Immigration is harmful to the safety and economics of America, thus it should be stopped.
A major reason why immigration is bad for our nation is due to the fact that it is bad for many American workers in our nation. Immigration can cause reform bill S. 744 of those bills will harm American workers in some way. The bill is structured to help attract low skilled immigrants and spur illegal immigration
which overcrowds our nation’s low skilled workers in competitive labor markets. The influx of low skilled and illegal immigrants will decrease the wages for American workers. Therefore, the government must consider the impacts of granting illegal immigrants legal status on Americans’ employment and earning opportunities. In fact, over the last several decades, immigration has accounted for 40 percent of the 18 percentage point decrease in employment rates among African Americans. Another reason is they create a bad mass legalization which can really hurt the U.S. A legalization is the action of making something that was previously illegal permissible or allowed by law. The push to grant legal status to unauthorized immigrants is about politics and money, with politicians and corporations pushing the issue, for many different reasons. This is bad for U.S. workers, it feeds overpopulation, environmental degradation, and will overwhelm federal immigration workers. In addition, this would keep happening in the future. Some politicians and law enforcement officers argue about the census of illegal and legal immigrants. Legal immigrants are positive for the economy and pay more into the system than taking out. Also, Legal immigrants expand the gross domestic product (GDP) and add to the tax base. This helps keep Social Security Solvent. Although, they may help out in the economy they affect much more. With the immigration conflicts heating up in Congress and in the White House, immigration opponents are campaigning against common-sense reforms. Their current line of attack is to claim that legalizing the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States will be too costly for our nation. Groups falsely suggest that immigrants are “takers”-people who use more public benefits than other groups and that as a result, will cost the United States trillions of dollars. Immigration is a bad thing for our nation and will influence it in so many ways. Such as it can hurt American Workers and make many of them lose their jobs. Also, they cause a mass legalization which is bad for U.S. workers, helps overpopulation, and environmental degradation, and also will overwhelm federal immigration workers. Also, immigration causes many of the conflicts in Congress and the White House. Immigration is a bad thing in general for the United States of America.
The immigration debate has been in the news a great deal recently. Most of the attention has been focused on the illegal immigrants entering our country from Mexico, mostly Hispanics and Latinos. Uncontrolled immigration is harmful to the United States. It harms the American worker and it harms the American economy. The open borders are a threat to national security because terrorists, smugglers, and drug dealers can also freely cross the border. These key facts cannot be ignored and outweigh the claims that race and ethnicity are part of the debate. There is an invasion in the United States, an invasion of Illegal Aliens. These illegals are hurting the U.S. economy and jeopardizing the welfare and safety of all American citizens. The government is currently trying to pass legislation, called The DREAM Act, to provide amnesty to over 13 million illegal immigrants. Amnesty cannot be allowed to illegal immigrants! There are several problems that stand out when discussing the illegal immigrant problems: financial ramifications, criminal issues, and of course, jobs.

The United States approved the Immigration Reform and Control Act in 1986, which allowed the American Government to punish American companies that consciously employed illegal immigrants (Nadadur 1037-1052). The United States’ Government Immigration Reform and Control Act has been unsuccessful in controlling illegal immigration. It is estimated that illegal immigration into the U.S. has a yearly interval of three hundred fifty thousand people (Rousmaniere 24-25). It is apparent that the 1986 act was not able to keep a handle on illegal immigration. Illegal immigration continues due to the fact that immigrants only take the jobs available to them, which in turn helps support the United States’ economy, so measures should not be taken to halt immigration.
One negative of illegal immigration is that the immigrants take advantage of tax benefits. Over 59% of illegal immigrants are uninsured (Ruark). This low rate of insurance comes despite a higher use of Medicaid than U.S. citizens. Around 24% of immigrants use Medicaid compared to only 14% of Americans using Medicaid (Ruark). Immigrants pay less in taxes than they receive in government benefits. This places a burden on native taxpayers (Hanson). Immigrant households in some states are more numerous relative to the native population. This means the immigrants have more children causing them to use public education more. Illegals earn lower wages which means they have lower tax payments while having a greater use of public benefits (Hanson). An example of this was in California and New Jersey where the “NRC estimates that the short-run fiscal impact of immigration was negative in New Jersey and in California” this was due to these reasons of taking advantage of public benefits (Hanson).
While immigration for our country is good the ability to become a legal citizen has become insanely hard therefore leading immigrants to illegally cross our border, which negatively impacts our country.
