When I first watch baseball, I had know idea how to play the game. I didn't know how the game works. The only fun thing that I like about baseball was when I was little was that watch my brother play and the team was good, so when I watch my brother play when I was little all I said was “Hit it far” and some people hits the ball and my eyes just comes really big, but then the ball just went to third base I and see the guy stop the ball and threw it to first base and all I see the runner going back to his dugout and I had know idea why he was going back. A few days later I got signed up for t-ball because once I saw how my brother team played I felt like playing and I had a dream. My dream was to it was to be good as them. When I was playing t-ball the coaches had to teach me a lot because on the first day of practice I had know idea what was going on. So each practice, I come out and I heard “Jacob come in” coach said then I heard for the same coach “Put on your helmet and grab a bat, so I listen and then there was a tee on the side and I took the first swing and I miss the whole tee so the coach help me how to hit the ball and said keep …show more content…

Also in tee ball the thought me how to throw the ball and I came really good throwing the ball and then coach said ball come to you try to stop it and they didn't teach me how to fold so they just said ball to you throw to first base and when I trow I didn't know you got to throw it before the runner touch 1st base because I use to take my time and throw it. So it tee ball I learn a lot from all the coaches, but then I moved up to coach pitch and that without a tee it came more hard. When I was in coach pitch it was hard because there is no tee and there is a coach pitching underhand. When the coaches pitch I usually miss the ball and then I went home a I was thinking back to tee ball and I remember the coach teaching me keep an eye on the ball all times. In coach pitch they also taught me how to throw in time. The coach tells me to try flid the ball and then throw it before the runner reach to first base, but I use to field the ball really slow so then i make a good throw the ball. When I played coach pitch when I throw the ball to first base sometimes I them out. In coach pitch I use to play around a lot and didn't care about the game. The next level that I went up after coach pitch was minors.
Now in the minors it is way different from coach pitch because you are playing with bigger people. When I was in minors I was scared a lot because now the coach don’t pitch to us we go to hit off the other team pitches. When we hit off the other team pitches some team can be fast some pitches can come wild and it can come slow. I think that when I went up to minors , I thought it was hard and I couldn't handle. When we played our first game it wasn't that hard it was just easy, and you got to work harder. After our first game coaches went to talk to us and then he told us if you guys want to be good all you gotta do is to work hard and then show it out on the field. So in minors the coaches told us how we can work hard. So in each level I went to so far I
learn. After Minors it was majors and in majors that where everyone is good at baseball they know the game and the situation where the next play if the runner on first and third. When I went up to majors the coaches help me learn the game better. Everyday I come early to the baseball practice I the coach explained to me how the situation and sometimes he tested me. During practice coaches hit balls to us and a sometimes he put runner on base so that we know what to do so that if it happen during games times we can make the play and get out the inning fast.
I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter, that the only thing I knew about pitching was it was hard to hit. ... When I grow up I want to be an MLB player. A person I look up to is Felix Hernandez. I look up to him because he is a good baseball player. This is why I want to be a baseball player.

Mental preparedness separates the average baseball players from the elite ones. A dedicated baseball player shows up ready to play and succeed in whatever situation may arise. Baseball is a mental game, and concentration is key to keeping a player mentally prepared. Baseball is both a fast and slow sport, for it is slow between pitches, but very intense during them. During pitches, it is a players time to regroup himself and think of all the situations that could arise during the next pitch. During the play, everything happens fast, and there is no time to think about what to do, it is all instinct, so the ability to avoid mental errors is crucial. Mental mistakes often lead to physical mistakes, which is when everything goes sour. Mental confidence plays such a critical role in how a person physically plays. When a player is mentally down on himself, it is extremely hard to raise his confidence back up, and most of the time he cannot. A determined baseball player’s mind is totally different, an error is a learning experience,
Now, I play baseball whenever in my spare time, which helps me reach my overall goal of playing the sport. It used to be for fun, but now I am trying to go farther than just having fun in the sport. I have had to do many things to get where I am, but I do not want to be finished yet, I want to keep going throughout my life and keep succeeding. “Baseball is a good thing”. Baseball - Talk about something I live and die for. This sport means more to me than my first kid will ever mean to me. No not literally but that is how important and meaningful this sport is to me. This sport has given me the opportunity to meet some of the greatest people and most inspirational people in my life. More than anything this sport has taught me to fail at something and be okay with it.
I had played softball in P.E. enough to know the basics…or so I thought. I stood there leaning against my bat listening to Coach McGownd talk. As he talked I began absorbing everything he said. Gone were the days of simply stepping up to the plate to hit. Now, each at bat had a purpose and guidelines to follow in order to maximize the batters chance of successfully hitting the ball. There was so much information—proper stance, proper mechanics, how to set up in the batters box based on what you wanted to do (i.e. bunt, pull the ball, hit opposite, slap hit), and so much more. When Coach McGownd finished giving us our instructions, we shuffled off to our assigned station and began doing our assigned drills. I happily watched as the older, more experienced players took their swings. The sweet pinging of the metal bats against the balls and laughter blanketed the field. I patiently waited as the older players took their turns. When my turn came I picked up my bat, stepped up to the tee and followed along as my brain got its clipboard out and started checking off each step I had just learned. I took my swing and was awarded with a nice popping sound as I made contact with the ball. I knew then, that this sound of the bat making contact with a ball would become one of my favorite sounds. I continued to rotate through the drills enjoying the repetitiveness of the task. Time passed by quickly as I got lost in the
I chose this piece because it’s the beginning, the reason why baseball got started. Also because I am learning about a sport that began so early and evolved into a major league sport. Many people find baseball can be boring because it is so long, its nine innings and that can last a while. The way the sport is, it is set up in a way that when your favorite team is winning, you tend to forget about how long the actual game is. This first inning takes place as early as the 1800’s and going into the 1900’s, explaining who started baseball. One interesting fact that I took heed to be the fact that baseball was not called “baseball”, it was actually called “base”, the game of ball.
One diamond, four plates, nine players, a sweaty uniform, cleats, a bat, and a ball are the only things I’ve dreamt of since my first baseball practice when I was three years old. I remember the way it felt to smack the ball off of the tee and have everyone in the stands cheer and scream for me as I ran for first base as fast as I could and never wanting to leave the field even after it had gotten dark outside and all the field lights had been shut off. Baseball has been all I’ve ever wanted to do with my life from the very beginning. I can’t imagine doing anything other than eating, sleeping, and breathing the game of baseball. So when people ask me, “What are your plans after high school?” all I’ve ever known myself to say back was, “I’m not sure but it 'll have something to do with baseball.” With this being said, I have decided to be a baseball coach so I can pass down the knowledge I have for the game I love so much to people younger than me that love it just the same as I have and still do.
Growing up, I have always had a passion for baseball. To me, it is much more than just a sport. There have been times when it has acted as an escape from many problems in my life, as I feel that when I am on the diamond, nothing can hurt me. I am aware that many people feel this way about the sport they love, but sadly their careers often come to an abrupt end due to injury. I have a personal connection to this experience.
With seconds to spare I arrived at batting practice and began to prepare for my game. I hear coach call out my name and as I he acknowledged that I was there he told me I was pitching. My brain shifted and went into a whole new mode, I was more focused and more determined than I have ever been. This was the biggest baseball game of my career and I 'm starting on the mound. Honestly it couldn 't have turned out any better, the fate of the pin and my team lied in my hands and I loved the pressure. The pressure made me thrive and before I knew it our team was marching onto the field for the national anthem. During the singing of the national anthem I peeked into the crowd and first row down the first base side was the little boy I met on the cart and his dad sitting right next to him. This game was for that little boy, I needed to impress him. I pitched six strong innings and my team ended up winning the game. It was the most exciting game of my career and the best part was being greeted with the best pin in the tournament after such a spectacular win. The little boy ran out into the middle of the field where we shook our opponents hands and in front of everyone in the stadium handed me the only thing I cared about besides winning. I was in the best mood for the rest of the day and I rewarded myself with a nice long sleep. I could only image what the next day had to
I completely forgot about baseball in NYC after 9/11. That was an amazing moment. I myself am not a huge baseball fan, but remembering that moment gives me goosebumps. I am playing basketball and my team is about to win the state championship. I go to school the next day, I sit down and my teacher gives me my report card. I got really bad grades and I remember that my coach said that we need good grades to play on the team. Now I have to go to basketball and tell my coach. How am I going to tell my parents and my coach? I go home and give my parents my report card. My parents cry out, “omg you can’t play on the team any more.” “You know how hard your team worked to get where you guys are at, and now you are letting your team down . Go to your room now Gabe!!!” Now I am scared what my coach is going to say about this. I go to basketball, my team is in line to give our coach our report card so we can play on the team. Every one got good grades but me. It is my turn to give my coach my report card but he has to go to the back for something but i want to get it over with and am so scared. I am biting my nails sweating on my forehead waiting for coach to come back he finally came back he says when i give him my report card , “what happened?” I tell him, “ I am not doing good in school”. He says “you know you can’t play on the team now right?” I say “yeah”, with a sad face and voice now i go home and go to sleep sad.
Listen I have nothing against soccer but i just hate sports in general. And I am not really into that stuff. But I still have to write an essay about it, but hey it's still a grade. And to be honest with you my mind just wanders off when I watch sports. And some people say it's simple, but it’s not simple to me. And to get all the equipment you need you have to spend money and I rather spend my money on Video Games. And I also don’t like to run around a lot. There are also many rules in soccer.
