Most football fans see baseball as this lazy, laid back sport. Sometimes, it’s even referred to as a girl’s sport. On the other hand, they view football as the most physical sport. Often called a man’s game. The thing that these football fans don’t consider is the big picture. Baseball and football are both similar in that they have the best players in the world in their professional leagues. But, there are so many more factors that play into these two sports than what seems obvious to the eye. When it comes to the level of difficulty, baseball, rather than football, is the harder sport of the two to play professionally. This is because of the physical and mental aspects of the game, the ride to get to the highest level of play, and the skill level. …show more content…
Furthermore, football and baseball fans need to recognize just how physical of a sport baseball really is; along with the mental toll that the sport takes on an athlete at its highest level of play.
Looking at football, it is easy to see that there is more physical contact. They can hit each other, they must wear heavy equipment, and the pace of the game is very fast. Football fans see the hard, brutal, physical contact and the frequent injuries. They also see how big and built these amazing athletes are, to a point where they would say something like: “Those guys are animals, they’re like superhuman.” Yes, in football, it is all about who is the strongest, who is the fastest, who can bench the most, etc. What they don’t take into perspective is the short sixteen game season of football, and a few more games if a team makes the playoffs. In baseball, you don’t have to be the biggest, strongest, and fastest guy out
there. In football, the mental side of the game is all about getting amped up, becoming an animal, and being focused. The quarterback deals with the most mental stress. He is responsible for everything that goes right and wrong on the offensive side of the ball. He takes the blame for other player’s mistakes. In baseball, failure happens more than success. A player is considered an above average player, when he fails seven times out of ten. No one has ever even been half way to be a perfect hitter in baseball. Being perfect would be having a batting average of 1.000. Dealing with all the failure in baseball separates players. It takes mental toughness to a whole other level. It’s one thing to get a mindset for one big game a week, only sixteen on the year; compared to having to get prepared and be 100% focused every single day of the week, for the 162-game season. You can go 0-5 with five strikeouts and make two errors, and still be expected to come out and play an hour after for the second game of a double header in one day. That takes a certain kind of person to have that mental toughness.
Baseball has been of the longest living sports in our world today. The game started with the idea of a stick and ball and now has become one of the most complex sports known in our society. Several rules and regulations have been added to help enhance the game for everyone. Although baseball has endured several issues during its history and development of the game the game has still been a success throughout the world.
In college there are hated rivals that can’t stand each other. This causes college fans to have lots of pride in their teams. College stadiums also have student sections, which take the atmosphere on game day to the next level. College players know how the fans feel. This inspires them to play their hardest, and leave everything on the field to represent their school. In the NFL, instead of playing for a team because you want to represent them, players will play for teams who offer them the longest and largest contracts. Players hold out from participating in training camp because they want a bigger contract, and some even sit out games. The NFL seems to be more like a business, and geared towards making money. NFL players holding out, and being focused on money angers fans. Not all players are like this, but fans feel that the ones like this are being
A person that would like to play professional ball will choose baseball because there is a professional big league, such as the St. Louis Cardinals, but in softball that opportunity is not available. Baseball is played on more levels than softball. It is played on the professional, international, Olympic, college, high school, and little league levels. If a player is fortunate enough to make it to the professional level, he can make millions of dollars.
“Batter up!” the umpire yelled from behind home plate on the diamond-shaped field for the inning to begin. Adrenaline rushed through the players’ veins as the crowd cheering echoed from the bleachers to the outfield. Softball and baseball are team sports which both require an umpire and a diamond shaped field. All players are important. Most aspects of the games are the same. Each team has only nine players on the field at nine different positions. Each inning ends when there are three outs. Baseball generally consists of nine innings, whereas softball usually is played in seven innings. People think that softball is not as tough as baseball because they think that softball is a soft sport. I have been playing softball for about ten years, but prior to that I played baseball. However, the game of softball is on a whole different level. Softball plays require much more speed, and there is a greater possibility of getting injured. The game of softball is more hazardous and fast-paced than baseball.
Baseball is a fascinating sport that is exceptionally fun to play. This assignment is all about understanding the physics of a few key aspects of this sport. One might ask what physics could have to do with baseball? Like most sports baseball involves physical motion. Baseball encompasses all three planes of motion through throwing, hitting, and fielding. All of the classical laws of mechanics can be applied to understand the physics of this game.
Football fans can start to understand that football is not easier than baseball. All the long season, all the steps to get to the big league is way much difficult than football .Football is a more physical sport for the short-term but in the long run, baseball shows to be more physically demanding, which brings the mental side with
Sports bring friends, family and our country together more so than political debates or even church on Sunday. Whether it be football, basketball, baseball or everything in between everyone has their favorite team that they cheer for regardless if they are the shits or number one. Americans will have gatherings of their friends every week of the season to watch games and “support” their teams from hundreds of miles away. Sports have an enormous impact on our society in every way shape and form, whether it is kids pretending to be their favorite super star while playing in the yard or it is co-workers participating in fantasy sports or making March Madness brackets, but which is the most entertaining, is it the professionals that are paid millions of dollars to play or college kids struggling to get by while trying to earn an education?
Baseball is known as America’s national pastime, and has been played for over 100 years. Baseball can be a lot of fun, but is also extremely challenging to play, especially trying to hit a 90 mile per hour fastball. I am a very devoted baseball player myself, and over the years I have learned numerous key things about the game. Baseball does not only require physical strength to hit and throw the ball, but it also requires a great mindset, such as, mental preparedness, concentration, and a positive attitude.
Baseball is a very well known sport and often known as “America’s pastime” and softball is highly similar, but with a few key differences. Many people just assume that the sport of baseball is more difficult than softball, but don’t actually know the specific parts of each of the two. Also, if you’ve never played one or the other sport, you shouldn’t be assuming anything at all in the first place. Although many assume one may be harder than the other, baseball and softball both have particular factors which make them both complex in their own way.
Baseball is a unique sport in many different ways. It is the only major competitive sport that has no time limit. The success of a player is determined on how well he can play as an individual and how well the team plays along with him. There are many rules that determine the success of a player’s performance. A baseball game is played with two teams and each team is permitted 25 players per team; however this is only true for professional teams. There are three parts to baseball: offense, pitching, and defense.
Football is a game of adversity and emotion. People who have not played a sport or follow one closely don’t understand the emotion behind game. They think that football is just a game, but for those who are involved with the team don’t think so. All those horrendous hours of countless preparation are for something players and coaches love. About a few years ago, a football player at the collegiate level was told that he wouldn’t be able to play another down of football again due to his banged up h...
There aren't as many spots needed in baseball which makes it a little more easier and isn't time consuming such as wrestling is. Baseball is more like holding a pitch right and with the correct fluent arm motion. When wrestling is more like shooting a sweeping single and swiping the other leg out placing them on their back or stomach. Batting takes time to learn and lot of it. Its confusing if they drop their elbow on their swing and attack the ball with their hands it will take many reps to fix it. Baseball is where players get a rude awakening. No matter how amazing athletes are or think they are they always have bad technique somewhere. More than likely players will grow up playing that way. Although once they get a little higher it hits them, and it hits them hard. All those bad reps come and hit people by surprise when they got to restart from the beginning.
Growing up, I have always had a passion for baseball. To me, it is much more than just a sport. There have been times when it has acted as an escape from many problems in my life, as I feel that when I am on the diamond, nothing can hurt me. I am aware that many people feel this way about the sport they love, but sadly their careers often come to an abrupt end due to injury. I have a personal connection to this experience.
For most sports fans there is nothing like opening day and a baseball field. In recent years I have over heard several people say Baseball is not the National Pastime or National Game any longer. When I query these people the typical response is Football is our new National pastime/game. Frank Deford (Nov 7, 2012) a writer for Sports Illustrated said, "Baseball is what we used to be. Football is what we have become." I refuse to believe this based on my knowledge of both games. In this paper we will exam the facts and I would submit to you that Baseball is still the National Pastime/Game and it cannot be disputed.
The amount of contact in each sport is a prime example. In football, it is impossible to avoid physical contact, as it is a very aggressive sport with hard hits occurring every play. There is also a difference in the type of injuries within each sport. In football, injuries are much more severe. According to Head Case Company, football is the leading sport in concussions (“Sports Concussion Statistics”). It is common to have injuries in upper and lower limbs and in the torso and pelvis (“Sports Concussion Statistics”). There is also a difference in training between the two sports. Daily, our football practices consist of intense running drills, weight lifting, hitting and blocking drills, and many team building activities (BE3). When contrasting physical demands of football with golf, an obvious difference is that in golf there is no contact with opponents. There are also minor injuries that are common due to repetitive motions in the shoulder and elbow. Training for golf is much less strenuous, as it focuses more on muscle memory. Meticulous changes are often made to the swing and grip, and a sweat typically isn’t broken. Golf training heavily focuses on precision and
