Recommended: Pros and cons of animal testing in medical research
Around each year 26 million animals in the United States are taken away from their habitat and are used for animal testing. These animals are used for scientific developments and commercial products therefore when being tested on these animals they are harmed. Animal testing is wrong because animals have feelings, emotions, and a life. Animals should have the right to not be taken away from there habitat to be in a cage tested and abused. Since scientists are experimenting why not experiment on some thing other then animals. Human products should be used on humans since it’s for human and not used on innocent animals. This is one of the many reasons of animal extinctions and scientists are encouraging others to try and do there experiment on these poor animals therefore people around the world should stand against it. Medical treatments are often used on animals to see if it would work on …show more content…
humans because human beings and animals have similar organ system and how the body processes. Scientist study animals better to understand the animals body therefore they open the animals up while they are awake and alive. Millions of animals die each year for these type of experiment or are in some serious pain from medical researchers and almost all animals used in laboratories either die in testing or are killed at the end of the experiment. They use the animals for medical research such as cancer and heart disease. At this moment, millions of cats, rats, rabbits, dogs, mice, and other types of animals are locked in cages at labs around the world. They are suffering from pain, loneliness and are hoping to be freed. All they can do is sit in their cages and wait, in fear, for the next experiment to begin. When animals are stressed it causes them to begin to act in a strange behavior like pulling their hair out and biting their own skin. They get startled whenever someone they see someone walk by, scared that they will be next. After going through all that, almost all of them get killed. Clothing and makeup often use mammals for there products. Many known makeup brands such as Mac and Sephora use animals to test there products. When scientist use the products on there skin they shave off the skin, apply it to the skin to see the result, and they don't give them pain killers to ease the pain. If you notice the luxury brands such as Dior often use real fur for a jacket, they lock them up and cut off there skins for there own benefits. Right now many animals in labs are blind because of the makeup you are using each day. Society should stop the animal cruelty shops by not buying from them and making them lose money. There are many good make up and clothing brands that are cruelty free therefore people should give there attentions to them instead of the cruel animals products. It may be true that testing animals may prevent humans from being hurt but on the other hand, scientist can find other ways such as technology instead of harming animals.
Its safer because it preserves human population and it makes it safer to use once seeing it work on other living organisms but animals are still living creatures that suffer, it’s inhumane. It’s also may be true that testing animals for makeup is safe so the humans wont get any rashes or infections on there body but on the other hand, the animals that are being tested on will be harmed, burned, and possibly blind. In conclusion, there are so many reasons to stop animal testing but also there are reasons why they do it. Animal testing should be banned since we do not have the right to kill animals. Medical research can be done with other technology instead of using animals to harm. Make-up and clothing can use cruelty free products or just anything natural instead of using it on animal skin and eye. It’s inhumane to just sit around, buy products that use animals in lab, and watch animals die and suffer
everyday.
Animals should not be used as test subjects for any research. The innocent and helpless animals’ rights are being violated when they are involved during animal experimentation. These unfortunate animals do not have a choice whether or not they want to be involved in testing. They are not intended for people to experiment on for their own selfish reasons. It is not right to take advantage of the animals because they are helpless and cannot protect themselves. Animals and humans have similarities; they both behave, feel, think, and experience pain. Therefore, animals should be treated with the same respect as humans. The pain and suffering an animal is forced to endure is not worth any new product. It is cruel and inhumane to take advantage of an innocent animal. These tests that use animals to ensure the safety of products are extremely common without people even knowing about it. It is not fair to these animals to abuse their beauty. They are helpless and cannot control what is happening to them. Animal experimentation should be stopped because it violates the rights of animals and harms or even kills the animals.
Thirdly, animal testing is unnecessary and unreliable because animal organisms are not the same as human ones. Hence, if a certain cosmetic product is determined to be safe after an animal test is done it does not necessarily mean that it is safe for human use. Therefore, we cannot rely on animal testing and we cannot be always sure that a certain product is safe for human use. So, there are lots of animal lives wasted, but many human lives could also be lost if some drug or product cause harm or even death. This is a strong reason why animal testing should be banned in order to save animals and people
Right now, millions of animals—including mice, rats, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs and monkeys—are locked in tight cages in laboratories waiting in fear for the next terrifying and painful lab experiment to be performed on them. (“Animals Used for Experimentation”) Such testing is used for things like biology lessons, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and general cosmetic testing. (“Animal Experiments: Overview”) Animal testing should not continue in our world being that animals have rights similar to us, rights to live a life free of torture, free of being held against their will in a laboratory. Furthermore, animal testing is inhumane, it violates the lives of all animals used in such testing, it is very expensive for the inaccuracy of the results we obtain from it and it is unreliable as animals differ from humans in many ways. (“Pros and Cons of Animal Testing Facts”)
Another reason animal testing does not make sense is because we have alternative ways of testing. There are many new ways of testing besides testing on animals. By doing these other types of tests, people can save animals from pain and save their lives. In the article, “Alternative Testing” stated, “some new ways of testing could include ways like using tests on cells, using tests on types of tissues, and using tests on computer stimulations” (Howard). The article, “Ban Animal Testing” stated, “that an alternative method of testing is in vitro studies, which are cells used to test properties of drugs and tissues can also be used to test products and reactions from drugs as well” (Stachura). Some would argue to say that these alternative tests
In conclusion, animals should not have to go through the harmful and painful practices of animal testing because it’s humane, it violates the rights of animals and there are safer and more reliable alternatives. There are so many different reasons to stop animal testing, all of these things are done to animals in laboratories but if they were to be done outside of these places they would all be considered as crimes, so why should it be legal in laboratories? Animal testing is not only inherently wrong, but promotes unsafe and inhumane business practices that affects the animal’s life. Animal testing should be stopped immediately.
It is estimated that each year, over 100 million animals-including mammals, birds, fish, and amphibians-are killed in U.S. laboratories for various testings, according to PETA.org. Americans should reconsider their usage of animal testing due to the fact that humans have an improper advantage to animals. Organizations such as PETA, do whatever possible to protect the rights animals have. Due to such organizations, there have been more reasons to find ways to no longer find the need to test on animals. Animal testing is unfair to animals due to the subjection of unconsenting pain to when used for medical experimentation.
Each year millions of animals around the world are being killed and tormented for tests
For decades, using animals for laboratory testing has been a controversial issue. Typically, animal testing is used to test cosmetics and medicines that may be used on humans. Scientists tend to use animals for testing when there’s a chance that the chemicals used in the substances could cause harm to the person using them. It is estimated that more than 115 million animals world-wide are used in lab experiments every year. Since only a small proportion of countries collect and publish data concerning animal use for research, the exact number is unknown. The question is whether the use of experimenting with animals is morally right or wrong. Most people would agree that of course it is wrong. If these heinous acts were committed outside labs,
Picture yourself in a testing laboratory; needles, drugs, and knives pointed in your direction with you having no idea what’s going on around you, this is how animals everyday are treated, we have to stop this now! Millions of animals are killed in laboratories everyday with no chance to object to what the testers are about to do to them. Animals feel as much pain as humans do so why does it make it okay to test on them when they are so alike to humans? Every day people test makeup, shampoos, and medicines on animals, the strange thing is that animals have different skin, hair, and internal organs than humans have. Since the animals have different internal organs than humans only 5-25% of the testing results are agreeable between animals and humans. Humans don’t allow animals to have the right to say that they don’t want to be tested on, but humans have the rights to say they do or do not want to be tested on. There are many non-animal alternatives that humans can use to test products, but many testers refuse to use them. Do you think that these animals enjoy being tested on?! Animals are being tormented everyday in laboratories, animal testing must stop!
Animal testing is the use of non-human animals for scientific experimentation. There are estimates that 50 to 100 million vertebrate animals worldwide from zebra fish to on-human primates are used annually. Much larger numbers of invertebrates are used even flies and worms are used has model organisms are very important, experiments on invertebrates are largely unregulated and not included in statistics. Animals are euthanized after being used in a experiment. Some of these animals are purpose-bred and others are caught in the wild or they are supplied by dealers who obtain them from auctions and pounds. The testing on the animals are conducted inside universities, medical schools, pharmaceutical companies, farms, defense establishments and commercial facilities that provide animal-testing services to industry. Some of the tests that researchers do on the animals are biomedical research transplantation, drug testing and toxicology test, cosmetics and other animals are used for directional research, breeding and defense research. Organizations like PETA and BUVA thinks it it not a necessity for this testings. They think is is cruel, poor scientific practice, poorly regulated and that animals used for experimentations have an intrinsic right not be be used for experimentation. Many Americans don’t agree with testing on animals. Testing animals is wrong and they are just poor helpless animals and they die every day. They are testing animals with products such has soap, household cleaners, drugs, cosmetics, pesticides and other chemicals. Drug tests that are done on animals that pass the test end up harming or killing humans. Lists of animals that get tested daily are cats, dogs, monkeys, mice, and rabbits. The researchers test these ...
Animal rights are held entirely too high in regard. Many activist do not realize the benefits of testing on animals. They claim that it is "unethical" or "cruel" to perform experiments on such creatures. The truth is, the world as a whole has advanced tremendously in the past century due to animal experimentation. We are affected every day by at least one thing that has been influenced by animal testing. Many of the things we take for granted would not exist if it were not for experimenting with animals. The medicine that we need, the education that we receive, and the products that we use are just a few of the benefits that these animals bring to us. We should look at animals, not as poor defenseless creatures that are subject to cruel experiments, but as heroes that have improved almost every aspect of our life in todays society.
I think that animal testing is wrong because then it is cruel to the animals. The animals endure a lot of pain, suffering, distress or lasting harm. It is causing a lot of extinction to so certain animals. There is 62% of licenses granted by the government allowed animals to be subjected to moderate or severe suffering. They also are exposed animals to radiation in animals to potentially harmful substances.
These are the reasons why I believe that animal testing should be stopped. I believe that animals should have rights and be treated with value, if we do not stop animal testing we as humans are guilty of speciesism. Also, its not good for our economy, most of it is done for cosmetics when it isn’t even required, its cruel that most of the animals that are used have been bred specifically for testing, there ARE many good, even better alternatives to it, and its simply not practical. We shouldn’t be doing human tests that are for humans, on animals. As Dr. Robert Maronpot said “the problem is we don’t know what the findings really mean”. And we do not need to continue testing on animals, there is no real reason why we should.
According to the article” Save the Animals: Stop Animal Testing,” animals’ rights are violated when the sciences are doing the research and there are many similar ways between humans and animals, such as how they feel and behave. Even though animals cannot express their opinions, they still feel, think, and experience pain. When the sciences use animals to do the research, humans still need to respect them because of animals’ rights. Animals have their opinions they cannot explain and humans have a duty to protect animals’ rights. Animal testing should be banned because humans need to respect their minds.
A large issue is animal testing. “More than 25 million vertebrate animals are used in testing in the United States each year. When invertebrate animals are thrown into the mix, the estimated number rises to as high as 100 million.”(dosomething) The laboratory testing of animals is important to biomedical research, product safety testing, and education. Biomedical researchers use animals to extend their understanding of the workings of the body and the processes of disease and health, and to develop new vaccines and treatments for various diseases for humans and other animals. However, the morality, the necessity, or the validity of the studies are questionable. Thousands of animals are helplessly killed every year that animal testing is being conducted. “Ninety-four percent of animal testing is done to determine the safety of cosmetics and household products leaving only 6% for medical research” (about my planet). This can cause harm to the animals and may in turn be fatal. It is not fair nor is it humane to conduct experiments on animals to make sure a product or procedure is safe for us. There are no reasons to regard an animal’s life as if it is insignificant in contrast to a human life. During the testing, animals may be force fed or put in restraints in order for the scientists to get the product into their systems. Ani...
