Why IE?
The word Industrial Engineering is still anonymous to majority of population in India when compared to other fields like Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering, and I was no exception, until I came to know about this course in the junior year of my college. I frequently used to wonder about the uniqueness of both, Engineering and Management yet their mutual importance to each other. Any organization either a Hospital or an Industry there has to be a perfect blend of both Engineering and Management for its smooth working. Every time I thought about this subject, a question used to crop up and puzzle me. Is there a single course which is an amalgamation of both these areas? When I made a meticulous quest of such a course I came in acquaintance of the major, Industrial Engineering. On comprehensive research about the course I learnt about its manifold application. I acknowledged that it could be linked to everything, from determining queuing order of a ticket counter to pipe layout design of an oil Industry, Industrial Engineers have a vital role of minimizing the time and other essential factors. After realizing that this course would offer such challenges and fun, I acknowledged that this course is tailored for me and was in deep resentment for not being aware of the course earlier. But it was not too late, since I opted for production engineering in my bachelor’s I had like Ergonomics and Operations research which I have chosen for my current semester which has given me more detailed knowledge about the course.

...eld of interest I discussed with my project guide who is also the Head of Department about my decision of doing a project in the field of Industrial Engineering, he at first was surprised but after explaining about my future research interest in this field he readily accepted my request and agreed to guide me through the project. My current project is “Reduction in the Inventory” of the raw materials and finished products for renowned valve manufacturer Severn Glocon Pvt Ltd, Chennai and another project deals with the “Improvement in productivity” at TI Cycles India Pvt Ltd, Chennai. Both these projects being related to Industrial Engineering, I had to go through arduous home work and additional hours with my professors regarding the unknown concepts. These new experiences and challenges have additionally triggered my interest towards Industrial Engineering.
I gradually became interested in Industrial Distribution throughout my education career. When I was applying for college during my senior year of high school, I was having a difficult time deciding between the majors of Business and Engineering. Therefore, I applied to Computer Engineering and was put into Blinn TEAM. Since Blinn was more cost efficient, I declined that offer and applied directly to Blinn College. I completed all of my core classes at Blinn and applied to transfer into Texas A&M. I did some research and asked my fellow students about whether there is a major that combines both Business and Engineering, and I stumbled upon Industrial Distribution. I decided that was the best fit for me, so I applied to that major.

I’m a student at Tompkins Cortland Community College this is my first semester as a college student. I plan to go to college for four years and only be at TC3 for this one semester, then transfer to a four year school. College has grown around the world more than ever and more people are attending college more than ever. I have chosen to go to college because of the rewards after graduation. Yes it is another four years of school but by getting more education and an extended degree gives me more opportunities for better jobs and more money. The career I have chosen to study is business administration. I am hoping that it takes me to a great job managing a company or possibly being an accountant.
I have completed Bsc (Hons) Construction management at the University of West London, and I would now like to further my career by studying MSC Project enterprise and management at UCL. I have made this decision after understanding that this course will enable me to develop a broad understating of construction management of large and complex projects and increase my commercial awareness of these projects. I also expect this course to be taught with both academic rigour and place consistent emphasis on practical application of what I learn to construction environment. After working in construction for industry for almost 2 years, and studying a bachelor’s degree I feel I am more than capable of completing Msc Project Entriprise with success as I have already experienced the rigors & dynamics of university education.

Post my under graduation with an Engineering degree in Information Technology from Nagpur University, I realize that I needed to gain practical working experience as a Network Engineer to gain first-hand knowledge of what the life of a Network/System Engineer entails. At my job, I especially had the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge projects and discuss ideas with senior engineers and founder of the firm. I soon realized that, although I enjoy handling the complex situations and their upcoming results, I was unsatisfied with carrying out only routine procedures under the direction of others. My career goal is to become an Auto Mechanic and Shop Owner. Being an Auto Mechanic intends to have a variety of skills such as: having knowledge on a variety of knowledge with different car companies, the ability to diagnose the problem quickly and repair it fast and to perfection. They also have to have knowledge on every car part and currently be great with electronics. A shop owner has to be good with business, numbers, customer relationships, have the knowledge of an Auto Mechanic. The talents that I have to become an Auto Mechanic and a shop owner are that I have basic knowledge on cars, their parts, where to get cheap parts, good speaking skills. I’m beginning to be able to do a diagnosis on a car, I’m also good at electronics. I also have a few mentors helping me out.

Why do I want to be a civil engineer? Well, I am mainly interested in becoming a civil engineer for two reasons. My first reason is that I want to see something I designed on paper become real. I have always thought that was the coolest thing about engineers: they can design things like skyscrapers on paper, and then have them built because they are free of all errors.
