This program involves everything I would want in a career/experience. This program would allow me to take enjoyment in educating children as well as learning and beholding one of the most historically prosperous country. In my own employment experiences, I determine that I am happiest helping for the volunteer programs involving children. I am excited to have a chance to work with children as well as fulfill my love of history, art, and culture.
I have spent most of my adult life working in a job that I take very little joy from. The joy I have experienced in my current employment is helping others and providing them a reason to smile. What can top that feeling I get from helping an adult customer? Helping the children understand a math problem or seeing their face when they realized that they have read a page out of a book. Seeing a child face light up when they are having fun but learning as well. It is a great experience to get a child excited about learning. Their excitement builds my own excitement. Through out my years in high school I looked forward to going to 4-H camp as a counselor. I volunteered at the local club when I was old enough to do so. I knew it would be full of responsibilities to take care of and watch over children. It took patients and endurance to walk in the hot sun for most of the day doing nature walks but it also takes patients to encourage children to try new things and continue the path to have a great week at camp. The first year, I guided swimming and then I taught arts and crafts. For those years at camp, I was able to share something I love. It is absolutely rewarding. I considered to proceed back to university and obtain my teaching certificate but it was suggested I research this program first. I am more than willing to take TEFL courses while abroad while I teach to be more effective and productive ESL teacher. When I first read about the ESL academy, I was intrigued because I had never attended a professional development that addressed the needs of ELL students. I applied for the academy because there were no teachers in my district with ESL training or endorsements and because I saw it as an opportunity for both professional growth and professional advancement. Although I work in a district where there are very few ELL students, most of the surrounding districts have a statistically significant percentage of ELL learners. I hoped by attending the ESL academy, I would have an advantage by receiving training that will soon be essential for teachers in my district. Because of my previous training on meeting the educational needs of struggling learners and students from poverty, I expected that the ESL academy to offer more information along those same lines.
I have had several wonderful opportunities to work with children. At my school I enjoyed helping teach a young children's music class by playing songs for them, telling them about the violin, and helping them develop a love of beautiful music. I would enjoy continuing this as an adult. Last year I helped a kindergarten teacher in an underprivileged school, stapling papers and supervising children. I most enjoyed helping small groups learn the alphabet, supervising two children at a time as they tried to match the capital and lowercase letters and identify each letter.
I work with children and families now on a daily basis and enjoy it. I actually could never picture myself doing anything else at this point. Being able to clearly understand how my job contributes to the Air Force, the Joint Environment, and the DoD is extremely satisfying. I take my work seriously because I know that what I do can have a direct impact on the military’s ability to fight and win wars. When choosing what to study in college I knew that whatever I choose to study had to involve helping people. I grew up caring for others. Helping people was something that was instilled in me by my family at a very early age. So, to me the most rewarding feeling is to know that I helped someone. As a LPN, it will be my sole purpose to help others that are sick or unable to perform daily task for themselves. The simple fact of knowing that I will be helping others every day will give me a sense of accomplishment and purpose.
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew that in my future I wanted to become a teacher. I always looked up to my teachers, especially the ones I had in elementary school. I even played 'school' with my friends and pretended I had my own classroom. I loved being in charge. During a summer, I was given the opportunity to work as an Energy Express mentor and work with a group of eight children. This was one of the most wonderful experiences I have ever been through. I was a mentor to help guide the children, and by the end of the summer I felt as if I had really accomplished something. I am planning to pursue a career in elementary education. I love children, and just knowing that as a teacher I could make a difference in someone's life means so much to me.
I would like to have my own business in child care. I have always enjoyed being around children especially when they are young, which lead me to this career. The goal I hope to achieve is being able to be the base of guidance to children in the best way that I can just as Ms. Little and Mama Moultrie try to with their students in the book Rise by Corwin. Just as these teachers guide their students to make the best choices and aim for high education, I would love to be a part of that process with children and encourage nothing but the best. And in comparison to Bell’s description of the space traders, we may seem different and be treated differently but even though it is not only a white country, it should change to benefit all. I was able to have a great learning experience as I stood in front of 45 individuals and teach them finances. This is something that I feel I would like to pursue as my career and I found that this experience was meaningful in the way that I enjoyed teaching and helping others learn concepts that can help and change their lives. I feel that I learned from this experience how to be confident, professional and that I love doing this type of work.
I chose education as my career path after working in a classroom to fulfill a Field Study course. The children had a powerful impact; they were amazing; challenging, and most of all loving. In helping them, I quickly realized that I was the one receiving the gift that ultimately inspired me down the path of serving disadvantaged children. After experiencing two semesters in classrooms, I realized my enthusiasm for teaching was not a mere in-the-moment feeling but rather a genuine enthusiasm. I became aware that teachers are an important foundation in society and I look forward to the opportunity to develop the skills children need to adapt and apply for the rest of their lives by encouraging knowledge, character and resilience.
English language has been rated as one of the most important international languages nowadays. It has been found at primary levels around the world. Teaching English as a foreign language is not an easy task and need a lot of hard work, especially for young learners. However, starting earlier is not the solution for producing better English speakers. EFL teachers of young learners have to follow some strategies and techniques to understand and teach young learners better. YL Students who aged 5-12 can not spend two or three hours sitting on chairs and listening to teachers lectures as adults do. They lose interest more quickly and less able to keep motivated on tasks for long time because these students have short attention spans and are easily distracted. YL Students will be usually learning very basic material but a skillful teacher has to design creative lessons that get students attention and participation during the class, such as moving around and speaking with one another. Interacting with each other improves their communication skills and even building confidence in using the language. In addition, young learners are generally very enthusiastic at this level about songs and games. In order to encourage everyone to participate, it is important to include your sessions with different types of songs and active games to make the lessons relaxed and fun. The teacher should be able to create different activities to encourage and activate students that everyone can enjoy learning in.
