When my first grade teacher asked me what I wanted to be in the future I told her, “I want to be a doctor.” My answer stayed exactly the same when my eleventh grade English teacher asked the question. Ever since I was little science has always captured my interest. I was fascinated by the way our body worked and how everything had an explanation behind it.
In high school I was offered a variety of classes, and I soon fell in love with English and History as well. Although I was able to quickly grasp on the lessons taught in History class, I realized I needed a lot of time to understand the material in my science classes. However, this did not discourage me; it only increased my love for the class. I would quickly try to finish all my homework so I could begin reading my science textbooks. Last summer, I decided to give both fields (history and science) a try. I worked as an intern in Reshma Saujani’s campaign. She was the former candidate for New York City Public Advocate. During the internship I learned a lot about our country’s political history as well as the details of workin...
Why do I want to go to Brophy? It is quite simple actually, I want to go to Brophy because I believe the school and staff will give me the best chances of achieving my goals in life. Also, I want to go because when I attended the school during a shadow day I felt that I belonged there and that my personality fit right into what the school expects and wants in its students. Finally, I want to go to Brophy because I do not think that there is another high school in Arizona that is quite like it, from the school’s athletics to its academics and staff. In conclusion, I want to go to Brophy because the school is unique and matches my personality, giving me the best chances of going anywhere in life, while enjoying it.
I have been tirelessly searching for the best university for me for a while now. One with superb facilities, and a beautiful campus. One that offers me top education, a conducive environment for learning, and a memorable experience. A university that helps me develop both spiritually and intellectually. A university that allows me to find myself, not just in the classroom, but also outside the classroom.
Like Kathy, I enjoy science classes because they're equally challenging and time consuming. I also look forward to learning new concepts and problem solving in my math classes. However, my favorite class throughout high school, has been psychology. Learning the basis of human behavior and the mind, psychology introduced me to current theories and issues in areas such as cognition, motivation, and wellness. I believe I have the qualities to someday become an exceptional nurse practitioner. High school has taught me time management, the importance of ones health, and good study habits. If I continue using these helpful skills, I will be on the track to becoming a nurse practitioner in no
College is the biggest obstacle in any individual's life when trying to pursue a career they have decided on. Attending Rutgers University would help me pursue my dream of working in the Criminal Justice field as a Patrol Officer. There are many reasons a Rutgers education will help me achieve my career goals. The vast amount of resource, the diverse social atmosphere with plenty of extracurricular activities, and the ability to stay in New Jersey all contribute to how a Rutgers education would be beneficial for me.
From a time, longer than I could remember, I had always known that I wanted to have a career in the medical field. My first choice was in Obstetrics, then after a few years, it changed to Dentistry. It was not until around the age of 11 that I discovered the career that I wanted to pursue after college, which was Orthopedic Surgery. Now to this day, this has been the first career choice that I still follow, research, and can proudly say I still hope to obtain.
Whenever asked what my favourite subject is, Biology has been, and will always be, my only answer. It was bewildering to compare my body to a machine working harmoniously. The digestive system, the respiratory system and the circulatory system are coordinating with each other right underneath my skin. Realising that the 'blue lines' visible beneath the flesh of my hands are actually veins carrying deoxygenated blood fueled my desire to know more about how my body functions. To me, it has always been about getting to know my self better.
To the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Georgetown University, During the summer after my freshman year, I spent three weeks at Georgetown University studying Speech and Political Communications as a part of the Junior State of America program held on-campus. After that summer, Georgetown lingered in my mind as a university that, despite its location in an inarguably chaotic city, felt more like “home” than any other. While I was disappointed to be waitlisted for admission in the Class of 2021, I am still firmly committed to attending Georgetown University as my first choice for next fall and would happily submit my deposit immediately, should I be accepted off of the wait list. In the recent months since I submitted my application,
Greetings! I'm Maryam Adeyemo, and I would like to apply myself at Indiana University Bloomington. Reason being is, I feel like this university is great opportunity to meet new people, travel to amazing places I have yet to explore, and get a successful career in the future. My plans at Indiana University is to major in Neuroscience and/or Mathematics. I want to major in Neuroscience because I am very interested in the brain and how it functions, and I would love to learn more, while potentially helping others medically.
Medicine is a very complex and interesting felid, it 's constantly changing with the new advancements being made all the time. My interest in medicine came at a young age from going to various doctor’s appointments for myself and family members. I found it fascinating how doctors took care of people. I also enjoyed the interaction between the doctor and patient, whether it was a positive or negative interaction.I was very inspired by doctors and wanted to be like them. But I didn’t fully consider a career in medicine until I began high school.
During the adult years while growing up, choosing a career is the ultimate plan to set up for your future. However, it all starts from growing up. From taking your first steps to attending one of the most prestigious and elite colleges and universities in the nation. It all starts now. Learning and applying the information you are taught can help benefit you in what you want to pursue in life.
“Don’t do that. You’ll never get a job.” Such was the response of one of my favorite teachers to the interest that I had voiced in history as a potential field of study. A teacher whose class a friend and I had enjoyed so much we had taken time out of a weekday afternoon to come visit her. Sure, my response contrasted pretty acutely with that of my friend who wanted to pursue a career in computational linguistics, but history is my genuine interest. In an environment that constantly peddles science and technology careers, it’s hard to love history and literature.
Any student has their specific reasons or motives to apply for scholarships in order to pursue a higher education or career. As for myself, I have overcome various struggles and obstacles throughout my high school years simply because I am a migrant student who has obligations of labor and dreams of having a successful career. Any scholarship or grant is a great opportunity for hard working students by benefitting them financially and mentally. Therefore, this scholarship will aid me in my first years at Valdosta State University by allowing me to focus studying and excelling on my tasks instead of working on part-time jobs and borrowing loans with absurd interests. My planned dental career may be lifelong, so it is important for me to climb
Science is a method of understanding how things work. It is important because we need science in order for things to work and to develop new technology that is used in every day life. It is personally important to me because I really want to become a vet when I get older and I would need to do really well in science. Even though science isn’t exactly my best subject, I am willing to put in the hard work and determination so I may eventually get better and learn what I need to know.
As for science, I have always had a passion for it, always been interested in finding solutions to problems. Whether that be STEM related, people related or otherwise. You give me a problem, most of the time ill attempt to d...
Now that I had one semester of History of Science, I feel that something should change and that all objective classes are worthless without a little influence of humanity. It matters to me because scientists and professors should give more importance to History of Science when forming new scientists; first, because it would avoid falling in the same pitfalls of the past, and second, because more than science, when discussing History, we can reflect about our society, the origin of our problems, and take a good perspective of what is coming next. It is sad to know that women and some “minorities” still do not have the same chances of completing a graduation or reaching a doctorate, but it would be still sadder knowing that no one is talking about it. I am not saying that talking about it will solve anything, but it is, for sure, the first step towards changing. Words have power, it is true, but it was those with action who wrote
