Growing up in a city where there is not much and they lack pretty much everything makes you want to help people achieve better opportunities for themselves. Last year the local hospital that we had in our town was shut down because lack of employees and a health issue. The nearest hospital and the doctor office is a least 30 minutes without traffic and 45 minutes with traffic. Noticing in the low country part of South Carolina (where I am from ) healthcare part is really having a hard time getting nurses and doctors to work for them . I know money is a big reason why people do not work in South Carolina and that is something to consider when you have a family but I also believe that in order to be able to work in the health field you must have compassion and care for others to make sure they properly taken care of . After just watching this and just seeing my community go down and down it makes me want to change somethings in it My undergraduate degree is in Communication Arts which was the foundation of what started me to wanting to change things in my community such as the education system and it wasn’t until I took this Health Communications class that made me want go deeper in to the health field. Many people rush through their daily life without contemplating their actions, thereby missing vast opportunities for achievement. They waste valuable time engaging in frivolous matters instead of putting their energies towards more productive and meaningful purposes. In the words of the Dalai Lama: “Life is not about acquiring money and other facilities; it is about dedicating your life to helping others as much as you can.” The immeasurable value of helping others has been engrained in me since childhood. As a result of my own difficult family circumstances, I have become more sensitive, kind and mindful towards others and their own situations. I have developed a passion for helping others, which, in combination with a proclivity towards medicine has lead to my descion to become a Physician Assistant. I want to live a life where I can provide healthcare and aid to anyone who needs.
One of the proudest accomplishments of my life was earning my high school diploma, despite all the hard work that led me where I am today was well worth it. Many people would expect me to say I am coming to college to better myself as a person or to continue my education. The truth is I want to change a life in my community, make my parents proud of their daughter and start a tradition in my family.
“It always seems impossible until it’s done”. This quote from Nelson Mandela comes to mind when describing why I aspire to become a Physician Assistant. It has always been a great motivation and inspired me not to get discouraged with failure; rather look forward for your goals. Frequently, it takes many trials and lack of success as well as achievements, for one to truthfully discover him/herself. I instinctively progressed through the motions of life. Many options were available and choosing a career as I grew up kept altering, until one day when I saw how helping other people is my sole purpose of life. Getting to know more of physician assistant drove me into the thoughts of pursuing it as a career.
...ntralizing and taking a holistic approach towards health for underserved communities, could lead to improved show rates, as well as, knowledge and communication between patient and health care providers. Especially in under marginalized communities, where advocacy and resources are lacking and needed the most, the manner in which health officials effectively educate and provide the resources to these communities need to be strategically assessed to translate scientific research into practice. With the value and importance of public health increasing, I desire to address the social determinants of health to reduce health disparities through utilization of technology and partnerships with community organizers. Thus, I believe a degree from Oregon State will be an excellent opportunity for me to merge my skills, backgrounds, and passions, turning a vision into reality.
My decision to pursue a career as an Anesthesiology Assistant is hinged on three factors; first, a desire to advance in the healthcare sector and be able to take up higher responsibilities in patient care; secondly, an intentional process of building a healthcare career that would be personally fulfilling and rewarding; and thirdly, embarking on a career path that will enable me to integrate my prior education, experiences and skills, and use them as a backdrop for effective care delivery. My undergraduate degree is in Psychology. I undertook studies in this area because I had always had a deep-seated desire to help people recover from adverse situations. At the same time, I trained and work as a medical assistant, which has enabled me to have a lot of patient contact. Based on my knowledge of psychology and my clinical experiences, I began to explore career advancement options
In five years, I hope to be a knowledgeable nurse, where I feel comfortable in the job I have acquired. I hope to be a critical care nurse working in the incentive care unit at a well-known hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. By five years, I will have received a certification in critical care and possibly other certifications. I also may be thinking about going back to school to become a family nurse practitioner within the five years. I can achieve these goals by becoming a dedicated nurse to my patients and continuing with my education throughout the five years.

Nursing is not my job, this is my career. Gaining advance nursing education is my goal. I don’t even remember when I decided to be a nurse because I used to say I want to be a nurse when one of my teachers asked me in my grade 2. When I was in grade 4, we had to study about Florence Nightingale and I came to know how she helped people
It’s been my desire, longing for a nursing career since I was in my primary and secondary school. At the age of 12, I began to look after children and baby-sitting then, from there, I gained the understanding of how to deal with children. Nursing is one of the highly demanding careers that bring new challenges every day and it comes with various rewards and a real sense of job satisfaction. I chose nursing because it is a profession where you never really finish learning. It has been my dream job since my tender age. Seeing nurses visiting my school treating students, immunisation, teaching us about health and sexual health issues, this encouraged me. My goal and desire at that age have been to help people within the Health sector. That is how; I decided to go to college where I am currently doing my Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science), which involves Biology and Chemistry. I chose this pathway because I want to gain the relevant skills and knowledge of my career to be. As someone who wants to become a nurse, I found biology as an important role in the delivery of client car...
As a freshman, I was conflicted about what I wanted out of college. At the time, I naively believed that I would major in Neuroscience and Arabic while completing plenty of biomedical research on the side. Perhaps I would also sign up for a few clubs here and there and thus produce the perfect resume for medical school. In the following year, I realized that my heart was not into the breakneck agenda I planned for myself and I started to reevaluate just what exactly I wanted to pursue in my undergraduate experience. With the aid of many advising sessions I gained a clearer picture of my passions, which as I had come to realize, were what I truly wanted to work towards. Among my interests is Global Health -- in particular, I wish to learn more
As someone who has many aspirations in life, I understand having both long and short-term goals is important. One of my long-term professional objectives includes being a community service manager at a health center. With this I am hoping to work with many other healthcare professionals to coordinate health programs and initiatives to improve the health of communities. Having a background in health promotion alongside the leadership and management skills and the real world experience that I intended to gain from this program will give me all I need to make this
Have you ever thought about your future job? How you plan to be something that someone else is not? I have always dreamed of being something in a field where you care for others. I love to care for others. For me, being able to help someone is my pride and joy.
In my journey through my undergrad years, I have realized that becoming a health administrator will allow me to address several of my interests while also allowing me to serve my community. I will be able to expand my thirst for knowledge while also making a self-efficiency community. I feel as a health care administrator, I need to encompass the role of a lifelong learner. For this to be continuing achieved, I need to be critically reflective of my environment and the people in the community.
What makes a person healthy? Surely, it is more than exercising and a proper diet. As a ten year-old girl, being healthy had one meaning to me; to eat all my vegetables and to be physically fit. I have chosen healthcare as a career because health does not only focus on the physical aspects of wellness, but it applies to all areas of wellness, such as, intellectual, social, spiritual, financial, occupational, environmental and emotional wellness.
I have always loved working in fields that are considered “hands on”. I have always loved working with multiple people that come from many different backgrounds. I think having that around me, makes things interesting and helps me stay interested. I thought I had found my career choice for the rest of my life in nursing. However, life happens for people sometimes in a way you never imagined possible. In my situation, I became very ill during the peak of my nursing career. Due to this, working as a nurse was very hard on my body. I was advised by my surgeon and cardiologist that I should think of a career change or take my nursing career off the floor and start working behind a desk in the medical field. Working behind a desk did not appeal to me at all!
