Realization
My Freshman year of high school, the year where I'd hope to find my "place" in the new community, social groups and along with my education. Although all three of those things were discovered with my ability to attend a public school, making family not friends and my interest to pursue my future as an Engineer one day. Such as being Captain of the POMS(dance team), and the opportunity to attend the Warren Tech(STEM program). Although the last year of high school, Senior year is when I came to the realization of how I want to pursue my future, the possible obstacles I will face, along with the realization of the young independent women I am. Shell Eco Marathon is a competition competing with states around the world, achieving a goal to design either a Prototype, Diesel, and or Urban concept vehicle. My Home High School Green Mountain had paired up with my Technical school Warren Tech to compete in this competition in designing a Prototype, Diesel Engine. The competition was open to High School and Colleges but mainly College Universities attended. This event is for people who like to solve critical problems, working with others, and managing to deal with the process of trial and error. During my experience in Detroit it expanded my mind and future. Time spent in Detroit I was given the position of the “Event and Safety coordinator.” Being 1 of the 2 girls in a group of 12, I was the observate, alert, go to girl. That being, being independent and taking on leadership when working with others is a strong benefit.‘Shell’ widened my intellectual thinking and reinformed me that there are so many possibilities in the future for careers. I've recently attended a National conference during my personal time at the Denver Convention Center called ‘AISES’ in September of 2017. AISES stands for American Indian Science and Engineering Society. This conference had professionals attend from over the globe to talk about many specific jobs and careers needed in the world now and in our
