To be offered a place in the outstanding organization that is the National Honor Society is quite an honor, and there are several reasons why I would love to be accepted into this organization. The opportunity to improve my leadership skills, take part in community service projects, and join the community of people who strive for academic excellence are all reasons why I want to join this organization and do my part to make this club and my entire community a better place.
Firstly, I wish to be accepted into this organization because I am exited by the prospect of improving my leadership skills. Although I have not had quite as many leadership opportunities as I would like in the past, I understand that a key component of joining this organization is the chance to become a more effective leader. The skills that I will acquire through participation in this organization will allow me to be an effective leader for the remainder of my high school career, throughout my college experience, and well into later life. I know how lucky I am to be an intelligent person who is able to lead others in enacting change within society. Through my experiences within this organization, I will be able to hone and demonstrate my leadership skills in a way that will allow me to truly make a difference in the world.

Secondly, the community service component of joining this organization is a tremendous opportunity to enact change and improve the conditions of people living in my community.
While I have taken part in several service projects in the past, the chance to expand my interests in helping the community is quite appealing. Performing community service is something that I enjoy, as it allows me to discover new interests while helping someone in need. The opportunity to perform community service, surrounded by fellow Academic Magnet students who support my enthusiasm for helping others, is a key aspect of why I want to be a part of this
organization. Finally, the chance to be a part of a prestigious community of intelligent, passionate people is invigorating. To be a part of the same organization as influential politicians, musicians, actors, sportsmen, etc. would allow me to see myself in a new light and allow me to look up to these accomplished people and see that I too have the potential for greatness. Additionally, being a part of an organization within the Academic Magnet community that accepts only those who strive for the highest academic caliber and want to truly make a difference in the world would be an honor and a life-changing experience. For the aforementioned reasons, I am truly honored by the possibility to join this prestigious organization. I can assure you that, if accepted into the AMHS National Honor Society, I will work to build my leadership abilities, participate in a variety of service projects, and contribute my knowledge and expertise to the community of existing members of this organization. I feel that the importance of service is to help a person in need because you could change someone's life, not because you feel that you need to. People who love what they are doing are the people who effect everything around them.Service has impacted my life because it makes me a better person. My family feels the impact, the community feels the impact, even servicing for a few hours a week affects the people around you. It makes the community a better place to live.
The National Honors Society is based off of four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Character and Service. These are all characteristics a member of the National Honor Society should exhibit. I believe that I possess all of these characteristics and should be given the chance of becoming a NHS member. This has also been a goal of mine since freshman year and would mean a lot to me to be apart of such a prestigious organization.
I would be an excellent choice to be a member of the National Junior Honor Society because I show service, leadership, character, and citizenship. It is an amazing opportunity anyone is lucky to have, and I am more than happy to accept it. I love helping people, being able to feel accomplished knowing I put a smile on someone’s face. Being chosen for National Honor Society is a great honor, as it has proved that from my childhood till now my hard work has paid off. From the beginning of high school, as a freshman to now a junior, I have always pushed myself to do better, but not better than others, better than myself. I had competition with myself and my past grades, as I emboldened myself to do better than each of my past marking period grades.
