As a little girl I always thought I wanted to be a superstar singing and dancing all over the world. Then when I became a teenager I thought I wanted to be a teacher teaching preschool. It wasn’t until I graduated from high school when I finally decided that I wanted to be a Social Worker The reason why I want to be a Social Worker is because of the need that our society needs. There is so many problems going on in our society such as, homelessness, poverty, mental health and many other issues that needs to be addressed. I also feel that this field will never have to many Social Workers. Another reason why I want to be a Social Worker is because of the love I have for helping people. Growing up, I was told that I would not make it to become a Social Worker. This was very discouraging at first but now I use it amotivation to keep going. I also use this as motivation to let others know that they can do and be anything they put their mind to. My previous experience with the Social Work profession took place when I was assigned to the different placements. The first placement that I was assigned to is the Wesley Foundation here on the campus. The Wesley Foundation is a nonprofit organization that helps meet the spiritual, intellectual and social needs of the students of Texas Southern University by extending the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This agency receives funding from churches and donations from many people. At the Wesley Foundation I was assigned to help the students receive food from the food pantry. I was also assigned to help the students receive clothes from the boutique. I also gave flyers to students informing them about the Wesley Foundation and the different services they provide for the students at Texas Southern University.
