Veterinarians all over the world save lives everyday, I want to be part of that. Why would I want to be in this career? First off I love animals, I alway have and always will. Becoming a veterinarian will give you many things to look forward too every day. The job is adventurous and exciting, you never know what to expect. When I get through college I want to own my own clinic, but only after a few years of internships and local clinic jobs. A couple of weeks ago I was invited to Crockett’s vet clinic to work as a “assistant”. Wow! This opportunity was astonishing, it totally opened my eyes and assured me this was my dream job. In addition to everything I am not afraid to get dirty or bloody, this is one of the main things a vet has to deal with on a daily basis. Imagine a new disease breaks out affecting all the cattle in your area, as a vet you would look for a cure or be the one to vaccinate and try to prevent it from spreading. Working in the medical field this might just be one of the things that happen during your shift. While working as a vet you need to be attentive, hardworking, passionate, self-confident, and most of all caring, these qualities make success happen. There are multiple benefits that come with being a veterinary technician. These benefits include, but are not limited to, a high job outlook, great room for advancement, and only two years of schooling (depending on the route you take). For as long as I can remember, my childhood dream has always been wanting to become a veterinarian. While other kids were outside having fun at the playground, I was at the library reading books and learning about the different animals. However, as I matured, I realized that being a veterinarian isn’t just about caring for and assisting injured animals. In one way or another, I have been taking care of animals my entire life. Growing up, I was completely dedicated to animals, caring for what could be considered a mini zoo. Naturally, as a child, I was set on a career as a veterinarian. Like most children, I was naive about the veterinary profession, but I had plenty of people to warn me about its challenges. Albeit initially discouraged from becoming a veterinarian, my search for a meaningful career not only revived my spark for veterinary medicine but also gave me the maturity and experience necessary to succeed in it.
