This means that they can diagnose the patient and also treat. A Nurse Practitioner helps when people are in chronic conditions or are severely ill. When going to Missouri Connections and looking at the article “Overview,” I learned that in order to help correctly I will have to get the medical history of the patients (1). They work in the Hospital, the Doctors Offices, or the Emergency Room. This occupation has them working long hours. With this job I will need patience with people because I will deal with many people. Some attractive features for a Nurse Practitioner would have to be the financial benefits and the Personal rewards. For when I help someone, personally to me it makes me feel remarkable, not only about myself but just in general that I may have just saved someone's life. These features are so satisfying because I can not just get it anywhere from anyone. According to “Interests and Values,” Nurse Practitioners have to “consider achievement important” (1). When I sit here and are helping someone that satisfaction is what will push me to keep doing what I love. We were told to do what we …show more content…
The median salary in St. Louis, Missouri is $89,770 (“Wages” 1). This expense can cover my living cost, gas charges, clothes, and any other necessary needs. These charges would be covered with the amount of pay I would be making. When having this job, I would have to think of where I would have to stay and where I would be driving to everyday. I would be driving at least an hour to my work, to get the best pay; well in my eyes. Being a Nurse Practitioner has many benefits to the job. With this job I can get insurance through it. So this would be a bundle and also better than getting it on my own. With the amount of money I would be making I can put some away each month or even pay check, I can start the retirement plan or maybe they have one started for me. This job can offer me so much knowledge everyday and I will know more than I began with. This job allows “work in a friendly, non-competitive environment” (“Interests and Values” 1). This job’s benefits are going to make me a better person than I already
I plan to pursue a career in nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. This career take many steps to complete. But it is different routes you can take and different programs you can enroll in for this profession. Family Nurse Practitioners can prescribe medication and diagnose patients and give treatment. They can work either in hospitals and or clinics as a primary healthcare provider. They can also order specific x-rays and test that need to be done for a patient. The nurse practitioners interact with less patients in a clinic than in a hospital. Np’s have privileges to prescribe medications in every state.
A Nurse practitioner is a licensed independent healthcare provider who practices in a variety of settings and provides nursing and medical services to individuals, families and groups in accordant with their practice specialties and state guidelines. Nurse Practitioners are also qualified to diagnose medical problems, order treatments, perform advanced procedures, prescribe medications, and make referrals for acute and chronic medical conditions, within their scope of practice.
When I am older I would love to be a Nurse Practitioner, I enjoy helping people when they are sick and taking care of them. Another reason I want to be a Nurse Practitioner is because my sister is also a Nurse Practitioner.
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner is the job I have chosen to work towards becoming in the future. This job gives me the chance to help people, which was one of my biggest goals for picking what job that I would obtain after college. While being a pediatric nurse practitioner I will get to take care of children, learn more about science and medicine use the skills that I have learned, and get to have the satisfaction that I helped someone every day. These were all things that I wanted in a job; I have found all of these qualities in being a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
Many nurse practitioners specialize in different fields. One might specialize in becoming a Geriatric nurse practitioner. A geriatric nurse will design workout programs for recovering patients, and might also act as a counselor to elderly patients. Another field that someone could go into would to become an oncology nurse practitioner. An oncology nurse usually works with the cancer patients. They conduct checkups, and record the process of the patient. A psychiatric nurse practitioner is a popular field that a nurse might go into. Psychiatric nurse practitioners tend to hold a higher level of education, like a PhD. They act as a therapist to troubled patients, and can also prescribe appropriate medication. Psychiatric nurse practitioners, act more like a counselor to the patients that need someone to talk to, than a doctor. A pediatric nurse practitioner is also another popular field that one might go into. Pediatric Nurses work with children, and alongside the main doctor. Pediatric Nurses are allowed to make important decisions without a doctor inv...
A few being good communication skills, reliability, emotional stability, and empathy. RN’s need good communication skills because they are constantly in contact with people. Whether it is doctors, other nurses, or their patients, “Nurses always need to be on top of their game and make sure that their patients are clearly understood by everyone else”. (Top 10 Qualities of a Great Nurse). Nurses need to be very reliable. Doctors need to be able to rely on their nurses to get the job done. “When you think of the medical field we often think of doctors. Nurses are the real deal that keeps the medical field together… Dr. 's need their nurses. In school they told us that if the nurses were upset, your whole day would go bad” (Kroon, Melissa. Personal interview. 26 October 2015). Without nurses, doctors wouldn’t be able to run a smooth show. To keep the “medical field together” nurses need to be one step ahead, ready for anything that comes their
Caring for others being my first reason for this job leads to a second reason and being financially stable is very important. In 2014, the median pay in Northern Virginia for a nurse practitioner was $104,740. (“Testing & Education Reference Center”). Having this money will help me to be a successful and independent adult, and with this money, I will be able to not just receive but give to less

I am currently planning to attend Richland Community college and graduate as a registered nurse. The reason I chose this career is because helping out others has always driven me forward. I want to study something that I know I will be content doing for the rest of my life and registered nursing is the right choice. Being a nurse has a many perquisites, but my choice has nothing to do with the advantages that it will provide me with. It is more about the fact that I have the chance to make people who are ill feel better and also to hel...

It’s been my desire, longing for a nursing career since I was in my primary and secondary school. At the age of 12, I began to look after children and baby-sitting then, from there, I gained the understanding of how to deal with children. Nursing is one of the highly demanding careers that bring new challenges every day and it comes with various rewards and a real sense of job satisfaction. I chose nursing because it is a profession where you never really finish learning. It has been my dream job since my tender age. Seeing nurses visiting my school treating students, immunisation, teaching us about health and sexual health issues, this encouraged me. My goal and desire at that age have been to help people within the Health sector. That is how; I decided to go to college where I am currently doing my Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science), which involves Biology and Chemistry. I chose this pathway because I want to gain the relevant skills and knowledge of my career to be. As someone who wants to become a nurse, I found biology as an important role in the delivery of client car...
Nursing is a profession one cannot simply just choose to do. Nursing takes time, dedication, and compassion. Nursing isn’t a right, it is a privilege. Becoming a nurse has been my dream since I was little, and now I have received the opportunity to attend The University of Texas at Austin achieve my dreams. For me, nursing runs deeper than the basics, I have an aspiration of becoming a Neonatal Nurse, a nurse who works with babies, and touching as many innocent lives that I can.
Nursing is a promising career that offers many rewards to caring individuals. It is more than just a job that one attends day to day. Nursing is a career that kind people get in to because they are passionate about life and everything is has to offer. They care for people they have never met before in such a way that makes the patient feel comfortable and able to relax. In a way that makes it possible for the patient to recover from whatever they have encountered. If I am going to spend valuable time and money on education, I want to a job that I absolutely love. I want to have the satisfaction of knowing that my job is safe even when times are rough. Interviewing Jennifer H, a Registered Nurse at a local Banner facility really helped me get insight on what the position has to offer. I have encountered many people who are not passionate about their job and just show up for a paycheck; choosing a job in the medical field provides people with the same check, but also offers job security, advancement opportunities and numerous benefits for the employee and their famil...
From a young age, I was drawn to the healthcare field, not because the amount of money doctors, nurses and other health professionals made, but because of the dedication and contentment I saw on their faces helping someone in need. Growing up everyone wanted to become a doctor or a nurse and as a little child being a doctor or a nurse was a profession many parents wanted their child to pursue as a career. Needless to say, I fell into that category because I had high hopes that one day I will become a nurse. However, that dream came to a halt.
The career i chose is a branch of the medical field. I chose a career in nursing, more specifically the career path of a registered nurse. This career consists of providing care for people of all ages and helping them with managing their conditions. I chose this career because my mother is an rn and my family has a strong presence in the medical field. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills, or talents needed, salary, benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career when making this decision.
