The career I want to pursue is dental hygiene. Hygienist remove deposits from teeth and help people practice good hygiene on their teeth and mouth. They also use devices and instruments to clean and polish teeth. Hygienist is allowed to use X-ray machines and can take dental pictures. In some states, hygienists can do fillings and polish mental restorations. They also have to have a connection with the patients to ensure that their oral health is in good condition. Their work environments are well-lighted and clean. Material used to help keep the hygienists from being sick is: gloves, mask, and safety glasses. Dental hygiene is perfect for me because the scheduling is flexible. Dental Hygienists ensure that your teeth are healthy so you won’t get sick. A dental hygienist is

required to have 2 years of college. A prerequisite for dental hygienists is science, nutrition, psychology, sociology, English, and public speaking. The average salary for a hygienist is twenty five dollars an hour.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics dental hygienists are among some of the highest paid healthcare professionals nationwide. I feel like this career will financially support me. I always like to keep my hygiene up so I feel like I could save somebody from a bad gum disease. The smile plays a major role in almost everything you do. It makes a first impression better, so I feel the demand for depart hygienist is high. Another reason this career is suitable is because I can work on higher level degrees such as my masters and bachelors while maintaining a job. The atmosphere is people-oriented so I do not have to worry about being bored and I will always have somebody to talk to. I am a people’s person so that is another reason I would get the job done. Dental hygiene is not as stressful as most jobs which is another reason why I want this job. The reason why you should become a dental hygiene is because the demand for them is steadily rising. The occupation is one of the fastest growing jobs right now, with a job outlook for 2010-20 at an increase of 31% which is much faster than the average of most other

occupations. Hygienist is also off on holidays so it would not intervene with family or other obligations. I also have a strong stomach so I feel like a yucky mouth would not bother me. The world is becoming more wrapped up in beauty, so I feel like I could keep the beauty up. I have great communication skills that will help me get through my job faster and easier. I did not want to be a nurse because I feel like I cannot handle the fact of somebody terribly sick or dying. So that leads me to this job which is not as intense a nurses and doctors. Having bad hygiene can lead to other serious illnesses such as Alzheimer’s disease. In order to reduce all problems I could be one more dental hygienist to save the world.
