After receiving my criminal justice degree from Washington State University, I plan on going to law school. I plan on applying to almost all Californian law school and UW. I strive to arm myself with great knowledge and insights in hopes to make a difference in the disastrous criminal justice system we have today. I want to stand up for the accused. For the people who everyone believes they’re guilty, when they’re innocent. I want to be that person who fights for the people who have the world and government resources against them. Each day of my career honoring the sixth amendments hopes and promises. Willing to devote my time and hard work to this form of patriotism and symbolism for the freedom of our country. I’ve also recently become interested in foreign policy and human rights therefore after some years of working as a criminal defense attorney I want to return to school and pursue a job with the United Nations. I believe this course will be another great “mentor” and overall stepping stone that will help me reach my goals of going to a good school. It’ll be the foundation to endless

Finding your calling in life can be one of the hardest things to do, for some it is obvious from a young age on what you want to do. For example, my mom has gone on a spree of jobs in her life and she has only recently found something that she actually wants to do. My dad on the other hand knew from a young age what he wanted to do, he liked to tinker and straight after he got out of highschool he knew that he wanted to be a mechanic, and he has stuck with that career path for more than 30 years now. I am currently undecided on what I want to do for the rest of my life, however one of the careers that I am looking at is a law enforcement officer.
Achieving academic excellence while obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice is the first step towards becoming financially able to support my son by working as a law enforcement analyst. Nothing ever stays the same for too long. Applying to a Ph.D. program is a dream come true for me. Not knowing anyone in my family getting a college degree motivated me to achieve an academic degree from a university. My experience in my undergraduate years and masters program has been a great journey, but I am hungry for much more. As a criminology and criminal Justice major I feel a great need to get a graduate level education to become a figure in Criminology that can make a positive impact in our society and the world.
Some call me argumentative- I prefer the term dialectical. It is true, I enjoy debates more than the average person. Nothing compares to the thrill of triumphantly dispelling an opponent’s case and swaying an audience to my side. On top of that, I have a sincere appreciation and talent for writing, reading comprehension, and grammar. With these attributes, I feel destined for a career in law. Yet, it is more than just my personal tastes that have led to my interest in legal services. Growing up with a disorder, I have developed empathy for people with disabilities and a desire to help them by advocating for their rights. As a lawyer, I hope to take action to make the world a better place to live in for people with conditions similar- and maybe not so similar- to mine.
What should we do in life? That always seems to be the question. Life is not guaranteed to be easy, never turning out the exact way that we want it to. A lot of people work hard to achieve their dreams of making a massive amount of money and having more than a seven percent return on their 401k plan. Truth is, life is not about the amount of money that we have saved up, it is about what we do to make a difference and how we will make our lifetime worth it. Something that people should set into place is a plan for their future. A plan that would help not only directs their path in life, but the paths of those around them too.
Everyone is unique but despite gender, ethnicity, age and class we all have one thing in common. We all belong to a society. I have chosen to study Criminology as I am very enthusiastic about this aspect of society and I am keen to widen my knowledge which I have learnt through studying A level Sociology. My favourite topic throughout my AS year whilst studying sociology, was Crime and deviance. The subject of Crime I feel is of great importance and relevance to modern day society because it is increasingly a cause of concern in everyday life and create issues which affect us as a society.
I believe that studying criminology at university will be extremely beneficial and provide me with knowledge and skills that will assist me not only in pursuing my career but also in everyday life. For example, a criminology course would require me to think critically and independently and also expect me to be able to work in teams and present ideas to others. What interests me about Criminology is the range of different topic areas such as drugs, the media and the criminal justice system as I wish to strive towards a career within the realms of crime and criminal behaviour.

Reflection on the work I’ve done in this course and what I’ve learned Very few courses we do in our life impacts us deeply, and ever fewer amongst them brings about a change in the way we think, react and respond to situations. I am really thankful that I got one such opportunity to be a part of a curriculum which not just gave me the attitude to judge situations from a larger lens but also the confidence to delve with critical issues in life with ease. The process of ideation and personal introspection that went into it is sure to have brought about big changes in my perspective, and it certainly doesn’t just end there; the connect I intended and achieved to make with my blog readers, getting positive feedbacks from them and impacting their
Within the past two years, I have had a number of experiences that can relate to competencies that both myself, and your organization share. Honesty, attitude, maturity, integrity, and confidence are competencies that I view are very important in myself and also with a person having a career in law enforcement. To have a job with law enforcement, whether it is in a city, a town, or an airport; RCMP, Sheriff, or CBSA; you are going to be dealing with the public. Having the proper and more important attributes it takes to have a job in law enforcement is very important; a must. I can tell you why I am the right choice for your team by explaining how I not only obtain these five attributes, but also express them when appropriate.
