Cinnamon Rolls I hate eating anything with cinnamon, especially cinnamon rolls. I have tried cinnamon rolls once and I immediately hated them, they were the worst things I have ever tasted in my life. I have always hated cinnamon, for that matter anything that contains of cinnamon. I have never eaten anything with cinnamon in it except for when i tried the butter that comes with the rolls at Texas Roadhouse. I don't eat cinnamon rolls at all, and my mom and grandma always ask “why do you hate cinnamon rolls” because they LOVE cinnamon rolls. I usually say “ I hate cinnamon.” My Aunt, Uncle, and my cousins Jordan, Logan, and Eli came over to my Grandma’s house. We were all gathering there for the Ohio State
In Middle School, before taking a big test teachers would always hand out peppermint or a piece of gum. The purpose behind this seemed unclear. However, from further research their was interesting facts about peppermint candy and Big Red cinnamon flavored gum. Peppermint candy is made with the oil of peppermint, which is extracted from the peppermint plant. This is why the candy can have some of the same effects as the oil itself. People believe the brain effects associated with peppermint are related to the scent of the peppermint, rather than the ingestion of it.
I can remember rare occasions as a child when I would wake up for school and there would be pancakes, eggs and bacon on the table and orange juice or Sunny Delight to drink. These exciting occasions, however, were just that: rare. Most days I would bound down the stairs to the toaster loaded with Pop-Tarts. I would usually be disappointed that I couldn't devour a wholesome breakfast, but I later came to understand the convenience of the Pop-Tart. My parents could put pastries in the toaster and continue to get ready for their day without having to worry about too much clean-up. It was during these early days of my education that I really found a love for the sugary, fruit-filled pastries.
Within the few minutes of meeting, my cousins and I were treating each other as if we had lived together for years. We were sharing crazy memories and laughing like old friends. Just in the car ride to my grandmother’s house, we shared secrets among ourselves and sang our hearts out to our favorite tunes. Once we arrived, I met my grandparents for the very first time in person, and they embraced me as if I was their own daughter.
Before I knew it, I was on my eighth cookie, but decided that it still wasn't enough. I knew that it was a bad idea to have some more, but I went for it anyway. By the time that I was on my eleventh cookie, I could feel myself getting sick because of all that sugar. The worse part was that I also had a sugar rush, which was an awful experience because I ended up crashing from all that
“Do you want a man who can bake you a gourmet cake in the dream kitchen that he built for you with his own hands? Of course you do.” Old Spice man asks his audience this question among a series of other rhetorical questions as he transitions, to continuously fit the image of the perfect man. The commercial begins with an attractive, charismatic Old Spice man standing in a towel bare-chested, on the beach holding a bottle of Old Spice. He associates being an attractive model man, with using Old Spice body wash. He then transitions into an adventurous man wearing khaki shorts, walking on a log, and then walking on water. After he carries said gourmet cake into the dream kitchen, he swan dives off a waterfall, into a hot tub. The commercial ends with the man sitting on a motorcycle holding a bottle of Old Spice body wash; modeling being both an Old Spice man and the ideal man, with the slogan SMELL LIKE A MAN, MAN. Old Spice, in the background. Humor is achieved by the tone that is set. The ad campaign is funny to a point that the commercial is pretty much making fun of itself. The sex appeal is apparent as the bare-chested man sells the product of a man, man. The product name and logo are repeated and shown throughout the entire ad, making repetition a strong selling point. This advertisement is effective because it appeals to a wide audience using humor, sex appeal, and repetition to sell the product.
Nobody was saying anything! That was the quietest it had been the whole period. She then knew the one thing that would make us quiet. It had been a long and good period, but the bell had rang and it was time to go home. Everybody loved Ms. Royall’s monkey bread, so when we got on the bus we had to sneak and eat it. When someone found out you had it, they would want some. It was too good to be sharing it. Sorry! In Ms. Royall’s class she taught all of her students about life and how you can make it in life. She also taught us how to make my favorite dessert. I hope you are now able to make it when you have that sweet
The crisp, cool, and cinnamon air filled the morning of Thanksgiving in 1987. Although I was only two years and eleven months old, I remember the scratchy, fuzzy, purple- footed pajamas that I was wearing that morning. After I woke up, I "helped" my mom make her famous orange- cranberry relish, got dressed in my cream sweater dotted with cherries and my navy pleated skirt, topped off with my favorite cream fuzz- warn tights, and before I knew it we were out the door to my grandmother's house. After an early dinner with my grandparents, mom, and dad, my grandfather and dad left to catch the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day football game, leaving the rest of us to find entertainment of our own.
Growing up, like any normal child, I had to follow certain rules set by my parents. Both of my parents are very resourceful and economical, and as a result, food is never wasted in our household. From a young age, my sister and I have been taught to take onto our plates only what we can finish; if we fail to do so, we are scolded without fail with one variation or another of the “think about the poor children in Africa who have nowhere near as much food as you do” lecture. My mom always tries to use as many parts of our food as she can, not very much unlike how the Native Americans used every single part of their meat in order to honor the revered spirits of the animals they hunted; when we have watermelon, instead of throwing away the tasteless
My parents and I had gone to visit my aunt who lived in Philadelphia. I was looking forward to meeting her since I had not seen her in my entire life. My aunt had two children; Jake and Amber. They were aged ten and eight respectively. The first encounter I had with my two cousins did not seem quite pleasant. They were uttering ominous words amidst greetings. I put that aside assuming they were just small children. Jake and Amber were television addicts and lovers of X-rated films. I wondered how my aunt had allowed her children to watch such obscene films at a tender age. We were treated to a rude shock when, during meal time, Jake inserted his unwashed hands into the serving pot containing...
I love how harmonious all the ingredients are atop my tortilla chip. I’d love to say that my childhood home was like that all the time but it wasn’t. There was bickering and fighting. There were times when my dad and I just couldn’t mesh and we brought out the worse in each other. We always love each other and strive to make each other the better sometimes we just couldn’t. If the tomatoes are rotten or we add cinnamon instead of cayenne pepper the salsa would taste terrible. The same goes in my family. When one of us is in a bad mood or having a hard day it affects the family in a negative
Most people around the world are familiar with the sweet and pungent taste of cinnamon. Cinnamon is the common name for the trees and shrubs that belong to the genus Cinnamomum of the Laurel family (Lauraceae). Cinnamon spice comes primarily from the Sri Lankan cinnamon known as Cinnamomum zeylanicum. It is obtained from the plant by drying the central part of the bark, which is then sold in stick or powdered form. The cinnamon oil is extracted from the waste products of drying and the pointed black fruits that the tree bears (1). This oil is used for medicinal purposes or flavoring (2). Cinnamomum Zeylanicum is the source of cinnamon that we in the United States commonly buy. Cinnamon contains cinnamic aldehyde, essential oils, Eugenol, metholeugenol, muscilage, sucrose, starch, and tannin (3).
When those cousins were done trick or treating my cousins on my mom’s side were old enough. I decided to go with them and show them how to get the most candy possible! We would all meet at my grandparent’s house and go from there as my grandma passed out candy. We too would come back and see how much candy we collected, and talk about how excited we were for the following year. We would predict what we will dress up as. Once trick or treating was out of the question and we all grew up we changed our plans.
pizza. My mouth still has the pasty, saucy taste of the slice in my mouth.
I was with my extended family at my grandma’s house on Thanksgiving, and I was bored out of my mind. We had just finished eating the Butterball turkey, and the conversation taking place at the dinner table offered far too little entertainment for my toddler-aged brain. I got out of my seat and noticed the small dish of candy my grandmother kept on her piano. I grabbed a few and went to town. After consuming a quarter dozen
The only food that I avoid because of a bad experience is deep fried cheese curds, and many would find avoiding cheese curds odd because I grew up in Wisconsin where deep fried cheese curds are considered a relatively popular food. Coincidently, my first time eating cheese curds would be my last. I was very young, and I decided after I had already eaten a sizable lunch that it would be a good idea to eat as many cheese curds I could possibly fit in my stomach. I then went straight to the back seat of my father’s recently bought car. We ...
